I spent 35 years in the business and I remember thinking many years ago, about this type of cup cutter
@0513eclipse10 років тому
I'd like to see the results when the plug is put into an old hole. Replacing the plug back into a freshly cut hole will yield a better result than with an old hole. Also some testing in wet/dry soil conditions, and Id like to know if it consistently pulls the same plug depth across battery life. Great design though, Ive often wished for more automation after weeks of cutting cups every morning!

I need one of these in my golf bag.

Very impressive for set-up, especially on summer days. For the skeptics, it's a useful tool especially where the "Armstrong" method just doesn't cut it . . . sign me up, as I'd love to try this machine.
@nocity7511 років тому
It's very nice, i just moved 18 holes with it today, it took about 1½ hours. I can only recommend it for all golfcourses
@johnc81124 роки тому
That's amazing
@colec26537 років тому
This would make changing cups a lot slower.
@Wondamayne4056 років тому
STREETTHUNDRA 315 this would suck to use. Slower, but also looks heavier and bulkier. Carrying this and your bucket no thanks.
@scottbeaulieu81923 роки тому
Wanda you forgot along with being slow and heavy, it’s run by battery, could you imagine after 15/16 holes the damn thing dies on you and have to go back to the shop for the Armstrong cutter and then do the last couple holes after the lazy mans ecutter died on ya lol as a greenskeeper myself, I’d rather have the money from the budget invested in other areas of our job than on this useless piece of equipment.
@ToddHutchi12 років тому
There are dual bubble levels on the machine to make sure on any sort of slope you are cutting a completely straight cup. Line up both bubbles and cut, perfectly straight every time
@Zaru7t104 роки тому
We have one of these at work aswell as the old manual one. Biggest problem I have with these is that the metal deteriorate very quickly.
@randalltaylor13766 років тому
How many of these have been sold ?
@Germ199311 років тому
I do home inspections and this would be perfect for testing septic fields for leaks! How much are these ?

Thanks tons, you seem to know about this. I went to a golf course near my house, I left my resume and applied for caddying, they told me they were going to call me, I'm still waiting for the call but I'm afraid they won't call me, so If they don't, I'd like to apply for greenskeeping, but I'd like to know if I need to know anything, will they train me for free? or will I work for free for a month until I learn? can u tell me how to apply and modify my resume? thanks in advance.
@carlsaberhagen6286 років тому
They've really super-sized lawn aerators.
@unnervingfalcon12 років тому
That is pretty slick. What about pulling original cup out? That screws my back up every time. We have a couple of clay/soil mixed greens that are tough. Can also be like a suction cup, holding cup in when you try to pull it out.

heyyyy, can you tell me how can I become a greenskeeper? I'm a high school student, I don't have any college degree, do I get trained for free by the golf course? or should I work for free the first week to learn everything, like how to use those machines and mowing, etc.
@dnac8911 років тому
It takes years to learn everything on a golf course, not just 1 week. Superintendents who have been working on golf courses their entire lives are learning every day. You should try it out for a summer and see how you like it. It is a great job, but definitely not for everyone.
@Wondamayne4056 років тому
Dan F as a grounds foreman for the past 10 years under three superintendents I've never had one that new how to do hands on work. They knew everything from class. That's why the superintendent using this in the video looks so out of place .
@higlaw97 років тому
I don't think it would cut 18 new cups,sounds like it was struggling after 2.
@ToddHutchi12 років тому
There is a tool for that, it comes with it. They thought of everything. Video can be found on my page. Thanks!

Ye I know all that you've just said is right but I'd like my grass to be this short because I like the way it looks more than a regular cut

Looks interesting, but even though it seems to cut good, I can see scuff marks from your feet outside of the plate! I would be curious to know how long the battery life is! To me, it seems like it might not be worth it! It might look OK, but, some things might make a lazy worker! I like the old way better!
@RespawnDG11 років тому
ok now how to cut grass like at golf courses thats always puzzled me bc if i try n cut my grass real short it leaves big dirt spots
@Tshizzle42o6 років тому
HydrossGaming the grass used on greens tees and fairways is usually a type of poa or bentgrass. These grasses grow more horizontally than vertically. Also alot of care goes into keeping that grass green. Aeration, verticutting, lots of fertilizer and water, and time. And for some reason fungus and disease love super short fertilized grass so there are chemicals needed for that. Dont know how big your lawn is but for an average suburban lawn you are prob looking at over $2000 a year just to keep it alive. Also you need to cut with a reel mower. Those are pricey about 20000 for a new 70"wide toro rider 12000 for a 24" walk behind. and proper maintenance requires reel mower specific tools...reel grinder,bedknife grinder, lapping machine. For a home lawn 2.5-3" is perfect and wont take up all of your time and hard earned money
@bassim_77Wjets7 років тому
great for fencing posts?
@ToddHutchi7 років тому
not ever tried it for that to be honest
@jakabokbotch996 років тому
I worked for a fence company for 3 years, and I’ve worked golf maintenance for 3 years. I can tell you that a cup cutter is not near wide enough to support the weight of privacy or chain link fences. Good thought though.
@TheGolfer23112 років тому
This would have been a life saver when I threw out my back cutting cups back in the day
@dnac8911 років тому
Most home lawn grass is not suited to be cut at such a low height. And why would you want too anyways. You are putting excessive amounts of stress by cutting grass so short. Also, in order to cut low you must use a reel mower. Keep your home lawn around 2- 2 1/2 inch. You will be much better off.

@Bobba859011 років тому
Maybe you are dropping the cut height too fast. You should drop it bit by bit.
@RyanKrebs-10 років тому
just seems unnecessary if u ask me
@Tshizzle42o6 років тому
Ryan Krebs why? I work grounds crew for an 18 hole course and we send 2 guys out in the morning to cut cups and change tee marker position and it takes about 2hr. 1hr 30 is spent cutting cups. It is hard work, it kills your back, and cutting(9) 9"deep 5"round holes with a manual cutter isnt fun to do first thing in the morning. This would probably cut the time needed to cut cups in half, save greenskeepers the back pain, and make the work way more enjoyable. I wish 2 of these could make their way into the maintenance budget sometime soon
@GuessWho-uc5uq5 років тому
I agree Ryan. It also looks kind of heavy to be transporting around for 18 holes.
@golfrats5 років тому
Agreed
@Phantomfire1005 років тому
Scott Smelko because if you cut it right then it should take a quarter of the time it takes this machine to do it. I cut cups daily.
@csnsports13 роки тому
@Xtreme Performance His guys probably cut cups and dont take any shortcuts.
@ToddHutchi11 років тому
All in about $1,800.00. thanks for your interest
@dnac8911 років тому
This seems pretty unnecessary and a waste of money. I could see maybe using it on clay greens. But if your golf course has clay greens, then you have bigger issues to worry about then cup cutting. And what happens when the battery dies before you have all the holes changed? I would assume it is a rechargeable lithium ion. Just my thoughts.

sometimes you just cant beat the human touch.
@randalltaylor137610 років тому
That thing's pretty stupid - Can you not work a NORMAL one ? Looks like a device only a MANAGER would buy.
