DBFZ really is a game made for fans. Each of the finishes here and even most of the characters moves are pulled directly from another source, whether it be the manga, anime, movies, or other games. It's fun to see all the references being made. The game itself is a 3v3 tag fighting game and it gets really hectic. Hope you guys will be able to see more of the franchise.

Oh boy, the dramatic finishes of DBFZ are one of the harder things to react as an outsider of the franchise, as all of them are either references to things happening in the series or just finishers to please fans. The series itself is honestly really great. In a really short summary, you basically follow the protagonist called Goku or “Kakarot” from a young age up to his adulthood, as he’s training and training to become the strongest possible, which results in him meeting a lot of new friends and enemies. The scaling of the power used, though, have gotten to insane levels. It started at a level of him being able to survive being hit by a car and being shot, and now he’s a literal god, fighting with more than enough power to destroy multiple universes. Just to give you an idea, in his first battle as a god (called Super Saiyan God) he and his opponent, the God of Destruction, Beerus, were litterally about to destroy the Universe just by fighting. Now, imagine the same guy, but hundreds, if not thousands or maybe even millions of times stronger than then. That’s where he’s at right now, and he’s far from being the strongest in the series. Honestly, it’s incredibly difficult to truly get into the series and understand it without spending many hours. It’s a great franchise, though, and I’d highly recommended it. Just be prepared for a lot of episodes if you go for it.

You should definitely also do all the super moves for this game.

If you want to dive deeper into the world of Dragonball, then you should react to some of the best fights from the anime. A lot of these finishers are recreations of moments from the series, and seeing the original fights would give you some narrative context. The first time Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan is one of the biggest moments in anime (and my childhood).

So you need a lot of context to understand the Dramatic Finishes. They're mostly from the canon endings of the anime Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super. Dragon Ball Z is always compared to Superman since Goku (Kakarot) and Clark Kent (Kal El) are basically one in the same. Goku is from planet Vegita that gets absolutely annihilated by Frieza. Clark Kent is from planet Krypton and Brainiac is sometimes responsible for the planet's destruction. There's over 500 episodes from the first Dragon Ball to the now Dragon Ball Super, also movies and spin offs and one (non canon at the time) storyline Dragon Ball GT. In order to get a Dramatic finish you need to be and fight specific characters on a specific stage and beat them with a specific move. Once you've done that you get these cutscenes straight out of the anime.

Kamehameha is basically just a technique that a lot of characters use in the show and in the game. It was created by Master Roshi (the Turtle Hermit and the master of the Turtle School). It took him 50 years to create/learn it but Goku (the main character) was able to do it the first time he even saw it.

Dragon Ball Fighter Z honestly requires a lot of context to understand the various references and in-jokes. Trust me that if you were a fan of the story and knew the background, the moment when Bardock interrupts his own death scene and says "No! That's pathetic!" and proceeds to massacre Frieza, you would have thought it was the coolest thing ever. And Yamcha one-shotting Nappa and making him to "the Yamcha pose" would have been hilarious. Absent the context, it's just a lot of flashing lights and screaming. Goku is the father of Gohan and Goten. Gohan ages up throughout the series, so at some points in this video you see him as a child, and others in his late teens (he's a child when he does the one handed Kamihamiha against Cell, but a teen when he, Goku and his younger brother Goten team up and blast Broli into the sun), so that's why there was a bit of confusion there. Depending on where the game is in the timeline, Gohan could be much older or much younger. At the start of the show, he's 4. By the end of the show, he's a grown man with his own child. As an adult, he looks a lot like his father aside from a slightly different build and hair cut, so to the uninitiated they might look like the same character. It doesn't help that there's also Yamcha, who wears the same uniform as they do (since he's from the same martial arts school as Goku) and also has black hair. But you can tell Yamcha apart from Goku and Gohan because you know Yamcha will be the one that's dead on the ground at the start of the fight :) The last one was a fight between two versions of Gogeta from two different continuities of the show. Gogeta is the character that results when Goku and Vegeta (the two main characters) use a technique to fuse into a single being that's monstrously more powerful than either of them. Aside from some of the most powerful angels and gods, Gogeta's by far the strongest character in the series. One version of him was from the Dragon Ball GT timeline, where he was a Super Saiyan 4, the other version of him was from Dragon Ball Super, where he was a Super Saiyan Blue (which is basically a god). There's a lot of fan debate about which version of him is stronger, so that finish was just a little nod from the makers to the fans over the debate. (Spoiler alert: Super Saiyan Blue is waaaaaaaaaaaaay stronger than SSJ4).

