As a woman, I find that over sexualized female characters silly and childish. But cmon. If they’re fighting evil doing parkour all over the place, they have to be fit! Having characters that reinforce being healthy is super important!

I don’t considered it as immature or bad for the female image, but too much of the same thing just makes diversity and inclusion a little slow. IOWs, all extremes without diversity are bad. As a straight male gamer, I do love the damsels in distress trope and the sexy female warrior trope as well. But I also admit that we can’t have the exact same form of entertainment over and over without expansion and diversity. Like I said, when it comes to fantasy it’s important to explode the extremes because exaggerations can be very entertaining, the thing that I disagree is refusing to expand entertainment. Too much damsel in distress without female warriors and too much sexualized female warriors without standard clothing can be bad, but NOT because it’s immature or sexist, it’s because it’s doesn’t expand concepts and portrayals. In conclusion, it’s important to make room for diversity and progress in the entertainment industry. But… we shouldn’t take it sooo seriously and totally relying on it because the extremes can be good in the fantasy world, but not in real life. 🤗

I mean more expansions like more outfits for women instead of just the sexy ones, women saving men as well instead of ONLY men saving women, ect. I do care about representation, but not to the point of being sooo obsessed with appropriating marginalized groups to the 100%. Don’t forget that makes marginalized groups feel different or special, and don’t forget that also makes limitations to entertainment and freedom of speech. I doubt they make their characters fat in the games have have character creation that allows it. All the fat characters I see are usually men. That said, I don’t make my characters unrealistically curvy with gigantic legs, small heads and gigantic boobs like Korean games do, for instance. They take the word “sexualization” to a whole new level.

We have plenty of disabled people in games already They’re just not in wheelchairs, just super cool tech that enables them. That’s the kind of fantasy a disabled person should aspire for. I like my characters fit and looking good, but if they have skewed body parts with just the intent of looking sexy to teenagers, defying art style and lore, I find it weird and childish.

We don't need obese versions of super heroes and we don't need to remove beauty from games because some people (a minority) are insecure about themselves. If a game like the SIMS (never played it) can offer a wide range of customization that's good.
