No offense to the lady cuz this single video isn't enough to judge her by but I think james is far more entertaining and has much better comedic delivery than most people. He's the perfect mix of outlandish absurdity without being overbearing and obnoxious.

I'm happy for Donut because I'm sure they are paying them a lot for the spot, but god damn if I don't hate Premiere and After Effects. Too bad they have a monopoly in most of the digital editing and general content creation world.

@@FilmsByMattH after effects is def a monopoly, especially for motion graphics, but premier? Off the top of my head I can think of Sony Vegas and Final Cut, not to mention all the other more beginner oriented video editors.

@@FilmsByMattH Yeah, I can second that. I like how 3D companies managed to sneak in by creating links to adobe software. Like being able to import Cinema4D scenes into aftereffects seamlessly, including all the cameras and motion setups. Wonder if we will see a buyout/takeover or Adobe create their own 3D suite that is industry competitive.

Dear D-List , I can personally tell you that the tennis ball unlocking a car door is true I've tryed it !!! It only works on the car's that have a vacuum style built-in locks on them like I believe that most fords of later model's have them in !!!

the tennis ball hack worked on 40 years worth of German cars, which used a small air pump or manifold vacuum to operate the central locking. I can confirm it working on a number of VW and Mercedes models from the mid 1960s thru to my 2001 VW Polo. I've also seen it work with a workboot instead of a ball. I think everything is electric now so it won't work anymore.

That tennis ball trick was originally only recommended for cars with pneumatic-actuated door locks. Audis used to have this. There's no reason to think it should work on electric lock motors.

I also think the idea was to keep it tight against the lock and push IN hard to pop it... not "suck out. " still very dumb, like most of tik tok.

Yeah and you cut the ball in half and pump it with a bike pump to create a vacuum, can confirm that it works on certain Audi's, BMW's, and from memory some Mercs too had the pneumatic actuated locks

I tried the headlight hack on my 2009 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT and IT WORKS. I have struggled with fogged headlights for years with this car and finally broke down and used the RainX headlight restoration kit. It took maybe 45 minutes for each head light and A LOT of elbow grease. The lemon and baking soda trick takes 5 minutes per light including rinsing and drying off and I could actually feel my fingers after doing it. Super simple and super cheap, I’m going to be using this trick monthly to keep up on my foggy head lights and I will never use the RainX kits ever again. Thanks for confirming this hack James!!

The floormats hack is straight up dangerous when used under the driver’s seat. People have died by their floormats interfering with the pedals. That’s why all modern cars have floormats that clip into place and cannot move where they shouldn’t

There's a pretty interesting podcast on this by Malcom Gladwell ("Blame Game") where he argues that floormats never had anything to do with it and in most all cases, maybe all, it was unintended acceleration. Brakes are designed to overpower an engine, even at WOT.

Often times they do that kind of thing in reality TV shows too because they don't have permission to use the brand name. TBH though the way the law works with that is really dumb, if they don't want their brand showing up in stuff, then they shouldn't sell products with prominently displayed brand names and logos!

The tennis ball trick worked on old cars that had a vaccum seal system in place for central locking. The pressure from the tennis ball would, if applied correctly, cause an external pressure on the vaccum seal and open the lock.

Fun video, though the first hack is actually no hack. It was just wetness of the surface that made it look like the headlights were fixed momentarily. As soon as the surface dries, you will get back your old and rough headlights.

Slime recipe: 1/4 cup glue, 2 teaspoons of detergent and mix. After a bit of mixing add 1 more teaspoon of detergent and continue to mix until it starts to come together and you can pick it up and knead it with your hands. After a few minutes of kneading you’re done or you can add about a table spoon of foam shaving cream if you want to soften up the slime. Never used it in a car before but my students go crazy for it.

IIRC the tennis ball thing worked on the Ford Chubb keys (so early to mid 80s). It was a serious enough problem to change the key/lock fitted, hence the Tibbe key replacing it. The sudden busrt of air pressure would break the internal parts of the lock

The Tennisball trick does work. Friends of my used it to steal radios in the 90s. Also old, heavily used Volkswagen keys worked on other car doors but not in the ignition.

My wife bought a new first gen Mazda 3 years ago & thieves learned if you kick the door a few inches below the key hole it would pop up the lock. She had three dents in her door in the next few months. Mazda sent a recall letter about the issue to fix the locks. The dealership told her they where also using the tennis ball technique. Unfortunately no one told the thieves that Mazda fixed the faulty locks & my wife proceeded to have more dented doors.

Tennis ball thing does work, but only on older manual locks. I've done it once. Cut the ball in half, put it over the lock and twat it. Will not work on anything with central locking or any sort of electrics on the locks, but it got me back in my '91 MX-5 one time 😂

the tennis ball trick works, but only on cars with pneumatic car locks. It worked on mk II and III vw golfs, but we used to cut the ball in half and used it that way

Jackie Tohn is an amazing talent and I was shocked to see her pop up here. For like 2 seconds. Then I remembered that she would easily fit the vibe of donut and could easily outshine everyone else on the channel comedically. And she can sing. Bring her back, please.

I could almost buy the tennis ball trick pushing the lock pins up(skeptical there's enough pressure, but it's at least at the edge of plausibility that air pressure could do that), but you'd need to simultaneously be trying to turn the lock to make it work. Even if the tennis ball could create enough pressure to push the pins, twisting it to turn the lock would be virtually guaranteed to break the seal and that's immediate game over.

The first one works because of the abrasion of the baking soda. But the foaming is just an acid/base reaction of the lemon juice reacting with the baking soda. Baking soda an on damp paper towel would be just as effective, and save the lemon to make lemonade.

In about 2002 we went to another city here in Germany to meet some people. The car (Audi Coupe) was parked on the street. When we went back it was open and backpacks, handbags, cameras and so on were stolen. We called the police to file a report. They told us it is actually quite easy to get into this type of car. You only need a tennis ball. Maybe it works only with some types of central locking, the hydraulic ones not the electric?

One hack that I like to use is putting drops of scented oils on my cabin airfilter. Since mine is right underneath the glovebox I can reach in grab it, put whatever smell I want and put it back. Typically what I do for my gf is put 15 drops (not on the same spot I spread out the drops) of lavender. She loves it. The smell isn’t so strong but it lasts for a few months

When someone doesn't even know the difference between vice grips and a table vise, it clearly shows they know nothing about mechanics let alone cars. This just made the video feel awkward!

The tennis ball trick actually works on some Mercedes Modells from the 1980's, tried that in one of my own, just cant remember if it was a W123 or W201. Was about 20 years ago... Should also Work in Others Cars with vacuum driven door openers!
