The Ecovacs Deebot T8 AIVI is the world's first robot vacuum + mop that uses artificial intelligence vision via it's camera to detect and avoid objects. It also features oscillating mopping and is compatible with an optional auto-empty station.

Watch the video for a full list of all the features and we'll explain how they actually apply in your own home. Plus, we have done deep-cleaning tests of the suction and mopping, so you can see how it compares to other options on the market.

The oscillating mop attachment and reusable mop pad came included with the T8 AIVI that I purchased two weeks ago along with the standard mop. The oscillating mop is much better at cleaning ( light mopping only, it doesn't remove dried stains very well) than the standard mop.

I looked at a few reviews from your youtube channel and I can say that I am impressed. You are doing a very good job. If you get the chance, test the Deebot T9AIVI, 360 S10 and Dreame L10pro. The Dreame W10 is also coming out soon, and Roborock G10, Deebot X1 Omni and Roidmi Eva are reportedly coming by the end of the year or early next year.

Thank you Roman! I imagine we will test all of those as they are released. We may look at getting the 360 S10 and Dreame L10 Pro but I don't think we'll ever do the T9 AIVI as it is unlikely to be available in most countries. Very exciting times in the robovac world!

Hi, is there any difference between the oscillating mop on the T8 and T9? It looks like the app is different too. Great review!

The app is subtly different, but overall pretty similar. The mop module is identical - although at least in Australasia they seem to be supplied with two different modules. The Ozmo and the Ozmo Pro (this is the same as the T9).

I've heard that this model only allows the user to save a maximum two floor plan maps. Is that true? I've no idea why they'd put a hard limitation on this, particularly for houses with single steps before a lot of rooms. Any chance they'll upgrade the app to facilitate more maps? And can you manually place the robot in a space with an unknown floor layout and have it clean fairly well, without a predefined map?
@timredd
@timredd 2 роки тому
Yes, once the 2 areas are mapped they can be saved on the app. You choose to save them using the button on the app map. The robot will still clean new areas not on the maps though, but when it returns to the recharge docking station, the original 2 maps that were saved will be restored.

@@timredd Thanks for the info. However, what if my third location (after 2 maps are already created) is upstairs, for example? Meaning that the Deebot can't access the area while normally roaming, due to the height of the steps making the area inaccessible. Do I need to move the entire dock upstairs in order for the Deebot to clean the new area? Or can I just take the Deebot up there, place it on the floor manually (without the dock), and have it perform an auto-clean... then once it complains about not being able to find the dock, move the Deebot back to the floor where the dock is located and tell it to go charge? The reason I ask is because I've heard that if you move the charging dock it can delete the map and may need to recreate it.
@timredd
@timredd 2 роки тому
@@snozzlehead92 You will need to move the charging dock upstairs to allow the T8+ Deebot to return to charge when cleaning is complete. It has to know where the charging dock is located, which it does when mapping, so when cleaning is complete it returns to base. The bot can operated remotely, even if away from home as long as you have an internet connection. The built-in camera can also be used remotely and the bot will patrol your home sending real-time video to your phone or tablet. But to do this the bot must know where it's charging base is located.

@@timredd Okay, cheers. And in doing so (moving the dock), it will not lose the pre-existing maps you've already created? Can you simply move the dock back to the original location after it's done cleaning and have it retain your original maps? Any idea what would happen if you had two separate docks in both locations? Say the auto-emptying dock in the original map location and the standard dock in the new location. Would that work? Or confuse it?
@timredd
@timredd 2 роки тому
@@snozzlehead92 The original two maps that are saved are retained, provided they are not deleted or overwritten by a new map. So if used upstairs, you can't save that new map. I haven't tried using two base's, so can't comment on whether it's a viable way of mapping and saving more than two mapped areas.

I just returned my Ozmo T8 plus as it was scratching my hard wood floors. I believe the front wheel is the issue and I now have faint straight and circular scratches all over my floor. How common is this?

I've heard of it online in discussions like this, but I haven't come across it myself after using this (and the T9 which is the same on the bottom) in lots of different situations.

Probably the cheapest LiDAR/vSLAM robot you can find. Xiaomi have some good options.

The T9 AIVI is only available in very few countries (and won't be released later either) so we haven't tried the T9 AIVI, only the T9+. I still prefer the TrueDetect 2.0 on the T9 over the AIVI system as it doesn't require the lights to be on and seems a little more sensitive to detecting objects as it uses lasers instead of cameras. Either option will be great though I'm sure.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. Anti drop sensors keep this unit from doing its job. You will have to reset anti drop sensors 15 to 20 times in a week. You must be supervising this unit all the time, otherwise it will not do the job as anti drop sensors needs a lot of attention. There is no DISABLE OPTION feature in the app to disable the ANTI DROP sensors, and many people have been complaining about that issue since 2019. So far, NO UPDATES on the app. Another issue, the ECOVACS Deebot T8 AIVI Robot reset maps 2 to 4 times in a month, which is a headache. STAY WAY from ECOVACS products because it’s not worth it and buy a better well know brand on the market. I think this vacuum is like a test version to find out problems where people can complain.
