Its written at the front of the machine, which is, by the way a HARSCO TRT909 from the mid seventies of the last century. Not modern German tech, but old American crap! Look it up, you will find HARSO and you will find, it is an American company. German tech within such tracklayers is to be found in machines with the name Plasser-Theurer. For example the SVM1000 - ukposts.info/have/v-deo/kKeagpd_pIWkxIk.html But dont kid yourself, these machines arent manufactred in Germany, but in Austrai. P&T is an Austrain company, but many of their bigger machines were built in cooperation with Deutsche Bahn, the German railways company - this way German tech is infused in these machine, but they are original Austrian! Those are called Sleepers. They're often slightly curved to absorb the stress. If it is not curved, then the sleepers would have a higher probability of breaking under stress. The stress dampening capacity will be reduced.
