Lyrics:
Came in from a rainy Thursday on the avenue
Thought I heard you talking softly
I turned on the lights, the TV, and the radio
Still I can't escape the ghost of you
What has happened to it all?
Crazy someone say
Where is the life that I recognize?
Gone away
But I won't cry for yesterday
There's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive
Passion or coincidence once prompted you to say
"Pride will tear us both apart"
Well now prides gone out the window
Cross the rooftops, run away
Left me in the vacuum of my heart
What is happening to me?
Crazy someone say
Where is my friend when I need you most?
Gone away
But I won't cry for yesterday
There's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive
Papers in the roadside tell of suffering and greed
Fear today, forgot tomorrow
Besides the news of holy war and holy need
Ours is just a little sorrowed talk
And I don't cry for yesterday
There's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive
Every world is my world
(I will learn to survive)
Any world is my world
(I will learn to survive)
Any world is my world

I found my poor sweet big brother dead in his bed on 7/30/20. That was the most devastating day of my life. I don’t remember the first few days after. But the Sunday after I put on my brave face and went to clean out his room and get it ready to be emptied. For some reason the moment I opened his door this song came into my head. I hadn’t thought about or heard it in literal years but there it was strong and clear every note and lyric. I burst into tears with the perfection of how exactly it captured what I’m going through. Thanks Duran Duran. My brother loved this song when we were teens. We both did.

Hello my friend I’m so sorry to hear of your loss, This song is actually about Simon Le Bon‘s friend David Mills who passed away in 1986, it is an absolute fantastic song,You are not on your own i to have lost a brother and a sister, sadly through suicide, they say time is a healer, but it’s not, Time accommodates,I am sending you my love and deepest warmest thoughts of sympathy to you stay strong and be brave 🌹🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

The song encourages us NOT to cry for yesterday. I have known for years the beaut of this song; but I only saw the joy in it once I was Born Again in Jesus, through the Holy Spirit (the co-author of thus divine work of art). For me this song is now about now and today. Including the moment of writing to you, which has its value and meaning, done in love and truth....

Right before my wife passed away, she made me promise her that I would move on and find happiness again. During the rough years of grieving this song served as a reminder of a promise I made to someone who I love dearly to this day. That was many years ago. Today I have a loving wife and twins in high school. This song now serves as a reminder of a promise kept. This song still makes me cry.

@@stephaniem5091 . . .thank you. No you don't get over, just thru it. . . but the loss is always with you. Wonderful memories today, about the beautiful person that she was. I only wish her son/my son had the time to spend with her. Today he is 31 . . . . the same age I was when she passed. I guess in a selfish way, when she passed I just wanted the world to stop, if only for a second. Looking back, the world has changed so much. And in my own grief, I've been able to take care of others with strength and understanding of how painful life can often be. Again thank you. . .today I am blessed. ✝️

I'm in my last year of sixth form and will be going to university in september. I'd been a target for bullying by one person for the first 5 years of secondary school until they finished compulsory schooling. It was a really painful and dark 5 years and my teenage years felt almost wasted because of what I had to go through every day. I was miserable and didn't see much of a future ahead. The loneliness of the pandemic also contributed to my feeling helpless. Hearing this song shortly after finishing Year 11 meant a lot to me though. I've listened to it a lot in the 2 years since I first heard it because it gives me a sense of closure knowing that all of the suffering is over and that I will get a fresh start in another part of the UK and an opportunity to have a more fulfilling life exploring and studying a subject I love. I can't thank Duran Duran enough for being my favourite band in the world and making me feel so much happier listening to them. This song really is a healer

Undoubtedly, the best work from Duran Duran..., I found most their songs to be too 'top 40 pop', back in the day... but this song will reach 'anyone' that ever wants to really listen - best lyrics, best vocals, best melody, best story, best video, best guitar, etc... everyone has a story, like how my love left me to marry another, after 20 years... in the vacuum of my heart... Opus Magnum, Simon Le Bon...

I agree. They were one of the best bands of the early to mid 80s. They were considered a bunch of pretty boys but they were also good musicians and songwriters. This was one of their more mature sounding songs but it's still very much them. To me the best pop music was late 70s to early 90s because that's the era I was listening to these as a child and right up until my early 20s so it resonates with me. There's a sadness to this song that is almost like me kissing goodbye to my youth back in 93 from one of my favourite bands of the era.

Believe me Winton, I was blind but now I see that a bit of the kudos here goes to the Holy Spirit, who both inspired and resides in this music, spreading out to us the mystery of God's love and mercy pervading the universe. Maybe you know instinctively that this is the truth about this music - how else can it be eternal in the way it is? How else can it transcend" How else can it make us feel ecstasy out of melancholy?

Duran Duran - Ordinary World Lyrics: Came in from a rainy Thursday on the avenue Thought I heard you talking softly I turned on the lights, the TV, and the radio Still I can't escape the ghost of you What has happened to it all? Crazy, some'd say Where is the life that I recognise? (Gone away) But I won't cry for yesterday There's an ordinary world Somehow I have to find And as I try to make my way To the ordinary world I will learn to survive Passion or coincidence once prompted you to say "Pride will tear us both apart" Well, now pride's gone out the window Cross the rooftops, run away Left me in the vacuum of my heart What is happening to me? Crazy, some'd say Where is my friend when I need you most? (Gone away) But I won't cry for yesterday There's an ordinary world Somehow I have to find And as I try to make my way To the ordinary world I will learn to survive Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh Ahh-ah-ahh Away-ay, ay-ay-ay-ay Oh, oh Papers in the roadside tell of suffering and greed Fear today, forgot tomorrow Ooh-ooh Here besides the news of holy war and holy need Ours is just a little sorrowed talk And I don't cry for yesterday There's an ordinary world Somehow I have to find And as I try to make my way To the ordinary world I will learn to survive (Every world is my world) I will learn to survive (Any world is my world) I will learn to survive (Any world is my world) (Every world is my world) Written by: Jonathan Rotem, Kisean Anderson, John Taylor, Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, Warren Cuccurullo, Michael Williams, Marty Garton Jr. Album: Duran Duran Released: 1993 Lyrics provided by Musixmatch

