Uh no. Pixel art reached its peak with neo geo . That pixel art was done by veterans . This pixel art is done by interns and they hide everything by adding non pixel art effects and camera shakes everywhere.

It's not really "art", and it hasn't come a long way, there are just no limitations to resources for some more ordinary details or even some light effects... Otherwise it's the same shid as always.

For anyone wondering, this is the latest update I read in these comments from a user named "Elle Meine Hater" : "at the almost 50 ppl under this arguing if it’s cancelled or not: There has been an update with new screenshots in early december! The development team is working on final touches and the game has not been cancelled. They will inform the community if there is a set release date but there have been major delays due to covid since the power cut off their office and they had no chance to enter the building :)"

Yes, but I think the visuals are the really impressive part. I have other games with a similar excellent soundtrack but the pixel art here is a step further from anything I have seen before. Only hope the narrative and game mechanics to be at the same level, if that happens, probably this game will be a serious choice for indie of the year

I'm not a huge fan of the combination of Pixel-art and 3d lighting in a game, but this game's pixel art is just so damned good it gets away with it. Also, it is interesting to see an Indie game from a non-Western developer (outside of the Japanese hobbyist scene responsible for games like _Touhou Luna Nights_ ) - the devs are based in Shanghai according to their website.

The problem is, a lot of games use it as a crutch, in order to paste over - and somewhat disguise - sub-par pixel-art (particularly 2D survival horror games). That, and I'm something of a pixel-art purist, and want games to live up to the heights of the late 90s (Symphony of the Night, Metal Slug III, etc.)

Chucklefish is a Publisher, not a developer. They chose a specific type of game to publish and fix their name to. Although they are known largely for their successful publications of Starbound and Stardew Valley, they also have many bad games they have published as well.
