In his time, Ricky Rudd was a great NASCAR driver. No matter what car he drove, it seemed like he always found a way to win. This video goes over the history of NASCAR Driver Ricky Rudd from the time he started racing in the Cup Series in 1975 to the time he stopped racing in 2007. Happy 67th Birthday Ricky. Thanks for watching!

Great video, thanks for shedding light on such an underrated driver. i knew he was good but never considered how consistent his stats were each year, regardless of the team he was with. He was always my favorite for being competitive still as an owner driver.

Thanks. I didn't ever get to watch Ricky Rudd but he was interesting to me. I think his personality and his consistent Stats is why I liked him. Thanks for the comment.

He won his last race in Sonoma in 2002. Not to mention Pocono and Richmond in 2001. He kept winning into the early 2000's. Also he damn near won at Kansas in 2004 in a Wood Brothers Car. He was coming but ran out of laps and Joe Nemechek won it.

That Orange colored Ford Thunderbird was the coolest looking car (ever) on the grid. Rudd was always one of my favorites……Total blue chip quality, & low keyed. Great video!

Good video, Ricky Rudd was always one of my favorite drivers. That wreck he had driving for Bud Moore is the story Michael Rooker's character, Rowdy Burns, tells after not being cleared to race in Days of Thunder. The win I remember most is his win at Martinsville where Dr Jerry Punch took off his broadcasting coat and put on his doctor's coat, then interviewed Ricky while Ricky was more or less laying on the ground. He was a tough guy!

I did not know that story about Rowdy Burns. I never was able to watch Rudd but he always interested me because he seemed to always win one or two races every season. He was certainly one tough guy.

I actually knew that. I think Richard Childless always wanted Dale Earnhardt to drive for him. He just had a contract with Ricky Rudd to deal with.

Huge Rudd fan. Quiet, under-the-radar guy who was nonetheless a fierce competitor. Drove some of the coolest paint schemes- Tide, Havoline, Quaker State, etc. Had the privilege of seeing him win twice- once at Pocono and once at Richmond.

Thanks for watching. I would say in my opinion that the TIDE scheme is one of the best paint schemes ever.

If I could make some suggestions: work on your diction and don’t be afraid to do multiple takes if one doesn’t sound right! Also, don’t forget enthusiasm! If you sound bored, the audience will be bored. You clearly do your research so if you can nail down this aspect you’ll be sitting pretty 👌

Ricky Rudd was not a political driver. He did not rub elbows with the France Family. I'm here to tell you rubbing elbows with the France family was an ace in the hole. Not Rudd. I think the France family loathed him. He was always under the radar but somehow for almost 2 1/2 decades he popped up in Victory Lane. Regardless of the team he was driving for, the funding, resources or whatever, He remained relevant from 1977 all the way to 2005. I can't think of any driver in NASCAR history that just kept on trucking through 3 generations and remained a threat to win. He was a threat in 1977 just as he was in the Wood Brothers car in 2005.

Yes he was. Drivers make dirty moves frequently and don't get black flagged at all.

@@Calvin_FullerRicky was a clean respectful driver but if you messed with him messed back. I don't think he meant to turn Davey. He just got a little aggressive. He could have waited for the final lap. Some drivers, NASCAR would have let them get away with that. I'm not going to name names but the initials were Dale Earnhardt.
