When the framerate drops that means you're playing it correctly!

The thing about EDF games is that they have their own audience. You either love this series or you don't. I for one am the former. I got mad love for this series because of how campy and purposefully ridiculous it is. The absurd amount of aliens and the huge arsenal you have are enough to lose hours into. The split screen as well, I have some friends over and they will be like "that game looks like shit" and after about an hour we are all yelling EDF, EDF!

Bad voice acting? I think that was the point, at least, in the part given.

My favorite quote in the series so far is from some random dude in the first game who says "One shot is all I need" then proceeds to unload his auto-bazooka.

He talks about how the voice acting is bad then goes "but that's not what it's about" like it's a negative, then later says "bad voicing acting that edf is about" EDF's bad voice acting and stupid dialogue makes the game more interesting.

This game is ridiculously fun with multi-players. Ignore what IGN has to say and get your best buddy and if able, two more buddies and go to town. You will have an absolute blast laying waste to hordes of giant ants, spiders, robots and alien space ships. It's basically the dream game for the 9 year old boy inside all of us. Go into it knowing that it is meant to be a cheesy, B-Movie style game, grab a few beers and have an absolute blast. You won't be disappointed.

UNDERRATED game

When I first saw the game cover, I was like "this game looks cheesy, im not going to waste money on something that's poorly made"... a couple days later, came back, saw it again, "meh, what the heck, might as well give it a try....". now im addicted to it....and the Wing Diver reminds me of the anime Infinite Stratos.

A must buy

IGN wouldn't know a good game if it was shoved down their throats...unless it's a shooter or a series that's already so popular that if it got a low rating they know people would riot.

This is clearly the PS3 version, and you never even mentioned the performance difference between the PS3 and 360 versions; probably because you never looked into it at all. All this footage is from the PS3 version except for the couple of shots that are re-used captures from previous IGN videos of the 360 version (you can see them because of the sudden increase to thousands of HP/Armour points), and it seems every single bit was captured from Easy mode yet you mention dying - how is that even possible on Easy? And blaming it on the frame rate? This isn't a twitch shooter, you're just bad. Though, this is all the kind of incompetent indifference I expect from an unbribed IGN review. It drives me up the wall how this is going to affect popular perception of the game, as you can already see in the comments with keyboard warriors proclaiming a game they've never played to be "shit", when you barely even tried to analyse important aspects of it (such as playing on more than easy or for more than a few hours, since your Armour levels never even top 300 in the video and you're using entirely low-level gear). Stay IGNorant.

I've played this game for 200+ hours lol. It's one of my favourite games. I have played all the edf games.

Another reviewer who seems to completely miss the point of this franchise. The framerate issues were problematic at first, but I began to tolerate them when I realized that they were chiefly due to the particle effects of buildings falling. It's only been a week and I've probably spent 40+ hours on this game. For being a game where you kill giant bugs and that's it, that's pretty impressive. It's set to match my playtime for 2017.

Just announced as a Games with Gold game for September 2019. I, uh, hope they patched the framerate.

When the game says the air raider and fencer are classes for advanced players, its way more than you think. Air raider is as good by itself than it is on a team, you just have to start to get the good weapons and equip different weapons for different missions. His railgun wrecks stuff. The fencer is al about frame cancell (yeah). If you do it, hes actually faster than the wing diver, and you can use frame cancel to make some weapons have a slightly better firerate.

The game is awesome, played for 6 hours straight yesterday. Framerate issues and all, the scale this game offers is unprecedented, its amazing. Haters gonna hate.

Does anyone know if the frame rate will be fixed (improved)?Like somebody else commented, it's bad enough that it hits single digit fps sometimes, but even worse that it fluctuates so much. My gameplay experience is altered by the poor performance. I too would like to see a release on PC, but the console version as-is, is hard to get picky friends playing with you.

The frame rate is a feature. When things get so insane the slow down is rather welcome. I'm able to recollect myself during the dips so that I'm not dying of tears and laughter. I wouldn't want perfect frame rate in any EDF game. Also I find EDF to be the perfect arcade game and thus the mission design is fine. Should space invaders be penalized? Nor should EDF. This game is amazing, I just hope the classes, reload button, and everything else don't over complicate the pure simplicity of EDF. I want 2025 to be better than 2017 and so far it has a chance. It's pleased me so much already.

If they just took the mission design and story telling from Insect Armageddon and put it into 2025 it would be perfect

Sure it has some technical issues, but IMO the fun factor more than makes up for it. If you liked EDF 2017 you will love EDF 2025!

to fix most frame dips. turn off the god damn screen shake, it nearly made me sick till I turned it off and had a much more stable frame rate.

Actually the fencer isn't that slow, it has the ability to do a dash repetitively which is still faster than a ranger.

Never played any of the edf series wanted to check it out as its free on games with gold this week might check it out looks ridiculous with the amount of enemies on 1 screen.

While this game does have a few issues, the frame rate never bothered me. As many other people have said, you're not playing EDF correctly if you don't have lag. One real issue for me is that the different levels in the game don't give you much advance warning of what enemies they contain, aside from just a screen shot. There are various foes that can only be defeated by certain weapons. When you enter a level, there's nothing to let you know what enemies you'll be up against, so if you pick the wrong loadout you're pretty much already dead.

This game is tons of fun. Fun action and in co op is even better for co op missions. Flying class is the best to use and you'll have the most of fun with it. 18 bucks for 4.1 on ps4 or pc NOW GET IT

After examining dead giant insects, I've discovered something fascinating...In 7 years, the giant insects have even more powerful than ever before but do not worry, edf equipments have also grown in the past 7 years so you can definitely do it.

Hopefully on Next-Gen systems and on PC the games will run better. Part of the problem might just be poor optimization though.
