All of these depend on the cat. My cat loves belly rubs and excessive attention/petting. They do hate prolonged eye contact, but they will just look away.

Staring can be defused by long slow blinks and looking slightly away, which cats themselves do to people quite often. To people they just seem sleepy, but the cat is actually saying “I’m not hunting you, which proves that we are friends,” and they appreciate the same gesture in return.

Adorable tabbycat... When looking at cats give them some gentle slow blinks, which breaks eye contact and is less threatening... Then cats may calm and even reciprocate the calm gesture in return...❤❤❤

Instead of staring at your cat, slowly blink at them. This shows them that your guard is down and they also understand this as you telling them that you love them. If they slow blink BACK AT YOU, that means they love you, too! It’s true! ♥️🐈‍⬛

Some cats LOVE belly ribs. When they allow you to rub their bellies, it shows they trust you enough to allow you to touch that "vulnerable area" of their bodies. And, some cats love lots of attention. It just takes determining just when your kitty wants to be left alone. Plus, my kitty doesn't mind being stared at, though we don't stare at her too long. She never gets aggressive with us when we stare at her. There again, it takes knowing your cat. Some might "hate" these three things, but, mine doesn't hate them because she trusts us. However, dilated pupils can mean they are upset or angry. .And, their tummies ARE vulnerable areas. That's why they have a sort of protective sac in that area called a "Primordial Pouch." And, my kitty is more friendly than most dogs I've ever come into contact with. 😻

My 5 month old kitty LOVES pets! Especially on her head, behind her ears and chin! She loves to snuggle up on my lap and in the crease of my arm, she even rolls over for the occasional belly rub! Lately she has been falling asleep in those places too! She purrs the WHOLE TIME starting from the first pets!!! This made me so happy and emotional, since I’ve only had her for 3 days hahaha! As long as your cat trusts you enough, it will let you do any of the three things this guy claims your cat “hates”. Some cats can trust you with their life and STILL hate tummy rubs, being stared at or too much attention, but this is not EVERY single cat. Just because one cat hates it doesn’t mean they all do. A great way to break eye contact and start gainig trust, is by performing "cat kisses". Just look your cat in the eyes and blink slooowly, ome time. Maybe leaving your eyes closed for 1-2 seconds, then slowly opening them. This is how cats usually show trust and affection, because closing your eyes makes you vulnerable, which is a sign of trust for cats.

We used to own a wolf and the first thing I was told was not to keep long eye contact with him. I definitely heeded that advice

The purrs from the belly rubs I give my brother’s cat… well, they are his loudest and when I pull back, he stands up with a happy tail, headbutts my shin, flips back on his back and begs for more belly rubs. He’s also very talkative and will yell at you if you don’t pet him long enough.
