As an owner of a similar car, I would highly argue against the term “bargain” for this car. It has been a year ever since I purchased this car brand new, and I have been to dealer service centers at least 10 times. The 120,000 “supercar” arrived with 7 miles on odometer and a warning regarding the gearbox, which then required the dealer to replace the entire gearbox. Next at 800 miles, the infotainment started going on and off, got it fixed at the dealer, and it started going on and off again, got it replaced at the dealer, the issue persists. And the cherry on top, the car was squeaking when I first got it, and when I took it to the dealer, turned out it is missing some bolts and screws!!! That is what happens when you buy a supercar from Chevy.

Sometimes I love how it looks, sometimes I think they could have done more to make it special. I think some angles make it look bulky and not flow, particularly the rear end. But then other angles it looks like an insane fighter jet and is super cool. Im sure driving it, I'd stop caring lol. 😀😀

You can rev it up past 3000 RPM. If you pull both paddle shifters at the same time you can rev it to redline.

Convertible clarification: it's not just ease of use. It allows the trunk to be preserved because there is no top to stow; but most importantly, far less wind buffeting in the cabin especially at speed.

The reason why they charge more for the unpainted carbon fiber wheels is because you need to take special care how the grain looks like (usually manual labor). When you paint them you can mess up the grain as long as their structure is satisfying.

I think if they added texture to the leather. The C6 zo6 had colored stitching on the dash and seats if u get the right option, that should be a factory option on the c8, it would add more flavor to the interior without making it too flashy

Doug I loved you’re video on the Lincoln town car I really would love a video featuring a 96-98 Lincoln mark 8 they’re hard to come by and are such unique cars. They rly are a luxury 4 speed version of an early 2000s mustang and we’re the first car to feature the 4.6 cobra engine and were the last production coupes Lincoln has made to date w only about 1300 models in they’re 1998 collectors edition model which I own. Nothing is a bargain when corrupt, greedy dealers get involved. When GM announced a $52K starting MSRP for the new Corvette, I was ready to do what I never would before: buy one. But the usual players nixed that idea.

The "won't get something at sticker" is steadily making the case to kill the dealership model (if they haven't already done so with questionable customer service ethics)

I also like how you got into the details of the interior and the controls, and how they function and interact with the driver, something not seen too much in other videos about the Z06. With that, I admit, if I could buy it, I would. It's like a cross between the Batmobile and the Mach 5. It's brutal and takes no prisoners, and does "supercar" openly and honestly. I do think that this car deserves a 7 instead of 6 on styling score, I mean look at how beautiful it is compared to other new cars.

Totally agree with U..I know that trunk space seems important but gives it a weird tooo long ass look..and anyway everything melts back there..I'd have kept only the frunk..but thats just an opinion. Great video!! 👍👏

I have 2 C8s. This one is a 2LT coupe, and I took delivery of a Z06 2 weeks ago. I'm currently selling both of them. The 2LT has had 3 trans services and a trans replacement. The Z06 was throwing a low trans fluid pressure CEL code as they pulled it off the truck. They changed the valve body in it and it ran OK for 180 miles. CEL came back on. I was thinking my 2LT was just a factory F-up, but apparently my brand spanking new Z06 is doing the same damn thing. I'm flipping both. Someone else can deal with it. That aside, they sound nice and perform great when they work. They just don't work. My 2LT has been down for a total of 8 weeks over the past 20 weeks.

I'm glad that Chevy is actually finally competing with big guys. The last few years of the Vette has impressed me, keep in mind, I have been through the 80's and 90's Vettes, ok power, all plastic inside, really cheaply made, I never desired one. The last few years, I am kind of blown away. I would be hunting one of these down if I made another $75K a year... Time to find a new job :)

I like how GM is too scared to try anything cool or outside thinking with all their vehicles being really safe bets. Then there's this. I wish they'd attempt more awesome stuff like this.

1) I so want Chevy to do a shortened version (maybe only Z06 & ZR-1 versions) without the trunk area. Granted…only if we see a noticeable performance gain. 2)there definitely will be a even higher performance edition (ZR-1 if gas powered, probably called something else if electric enhanced).

You can rev the C8 when its parked! you have to hold both right and left shift paddles together at the same time while you hit the accelerator and it will rev over the soft limiter

One of the most enthusiastic "THZIIISSS" I ever heard from Doug. So I could immediately tell he's so excited about this car.

By the way, the reason why many carbon fiber options are more expensive if the part is "unpainted" with just the clear coat over the component is that there is a lot of work involved in getting the weave of the carbon fiber to line up properly and look nice. You don't want any junctions between two pieces of carbon fiber in the visible area of the part, which is a non-issue if the part will get painted anyway. Look at interior pictures of some racing cars with carbon monocoque for example, the part is made from carbon fiber just because it's lighter than steel or aluminium and it's unpainted to save weight, there the weave is all over the place, the individual pieces of the weave are lined up all crooked and the junctions are ugly, because there no one cares what it looks like as long as it saves weight.

Carbon fibre wheel clarification: the unpainted wheels cost more because more work is put into making sure the weave is symmetrical. The painted carbon fibre wheel has a random unsymmetrical weave underneath it.

I’m a fan of the long row of buttons in lieu of knobs and dials with lcd screens.

