But when the males bugle, the females and babies start walking.

@@alissameade-fields9615 yes they do, I went to listen to a midnight rut in the forests of northern France, our groups shuffling on the forest floor was mistaken for a group of females and babies, big came out the woods like a 🦖 t-Rex he did a quick about face!!!

I vacationed at Estes Park for a week a few years back, and I saw this same scene every day at 4:30 sharp The herd of about 70 was headed to the golf course in back of the motel I was at. The golfers had to stop and hope the elk would move on quickly but that didn't happen. What did happen was they all started laying down and grazing. Golfers took a mulligan 🤣

The elk are smart to be hunkered down in town. They know they're safe from hunters there.

I've been to estes park Colorado and witnessed the elk hanging out in town like they owned the place. The police came and taped around where the elk was so Noone could get to close to them. awsome stuff!

The ELK were actually migrating through there LONG before Those road's and house's were there! 🏡

One person out of millions who actually understands! Loaded with simpletons and only one person understands. Those houses and streets are sitting right in the middle of a migration corridor. As usual, humans ruined it. Now the elk are forced to walk on asphalt! Wow, I nevr new that... write, simpletons? (Yes, most of you are illiterate as well... 3rd grade drop-out illiterates)!

Beautiful. I like that they co-exist with the people in that town and how these animals are being respected. I was at the Grand Canyon National Park last year and I had a cabin inside the park. One morning 6 of them were right outside my cabin door. But from what I read they were not natives to the park but were transplanted from Yellowstone National Park.

That seems strange unless the government was attempting to save them from the coming Yellowstone volcano.

It is the way of life, both plant and animal, to move into available territory. The species eventually coexist, or they don't. The Homo sapiens and elk of Estes Park coexist successfully, and both species have thrived.
@sw11mslaps2 роки тому
Actually the elk are not seen as a nuisance. They are protected and they more/less run the town. They are never chased away. Cars and people wait until the elk are gone before they can move on. Ask the merchants in Estes Park how much they depend on the elk!

@mtnman65573 місяці тому
This is in the fall during the rut. They congregate in the 100's on the Estes (s-tess, not, s-tease) Park golf course to munch on the green grass, take in the sun & feel safe in their #'s. There are a # of herds down there at the same time, but usually the harem bulls let the other bulls know where the lines are, so to speak. One year, they literally did just that! While taking notes, I saw 2 big bulls line up at the far side of the course lawn/fairway & run across, each w/ a tip of their antlers scoring a line in the dirt all the way across to the other side. I was in Estes Park on the way to the RMNP entrance a # of times each fall, but I had never seen that happen before.