This is kind of technical but it's so impressive how they made 3D models act like 2D animation. Alot of these models are actively warping like 2D animation which takes a lot of work. Like for example 6:21 to make Cell do that in 2D you just draw it out but in 3D you got to make a rig that can stretch the face that much on top of the key frame animation. This game, Granblue Fantasy Verus, and Guilty Gear Strive put in a lot of work to sell the look. Strive even had 3 different lighting systems just to pop the characters out more.

Kamehame is what the whos sing in whoville made me laugh so hard. You guys are hilarious! Hope you are enjoying these Japanese-style games cuz I’ve become a fan of them myself. Keep up the good work!

A lot of people have already explained what the dramatic finishes are and how familiar with the franchise you need to be. But I feel a good first step, at least from what I’ve seen, to look up something called “Death Battle: Goku vs Superman” That gives very short summaries of the character’s history, feats, and achievements. Then they make a animated battle to show who would win against the other. It doesn’t give out anything of the whole franchise, but knowing the main character and their details tends to help put the foundation of where they’re from down steady.

DragonBall is a great way to start you adventure with animes. It's simple and fun. You guys can watch it or pick some videos that cut it short for y'all! If y'all want to watch it, follow the order : -DragonBall > Dragonball Z > DragonBall Super

Kamehameha translates to 'turtle destruction wave'. Turtle because it was developed by the sensei of the 'turtle school of martial arts'. It's one of the master class techniques of his teachings. Everyone who uses the technique is either the sensei himself, someone who learned it from him whether directly through teaching or as the sort of fighting prodigy who can see a technique once and copy it, or someone who learned it secondhand from someone who learned it from the sensei. And before anyone says anything, yes Cell is covered by that umbrella term. He's a hybridized genetic clone of over a dozen people, and around half of those people are those who knew the technique by the time their DNA was harvested.

Vegito ( the dude with the earrings ) is just gogeta but with earrings , he was the First Fusion character introduced to the franchise , where Goku and Vegeta had to use the earrings to fuse . The Potara ( the name of the Earrings ) Fusion is however much stronger then the regular one , but it dosnt last that long , lol.

Idk if anyone else explained it but When they change their hair, they pretty much power up to to a second form. The beginning ones where it’s just blonde is , super saiyan, there’s super saiyan 2 and 3 as well and they have different hairstyles too and have different stats as well. After that is super saiyan god, Which is red. After that is super saiyan god super saiyan blue. (Basically super saiyan 1 but God version.) then after that they have Ultra instinct (grey/white hair) There’s a technique where two people can fuse and turn into a powerful being. Usually only goku and vegeta are the only ones to turn into two different powerful beings, Vegito and Gogeta Either using those earrings that help them change or a special dance they need to perform to change in that order. As people say, there’s a non canon spin off series called DragonBall GT where they’re able to turn into super saiyan 4 and they still have their tail, and since they do they able to turn into a giant ape. (In the canon series DBZ, he had his tail but was cut off, not in this series though.) So the finisher where there’s the guy with the tail, he’s just another version of Gogeta, From DBGT. There are different universes in this anime so the “she-hulk” girl was other two people into one. Names caulfina and Kale turning into Kefla.

Watching you guys be perplexed about super saiyan hair was pretty entertaining, how'd you miss out on DBZ my guy? You were the target demographic when it was super huge in the West in the early/mid 90s

To give you guys some very brief context of what DBZ is... Basically it's a show/manga about a bunch of really powerful fighters who protect the earth/universe from evil bad guys of escalating power. Goku is the main protagonist, and most of the other characters in the show are his friends and family members, including former enemies who become allies. When their hair changes colour it's because they're changing into more powerful forms called super saiyans, and there are a bunch of different variations/levels of those with the gold/blue/red hair, etc. It's a long saga with multiple timelines, lots of characters who are killed and then get resurrected stronger, characters who are actually two characters temporarily fused into one being, and other complicated stuff like that. In this game, instead of having just one Goku character, for example, who can transform into all his super saiyan forms, they have several of his forms available as different playable characters in the roster. Same goes for other characters that have multiple forms/ages/alternate universe versions. Although, as you saw, they do show the transformations happen in some of these special cutscenes which only occur under very certain conditions. DB FighterZ is a beloved game because it's just a good fighting game in its own right, while also being a love letter to fans of the anime with matching art style, animation, and sound design, as well as having all/most of the same voice actors doing the voices in both English and Japanese.

Kamehameha was originally the name of a Polynesian king, the creator of the anime I then named gokus signature move after him both because it's a catchy name and I assume also BC in the dbz universe it means "turtle destruction wave" which thematically gell with a king of an sea fairing island nation connected to the ocean.

