Agree, unfortunately Moskow has never been held accountable for anything. Last night I was reading about how Stalin and Felix Dzerzhinsky (founder of Cheka/NKVD/KGB/FSB) poisoned Lenin, most likely through his food by the hands of a cook. I believe the cook was Spiridon Putin, Lenin's chef and later the chef of Stalin (who was extremly paranoid, so he had to trust his cooks). Spiridon Putin was NKVD and KGB Vladimir and Igor Putin's (Vladimir Putin's cousin) grandfather. I'm anti Communism and don"t care for the psychopat Lenin, but I find this very interesting and wish the truth would come to light.

I whole heartedly agree. Americans should be reminded of this. I raise the issue whenever possible. Never underestimate the American tendency to get lost in domestic politics however. Or a strong sense of isolationism that has always been present in the US. That said, popular support, or antagonism against Putin, remains reasonably strong here.

I am immersed in Ukraine. Every day listening to the war news and channels like this. I do not consider it unhealthy but essential to keeping our morals alive. Like being vegan. @@goenzoy712 what type of power? Is that the same potent power as that in a stable psycho-socially functional and healthy society that can get stuff done successfully, like UK, USa, germany, austria, and others? No, russia is and has been for over 170 years, relatively -speaking, a dysfunctional joke in terms of everything almost (and most russian writers of any type, going way back admit this readily!), and most importantly, military adventures like: the Crimea War in the early 1850's, which was "humiliating" on an extreme. The 1904/'05 war with Japan, in which a rising asian power obliterated the Ru army forces in the first well -documented battles, the Ru army troops didn't have a snowball's chance in hell to survive or win, and then the entire Ru naval fleet was taken out in i think it was one day or two days. Pretty pathetic. Then in the big wars, ru suffered mightily as it mismanaged and 'spent' ppl like they were not human beings. Most of us who know anything about history, and sociology, anthro, psych, and military operations, believe that ru's days are numbered. Get...ready.

Another thought-provoking broadcast. Thank you, Happy New Year & Slava Ukraini! 💙💛 (may democracy prevail this year!) About the media reporting: That got me thinking. To me, as a Western-European, having never been to RuZZia (before 2018), Putin made sense. He had clever speeches and I didn't séé the danger in him. Up to 2014 it seemed the man had some value to us, in Europe. We were wáy to busy with our own, Western-European integration to really watch his moves. So, apart from the political "a bigger fear of him losing than of him winning" (which is not true anymore, I might hope), I think there is also the bias of the clever criminal. Hamas bad. Stupid, young guys with guns wreaking havoc in Israel. Putler played a very clever game, so I think there still is a lot of cognitive dissonance; that he will "come to his senses". Much like you see in the GOP, with their Maga-freaks and now Mike Johnson. So you get reporting about "you see? He's willing to stop this, if only ... " - after which the silence starts. Because there is no "if". But that, in the West, is a very bizarre phenomenon; we usually work things out "the civilised way". At least, we tend to think we did for the past 60, 70 years. Or we were at least "fighting for the right cause" (which is very much debatable, of course).

These actions are those of a mafia style, revengeful gangster. Not an army of strong military integrity. They have lost 40,000 at Avdivka alone so far.One day alone they lost 1,400! The tanks and other vehicles lost are staggering and would take me ages to write about. 87% of an original battle force is gone. I pray for Ukraine and for equipment and arms to be sent. NIGHTWALKER camouflage suits and pointers for night vision are being requested. If anyone wants to send it rock on!!! America could loosen up some of its reserves, old tanks included but who knows if they are just afraid. Women in Russia are going to be finding in the future the situation for them is going to be facing a different way. They will become breeding machines and more subservient to the decreased number of men left alive. Look around you girls, open your eyes. The National Wealth Fund is going down and down. this is exactly right, as she says, that without unity (and i'd add truely fully capable military assets into either Ukr hands or discreet operations of a coalition of allies using their mil assets) Ukr's end-of-war situation won't be acceptable, if they even have any victory of any meaning or magnitude, i'd say. This is so basic and so classic. It's basic basic warfare, AND unless we, the countries with capacity and military operational know-how, get ..on..the friggin ball, Ukr is likely to be SOL (shit out of luck). This is rapidly getting severely serious, for a few reasons including that Ru's are deeply engrained in the buffer zones ,etc. It will take specific machinery and weapons to deal with that fact. Guess what that means? It likely means good old american and UK know-how, pssibly german as well, IF the Ukr's don't come up with their own solutions (and the equipment they really don't have, from what i gather, though i could be wrong). This type of engineering is what some american co's and outfits are very very very good at ,and i know some german and austrian and swedish and other norsk, and UK entities are as well. Let's get...IT>..DONE. I went to a uni program of high caliber in international politics. There is no alternative to making sure Ukr has a solid victory. This is so basic.