Not 1, not a few, but millions. But what is TRULY reaching out from the music is GOD, through the Holy Spirit. The darkness tried to take the song from us, by associating it with "The Evil Within" (Think that's by chance? Wrong. Nothing is by chance. Things have meaning) 1 John 5:19 - We know that we belong to God, and the whole world is under the power of the evil one. This is what the song is all about, and the "emotions" actually ready to explode in countless people are the sure knowledge that the world is NOT as it should be, not just enough, not divine enough, not kind enough, not sacrificing enough; too much in the hands of godless elites presiding over the chaos that is ALWAYS the hallmark of the D*v*l. Loving money and power and the monolith that keeps most of us down and out. Something new, more ORDINARY, has to break out from this - like a new butterfly from the chrysalis. ordinary truth (instead of the endless lies and fakery), ordinary love, ordinary mercy. ordinary compassion. Just what Jesus means. Just what the Holy Spirit works endlessly for - giving us signs in nature, culture (as above), Scripture and rapture. When the rapture comes it will be too late for many. So the time is now, stefano!

My wife of 22 years has spent the last month in intensive care battling a serious and life threatening illness! I’m lost without her, this song about loss, hope and the need to carry on resonates with me more than ever at this moment in time. I’m confident she will recover but for now the person I needed the most to get me through tough situations isn’t here and that’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with.

@@prettyhatemachine8887 I am from England, she was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder called Guillian barre. It is treatable and she is improving day by day. But in its acute phase it’s a very scary condition and paralysed her breathing muscles.
@prettyhatemachine8887
@prettyhatemachine8887 2 роки тому
@@MrKeefelm I'm glad she's recovering, this disorder is not a walk in the park to put it lightly. Did she take the vaccine? There's actually a big increase in Guillain barre cases this year and it's associated with the COVID mRNA vaccines. In fact, there's an increase in all kinds of autoimmune disorders and other unrelated illnesses such as some types of cancer, blood clot related diseases, certain viral diseases and more, and they all seem to be associated with those vaccines.
@MrKeefelm
@MrKeefelm 2 роки тому
@@prettyhatemachine8887 She has autoimmune problems already, under active Thyroid and a potential unconfirmed diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis. She is COVID vaccinated but that was months ago. A doctor has potentially put it down a reaction to the Flu vaccine which for some reason is pretty potent this year. My stance on vaccines hasn’t been altered by this, she’s just been very unlucky as this condition is still pretty rare. (Only around a 1000 people a year in the UK) No vaccine claims to be 100% risk free,. However I guess it would be naive to not take a more cautious approach in future.

When I first heard this song in 1993, I was 15 years old. Although it was my first time listening to it, at some inexplicable level it's as if I had heard it before a 1000 times. It spoke to me in a very deep personal way. As a confused lonely teenager I found comfort in the song and its lyrics. I felt like I didn't belong anywhere, and at the same time I didn't have anyone to share my feelings of alienation. I only had THIS song. The lyrics conveyed my feelings of sadness, fear and hope. I longed so much to find my Ordinary World. As the years went by, and my life continued through its twists and turns, I continued to come back to this song, for comfort, for peace, to grieve, to reminisce, to cherish. One of the things I discovered as I aged and matured was that the Ordinary World I yearned for so long as a teenager, was always here, within me. And thanks to this song, I found it. Thank you so much Duran Duran. This song is a gift. This song is priceless. This song is a masterpiece.

Lyrics 🎉 Came in from a rainy Thursday on the avenue Thought I heard you talking softly I turned on the lights, the TV, and the radio Still, I can't escape the ghost of you What has happened to it all? Crazy, some'd say Where is the life that I recognize? (Gone away) But I won't cry for yesterday There's an ordinary world Somehow I have to find And as I try to make my way To the ordinary world I will learn to survive Passion or coincidence Once prompted you to say "Pride will tear us both apart" Well now pride's gone out the window Cross the rooftops Run away Left me in the vacuum of my heart What is happening to me? Crazy, some'd say Where is my friend when I need you most? (Gone away) But I won't cry for yesterday There's an ordinary world Somehow I have to find And as I try to make my way To the ordinary world I will learn to survive Ooh-ooh-ooh, ah-ah Oh, yeah, oh Papers in the roadside Tell of suffering and greed Fear today, forgot tomorrow Ooh, here besides the news Of holy war and holy need Ours is just a little sorrowed talk And I don't cry for yesterday There's an ordinary world Somehow I have to find And as I try to make my way To the ordinary world I will learn to survive Every world Is my world (I will learn to survive) Any world Is my world (I will learn to survive) Any world Is my world Every world Is my world

This song is another level of music, by far their best. From it's message in the chorus'" I will learn to survive' to the mesmerizing guitar, to Simon Le Bon's perfect falsetto at the end. Simon said this song helped him to recover emotionally from the death of his friend David Miles. Amazing how powerful emotions can bring out greatness!
