But they had the opportunity to build them so they would work like the ones in Sweden, Finland and Antarctica. But because they chose to deregulate their electric grid so there's no government oversight, they can do what they want, build how they want, and when Texas nearly freezes all to hell, they'll blame everyone else because the windmills don't work.

To be fair, I'd want to know how long ago they booked that vacation - because if it was a long set plan, I'd get why he didn't want to disappoint his family again by putting his job first. The crazy thing about this(yes you are right) , is the footage they show of busted pipes have been in some nice-looking homes. True these well-to-do people have the money and insurance to repair but they will be inconvenienced for some time so they are feeling the effects of this too.