Mr. Selenski‘s biggest mistake has been to neglect a faster increase in fighting force on the ground!Apparently he had the hope to stop Russia with the ‚initial‘ batch of conscripted older soldiers and volunteers! He might be good in leadership, but here he made a huge mistake! On the other side we in the West (I am German) have to blame ourselves for doing not enough which would be possible - how should we get tens of thousands of capable refugees in Poland and Germany primarily to get back home to support the battle - if we are not willing to go (at least a bit) All In by ourselves - it‘s a pitty that especially German chancellor Scholz and his peer Biden are reluctant to let Russia loose this colonial war! The 2est and Ukraine have neglected heavily to position Russias colonial war as what it really is in the global South! We are still too busy in selling morale foreign politics with female focus - this is not well received in the southern hemisphere!

It would be more interesting to show new perspectives, theories, or personal experiences by Silicon´s special guests. Apart from that, this channel here is surely one of the best.

Putin has notoriously ignored peace treaties. Why would you negotiate with him. The Budapest Memorandum is ironic here. Under the agreement, the signatories (Russia, Britain, USA) offered Ukraine "security assurances" in exchange for its adherence to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and for Ukraine to surrender the Soviet era Nukes on their soil).
@GwynBleys
@GwynBleys 4 місяці тому
Heave you read the memorandum? It prohibited direct political interference such as Senior US official standing in the middle of Kiev and encouraging rioters to kill Police. And it guaranteed peoples self determination such as succession from the state in case if any group of people felt threatened or appressed by the government.

Her story of classmates who were russian speaking, from a heavily russified region, who are now all fighting at the front for Ukrainian freedom, calls out all the trolls and so called commentators who peddle this nonsense. The world without Ukraine is easy to imagine because it did not exist as a state in 1775-1917 and 1921-1991. And its absence immediately caused both WWI and WWII that would never happen otherwise. Austrian, German and Muscovite empires would never fight for Galicia in western Ukraine on 1914, there would be no USSR on 1922 and the Third Reich would be stopped in Poland on 1939 just like Muscovy in Ukraine on 2022.

There’s certainly a moral dimension to helping Ukraine. However, let’s get real on a few points: 1. Ukraine has conveniently showed that the Russians are no match for NATO. 2. There’s no strategic loss to NATO if Russia wins the war it started. 3. A Russian victory is a problem for Europe in terms of refugees and covert attacks on Russians, anywhere. 4. Europe is going to have to fund more of its defence and will inevitably no longer be able to lean on Americans. 5. The seized Russian funds are never going to go to Ukraine.
@blackcountrylad464
@blackcountrylad464 4 місяці тому
Point 2 is very wrong. If russia is allowed to defeat Ukraine, russia absolutely WILL continue. They have stated this over and over. That continuation will involve invading a NATO country (Moldova, the Baltic States, Finland, take your pick). This will drag NATO into a full blown war. Point 5 is your opinion and I disagree. russian funds will, I believe, end up helping for war reparations. Slava Ukraini 🇬🇧🇺🇦💛💙

The few ATACMs rockets that Ukraine was given this fall were past their shelf life. These weapons were about to be destroyed. Yet we still keep these weapons largely unavailable to the Ukrainians. In my opinion, the reason for this could be summarized in a popular western myth, shared with Russia, that Kyiv would fall in 3 days. The west truly believed in this, and still can’t quite separate from this line of thinking. The problem of course, is the unnecessary prolongation of this war
@SiliconCurtain
@SiliconCurtain 4 місяці тому
I’m not sure this is the reason. Rather it’s a fear of Russian collapse and fragmentation of a nuclear power.
@andrewk4319
@andrewk4319 4 місяці тому
Agreed, this could be one of the reasons, but I was listening to your guest who gave a very special explanation. Ukrainians fight for their freedom and their survival, which was why kyiv could never fall in 3 days for anyone remotely familiar with the history of the Ukrainian revolution. The west, just like Russia, is frequently unaware of this motivation

I wonder what Dr Sasha Dovzhyk thinks about the quotes from Vitali Klitschko in the New York Post. Yes this is a mediocre publication in the United States, but him being quoted comparing Zelensky to Putin has a lot of people wondering if Ukraine even wants to continue the war. In addition, it adds fuel to to the calls for Ukraine to negotiate peace by giving away the territories occupied. Russia is on the ropes. Why would someone like the Mayor of Kyiv, a well know boxer, not recognize this and instead sow discord?

my family on whom I depend to a greater or lesser extent, I am 72 years old physically disabled and I live in the Netherlands. Nobody cares about what happens in Ukraine. it is far away. Here in the Netherlands there is little to no support in the population as far as I know. I am the only one who supports Ukraine with the purchase of a coffee cup for €100 or a sticker with a tractor that tows a Russian tank for €50, I actually feel like I have been cheated. How do I know that I am not a smart Canadian gives money and enriches himself I have a strong feeling that that prevents me from donating more I don't feel like being a patreon of a handy UKpostsr who writes a nice story every day and has 400,000 subscribers, not a single note there that he donates 50% or something like that to a good cause

I support Ukraine too on a very small scale. I donate through the organization United24 ( it is an organization from the president) But i think i am a big exception. But my fiancée is an Ukrainian woman, that makes a big difference, it means i am involved too. But Ukraine is not so far away. When Russia will have taken Ukraine, Moldova will be the next victim, and who knows maybe even the Baltic States and even Poland.