It's vaguely based on Sun Wukong of chinese mythology. In Japan he's called Sun Goku which is the main character. I'm guessing thats why that red Goku had a tail. I haven't seen the show but I know that much.

Dbfz uses a lot of reference to the source material for its dramatic finishers. And Archos is known for doing ridiculous level animation for their games. Their insta kills for Guilty Gear XRD are also crazy. If you want a funny quick intro into DBZ watch TFS's DBZ abridged. Its early episodes are aged and take a bit to get into. But it has one of the best runs to completion of any abridged series. Even if they ended it on a certain arc. Its still a Perfect ending.

Tatsunoko VS Capcom supers would be cool, it's a game that flew under the radar for having Capcom fight an anime studio that is only truly big in Japan, with all the wackiness and awesomeness that implies.

Since you're going into the anime stuff, here's two suggestions ! 1st : For another friday fight night you have Granblue Fantasy Versus characters intros ! 2nd : What about a character draft with the Granblue Fantasy Versus Character trailers ? :D For your other channel it would be really cool to have some sort of a serie about the most "iconic" and "hyped" moments in anime serie just like dragon ball Z (fights, huge events, introductions this kind of thing :D) For the lore of dragonball... well... it's an absolute mishmash and you have multiple secret techniques as fusions, ascencion powers just like the super saiyan (which is some sort of power up given to a certain race of semi-humans to which Goku, Vegeta, Broly, Bardock and some others you have seen in this) but let's make some sort of a quick explanation on how it started... In the universe you have a planet called Vegeta, that was threatened by the emperor Freezer (the little white and purple alien). Bardock tried his best to defend the planet and died defending it against Freezer after defeating a great part of Freezer's army, according to the first lore of the series. (There are alternate realities too in which he survives and even become the very first super Saiyan and becomes stronger than anyone etc. But let's stick to the main scenario lol) meanwhile Bardock tried to resist as much as he could some children of this planet were sent away in space to ensure the future of the saiyan race (Kakarot is one of them, you hear Bardock scream it when dying. Kakarot is basically Goku (Son goku) father of Gohan and Goten... Hope you're still following !) Goku then arrives on earth and is taken care by a human named Gohan (his grand father, and he names his first son after his granpa as you might have understood). An entire story happens as Goku is a kid where he meets lots of people on earth and goes on an adventure. (You see one of them. Yamcha, the one that gets caught and obliterated by the green alien). Then as Goku grows as an adult (that's debatable as he usually acts as a teenager), earth gets invaded by Saiyan peoples (Vegeta, Radditz and Nappa, only the 3 of them). Since Saiyan are naturally far stronger than humans, with superpowers, Goku is one of the few that can resist them. And so he does, following these events Vegeta turn from villain to a hero and becomes goku's rival. After these major events tons of things happens one after another and you see in that video most of the villains Goku and his friends encounter afterward. (Freezer, Cell, Broly, Buu etc etc...) Hope it's a bit clearer now !

Fun Fact: The two characters at the end who exchange kamehamehas are the same fusion of the same 2 characters. They're both Gogeta but one is SSGSS (Super Saiyan God Blue) and the other is SS4 (Super Saiyan 4). But if they every meet like that then the world is fucked. hope you found that interesting.

So the hair color change is a transformation called a ”super saiyan” and there are multiple levels of that with each giving more power to the user all of them right now are Super saiyan 1 Super saiyan 2 Super saiyan 3 All of these above have yellow hair Super saiyan 4 Non-canon transformation with a lot of hair on the body and black hair Super saiyan god Red hair Super saiyan god super saiyan or just super saiyan blue Blue hair and this transformation can be done when a user has the power of the previous super saiyan god and then with that power tranform into a super saiyan and you get super saiyan blue. Forgot to mention but these ”super saiyan” forms can only by used by saiyans, saiyans are like humans but they are born with a tail, they can fly, they have extreme strenght, they age slower than humans, and a lot more Most famous saiyan characters in dragon ball are Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, Bardock, Broly, Goten, there might he some that i’m forgetting but here are some, it might seem like a lot but sadly there isn’t a lot of saiyans left because most of the entire saiyan race is dead caused by a huge attack from the evil emperor Frieza I won’t go any further into this but if you have any questions or if you can’t figure something out you can just ask me :)

To really get the importance of the Dramatic Finishes you have to know the context of each one and to do that you need to watch the series. But these are nice to watch on their own, glad you guys did so. If you decide to watch Dragon ball I would recommend Dragonball, then Dragonball Z Kai, the reason why I recommend Kai is because Kai is more or less true to the original manga story with no fillers, Dragonball Super is scattered between fillers and main story so there's no way to separate the two. I'd also recommend watching certain movies in particular DBZ Broly, Battle of the Gods, Resurrection F, and finally DBS Broly.

