They seem to have timed their action well. Poo Tin's forces are fully committed on the front lines with Ukraine, with very little left in reserve in Russia itself to deal with this. If they could deal with it, it would have been over in a day or so, the mere fact they are still there is very suggestive that Russia has very little left to deal with this when they are desperately trying to get through Ukrainian lines. They may be forced to pull reserves from the front to deal with it and that would make any assault even less likely to succeed than it already was. I don't think they'd be capable of a drive to Moscow itself, despite the rhetoric, but they are a running sore, inflicting casualties and massive embarrassment on Poo Tin whose lackeys claim they were destroyed etc. Still unclear what numbers, but probably hundreds at best, but with little there but some Rosgardia to resist, they are creating a situation disproportionate to their numbers and causing evacuation of civilians from the area to some degree at least. 7800 vehicles from Belgorod heading east, average 3 to a vehicle, that's over 23,000 people just from Belgorod itself. That's significant.
