I don't think they will release it as open-source. Seeing the timings of release of Grok-1, which now seems to be part of marketing strategy to get attention. After all Grok-1 was big, but no so much performant considering the small distance from local smaller and already open-source models. We will still have to wait for LLAMA 3, that will change the open-source Game completely.

Meta accidentally leaked Llama, thought "Oh shit we made a mistake", then found out that it was good business for some reason I don't understand. After that they spent mind-blowing amounts of money on hardware to train Llama 3 and is going for open source AGI. Now it's a genuine possibility that X will go toe-to-toe against Meta to be the king of open source AI. These two titans might fiercely compete for AI supremacy. I believe Meta has the compute and talent, but it will be interesting to see X at least try to beat them. I believe the best business model will be to open source models and sell cloud compute for fine-tuning and inference of these beasts. I think that is going to beat the proprietary models long term because cloud is now profitable beyond comprehension.

I just had a fascinating idea, what if instead of ai being all the knowledge cramed together in a matrix we use a sensory tool approach to allow the information to be streamed in and entangled to the different data ie. Photonic sensor like eyes connected to a photonic processor and linked to the other data to a hub and organized together. These current ai could be like too much information in so many ways that it’s hallucinating and that’s why making smaller models sometimes makes it better. Make one model out of many but not controlling many but can use the many. Like how a human is the body but we don’t control every little piece. Use a multimodal version with sensors intertwined and then wrap that in a model that doesn’t control but can feed new info and use previous info.