Would love to see u guys react to some dragon ball stuff from the anime. Especially the fights. They're just too gorgeous. I'd recommend: 1. UI Omen Goku vs Jiren 2. MUI Goku vs Jiren 3. Oh i know what yall would love. Yall need to react to Death battle. there are some Death battles featuring DBZ chars, but theres also a ton of other characters from other shows like Deadpool, Sonic, various comic book characters and other video game characters and typically they pic characters from different universes who have similar traits. Using DBZ as an example, Goku vs Superman. they are kinda long-ish, but you learn a lot about the characters and they are fun to watch. as time has gone on, they have gotten really good at their animating fights also, i dont know if it has been suggested, but watching yall react to Dragonball Z Abridged would be amazing. you kinda get the gist of what happens in the actual show, even if some of it is heavily exaggerated for comedic purposes lol

@Definatly Not Definitive If you decide to watch Dragonball Z I would suggest you read or watch Dragonball first as it is a prequel to the events of DBZ and introduces a lot of characters from when they were much younger and is basically Goku's origin story (on Earth at least). it also shows the origins of the Kamehameha wave and it is much more of a comedic shonen a lot of the time, DBZ kicks it up on the fighting elements.

SPOILER ALERT. ABOUT ALL THE FIGHTS SHOWN IN THE VIDEO. No need to read this, it's awfully long. BARDOCK VS FRIEZA: It's the backstory of Planet Vegeta, the planet where the race of Saiyans grew up on. Frieza wanted to blow the planet up, and in the story Bardock, Goku(Kakarot)'s Father, is the only one who understand his intentions and tries to fight him 1v1, unlocking the Super Saiyan and overpowering Frieza in one of the versions. It's up to you to understand which one of the versions is the canonic one. YAMCHA VS NAPPA: It's not an important neither really a fight, but it's a reference to what happens during the Saiyans Saga, when 3 Saiyans on different times get on Earth to conquer it, and they find themselves facing the "Z Warriors" (like Yamcha) and Goku, the only Saiyan. It's up to you to understand how does the fight ends. GOKU VS VEGETA: The famous clash between the Galick Gun of Vegeta and the Kamehameha of Goku, which uses a special power‐up named Kaioken. GOKU VS FRIEZA: Goku landing the Genkidama Sphere, a mass of energy created by the energy of all living lifes around him, against the Emperor of the Universe Frieza, which ascended to his Final Form to be able to catch with the Z Warriors and Goku. A battle in another planet. SS GOKU VS FRIEZA: Goku awakens the Super Saiyan driven by anger against Frieza, and overpowers him. Frieza doesn't want to accept his fate and in a last desperate attempt he almost meets death from Goku's energy beam. SS TRUNKS VS FRIEZA: Trunks, the misterious young, definitely gets rid of the Emperor Frieza when he tries to destroy the home of Goku, Earth. When the guy with red hair that you guys say at the end (I’ve seen that other people have explained fusion so I’m not gonna say anything else😄) had a tail that was the transformation known as Super Saiyan 4 and the reason it’s called super saiyan is because only people who are saiyans can perform the transformation super saiyan. Saiyans are an alien race from another planet and the two protagonists Goku and Vegeta are both one of the only saiyan survivors (their planet got destroyed by Frieza the white and purple guy). The transformation that the Gogeta (the fusion dance version of Goku and Vegeta’s fusion) was in was called super saiyan 4 and there are also are SSJ 1,2 and 3 that come before it (SSJ stands for super saiyan) and the reason that SSJ4 has a tail (no other SSJ transformation has a tail) is because saiyans are naturally born with a brown or black monkey tail because well the special thing about saiyans is that they’re a warrior race and even without SSJ (it’s very hard to tap into SSJ and transform, so hard that before their race was destroyed they thought that SSJ was a legend like Bigfoot, as in they didn’t believe in it fully) they’re powerful because if they look at a moon and their tails haven’t been cut off they will turn into a giant monkey known as a Great Ape or Oozaru. They lose all sense of who or what they are and their only thought is to destroy unless someone cuts off their tail where if that happens they will go back to their normal form but they will have no more tail... until it grows back🤣 but they can learn to control their Great Ape forms and some can even speak while in the form.
