Engaging the FSI Community for a Good Cause - Sarah Khalife, GitHub & Leo Junquera, Microsoft
What's possible when we tap into in all the skillset within our FSI Community? You can move a simple idea to have big positive impact for a good cause! The FSI Hackathon for Autism was a grassroot effort started by two individuals with their simple idea, and now hosting their 4th annual event engaging top financial services companies all for a good cause. The hackathon brings in partners, vendors, developers, and non-developers from top institutions in FSI community to transform autism treatment. Tackling real world use cases provided by families and creating lasting open-source projects for the community showcases how powerful and talented financial institution developers can positively impact the world within just a few days. In this session, we will share about the successes and learnings from the FSI Hackathon for Autism. With community in mind, the session will focus on how a simple idea inspired the FSI community to use technology as a tool to digitally transform and improve autism treatment, and how to leverage partners, the community, and the power of open source to build projects for community sustainability.