Nice build! I would have made calipers black or orange if that had been available! I would like to see one in Elkhart lake blue! Temperatures controls are simple, top half of stack are driver's, bottom half are passenger's. Most reviewers make a big issue out of this feature! Very easy to use after driving the car. The vertical stack is sorta like a throw back to the old vettes vertical radio, cool feature! If you have enough money to buy a z06 you might as well buy a c8 for your leisurely Sunday drives! Use your z06 for track days!

Excellent review Doug. So I happened to surprise my wife with a 2022 C8 LT2 with the Z51 package. We both had corvettes when we first met in our twenties. So, it was a sentimental purchase. I've been a car enthusiast since I was a teen. Had muscle cars, then bought my first vette 1962 at 21. It was semi customized, and it was and still is beautiful. It was a great feel to own, just not a great drive. but a head turner! So, she took delivery of the C8 in March of 2022. She now has 11k miles on it (two long road trips attributed to half that mileage). She has no hesitation pushing the envelope with it. We do track it locally and even get it on a drag strip with some of the muscle cars. I am not a typical collector as we own them to use and really enjoy them. We've had several other corvettes, and the C8 is impressive as its unlike any of the previous generations. The mid engine dual 8 speed clutch and much more chevy implemented changed the game for the corvette. Now it's a far cry from the two Ferrari's. A 2020 F8 Tributo & 2019 Ferrari 488 GTB! You're also talking about a hugh sticker price difference. We have 7 adult children and our 5th grandchild due soon, but there is still room for another car. I always wanted a Z06, so I have one on order, but a 2023 delivery is questionable. The vettes are just in my blood, but lean towards the Italian super cars.

The revving may not work in Park, but some cars allow you to rev once you shift to Neutral. Great review as always, Doug!

The camera mirror is a cool feature. I have it in my Cadillac. My only gripe with it is that after driving for an hour it gets really hot. So now I only use it when I need it in instances where I have passengers in the rear blocking the view.

Guys its nice that you guys get to test the car and tell us about it. We only wish Chevy would get the car out to the people that really want to own and drive the car. It seems that unless you have a you tube channel or are related to a stealership you can't get one? I am on several lists but only one (Leach Wilson) in Shelbyville IL is willing to sell me the car at MSRP, Aaron there is awesome and is constantly staying in contact? I want to buy a Z06 with the with the Z07 exterior package and the 3LZ interior package. Most stealers such as Golf Mill, Napleton, and Dominion are telling me its at least 100K over list. Golf Mill was the worst stating they'll buy whatever they want and auction it off to the highest bidder. The guys at Leach Wilson have been awesome. I know Chevy can't control what the stealers are charging, but they can control the allocations. C'MON CHEVY GET THE CARS TO THE PEOPLE THAT WANT TO OWN THEM NOT RESELL THEM. At 280 K I'll go buy a Lambo, a Ferrari or an Audi.

8:38 Doug, put the car in Neutral as it's slowing down (under 15kmph) and Rev, that's the trick to getting around that not letting you Rev sitting still issue.

Even though I sometimes imagine owning and driving a supercar like a Lamborghini one day, they can be very expensive to maintain at times as while this one is still expensive, it at least is affordable than most exotics as it has the looks of a supercar to get people’s attention and I definitely would dream of owning a Corvette C8 Z06 like that one day.

The difference between the coupe and convertible, in the C8, is much more than ease of top removal. Airflow is much different. The C8 coupes (like C7, and prior models) buffet quite a bit at speed when the wind is down. For those of us that enjoy our top down motoring it is a much more pleasant experience.

Beautiful. I saw the White version with Black Rims and red details on it, it was just amazing. When people's are willing to paid 100k over the MSRP...It's just make me think that there's a lot of people (too many people's) with huge amounts of money in this world.

One thing about the revving in park situation, you can probably just put the car in neutral, set the Parking brake, and give her the beans.. shouldn't have any issues getting it to redline

I think you're right on the Z06 being too performance focused for some, but that's also a Z07 package, and a non Z07 in comfort mode with street tires should be more forgiving in that regard.

Awesome video yet again.

This interior is bottom of the barrel in terms of what can be optioned. When it’s decked out in carbon fiber it looks significantly different and right up there with some of the super cars that are $100k plus more in price.

Personally, I think the base wheels look SOOOOOO much nicer than the boring, black 5 star, carbon fiber wheel option. The base wheels look even better when they're either polished or painted Hyper Silver. Doug, you forgot to mention that the main reason the rear hips are wider are so they can house those meaty 345 width tires.

Corvettes are my favorite sports car. Period. Maybe the reason for this is that it is ( relatively) affordable for speed and (now) refinement. I love that the Zo6 is different from the standard Vette

Doug, I have a ‘22 HTC, fully optioned, and I’m glad I didn’t opt for the Z06, …and here’s why: After taking the Ron Fellows course - in which they use stock Z51 C8s - I came to the blunt realization that I will NEVER be able to come close to experiencing the full capability of my non-Z06. Maybe…IF I were to fully track it and spend gobs of time and money supporting the track hobby. Not that I wouldn’t love the Z06 status of having one, the sound, all that, but I would be spending $150k instead of the $100k I have already spent, without really being able to drive it to the level that it is capable of.

It would’ve been crazy if they made the zo6 doors open butterfly or scissor as a cool feature for getting the top trim corvette

What's old is new again in regards to the soft close rear cargo door. I remember that being an often problematic feature in '80s cars (like the F body) due to the cheap plastic gears in the electronic motors.

You can rev it to redline when stopped but you have to pull both paddles in to do it.
