Durston x-Mid 1 - Solid: Second Attempt

This week I finally received my much anticipated Durston x-Mid Solid. It was raining the day I received it but naturally I had to practice setting it up the moment it arrived so I did a quick first attempt. Today I had "nice" weather (for New England in March) so decided to do a more in-depth second attempt.
This time I used the four included long stakes for the four corners, and four small stakes for the vestibule (2) and peak guylines (2). This video is obviously sped up, but the total setup took about 7.5 minutes. I'll probably add some additional guy out points since I expect to use this tent in adverse weather, and I also plan to extend the corner guylines and probably swap out stakes for a combo of MSR groundhogs and mini-groundhogs, which I'm more used to.
Open to other suggestions (other than don't step on your tent -- I figured that out already!)

Absolutely amazing.visit k2 and Nangaparbat view point from one place.Whenever you start a short solo trip of 4-5 days, Moses Peak is a must. It is a 5300m height۔ from the top of moses pea which you can see the views of the K2 world second highest peak in the world, Nangaparbat, K6 k11 and K 12 views in one frame. best time from May to October. This is a family tracked.its open Zone, one did not need a trekking permit or have to pay Royalty fee to climbed this Mountain tower

How are you liking the solid inner wall? I can't decide between the mesh or solid inner but I know I definitely want an X-mid.

Hi Alice! I haven't had an opportunity to use the tent "in the wild" yet, and I also haven't owned any other Durston to compare it to, so I can't say with any certainty. However, I can tell you that I specifically chose the solid based on the conditions in which I plant to use the tent. I am normally a hammock camper and will only be using this tent in alpine areas where trees are not present, or in conditions in which the weather is not conducive to hammock camping. Since I expect to be using it in exposed environments and bad weather, I chose the solid to provide a little more protection from the elements. If your primary use will be in more sheltered conditions (such as a thru-hike of the AT for example) I think the all mesh inner would be worthy of consideration. Hope this helps!

I have a ZPacks Duplex and a Durston X-Mid 1P with mesh inner. For some reason I feel more exposed in the Durston tent even though the ZPacks is also mesh. They are different in that the ZPacks is a single wall tent, so maybe that is a factor. Maybe it's because the bathtub wall is a little higher in the ZPacks. Long story short I asked Dan some time back, if he's going to make a solid inner available without having to buy the entire tent just to get a solid inner and he said that it will be made available in a not so distant future. I'm definitely getting a solid inner tent for my Durston tent then. Not sure if that helps you decide :)
