Today, organizing baskets are so popular that they are found in almost every home. Their main purpose is additional storage space. To make storage convenient, the size must be appropriate.
With the help of baskets you can also transform the interior and, in order not to spend a lot of money, you can make them yourself from scrap materials.
For production, cardboard, plastic canisters, and shoe boxes are suitable as a base. The basket can also be made of fabric or woven from newspaper tubes.
A particularly favorite way for many is to decorate the box with any materials. The most common of them are ropes and twine.
To create a beautiful basket, I will use two colors of rope, and I will also need a suitable box.
1) But first you need to close the cardboard and make a cover inside. For this I used knitwear from my dress. I glued the fabric on the outside and wrapped it inside, cut out a rectangle and made the bottom.
2) I also glued the fabric to the outside of the bottom.
3) I cut pieces of rope, folded them in half and glued them to the bottom of the box, every 0.5 cm. This distance depends on the thickness of the rope.
Important! The number of each pair of ropes must be odd.
Now weaving
- I prepared double ropes, their length should wrap the box on 4 sides with a margin of 6-7 cm.
- I stepped back 3 centimeters from the edge and glued the horizontal rope under the vertical so that it was not visible. Next, I threaded it through one strand. At the end of the row, I glued the edge of the rope next to the beginning and covered it with a vertical rope.
- Every row is done this way.
- I covered the bottom of the box in a circle with a rope of a different color.
- For the handles I took two sticks 10 cm long and strips of leather. I glued them like this.
- Just like below, I glued a rope.
