According to her weibo, this video took her a whole year to make. She started planting the grass in summer 2019. In order to get the dye she need to soak the grass in water for 2 days to get the color out. Then she filter the colored water, add whitewash into it. She filter that water again and stir it. After stirring and filtering for several time, she got the blue mud we see in the video that is used for dying. To understand how much grass she used to get those blue mud. She used 30kg of grass to get 1.5 kg of dying mud. For the dying in this video she used 5 kg of dying mud. To transform the dying mud into the dye, she mix the mud with water and rice wine (the one she drink in the video). She need to keep the mixture at a warm temperature to ferment it. Fermentation took 5 days. After fermentation, she can start dying. For one clothes she used mixture of bean powder and whitewash to draw the pattern on clothes, so those part does not get dyed. For another clothes, the one with a girl on it. She used the wax to draw the pattern on clothes. That is why she have to boil that clothes after dying. She needs to get rid of the wax on it. As always, she wish everyone be careful in this difficult time. She send love to everyone.

I've watched so many, if not all, of these videos but this one really hit me hard. Everything she makes, be it clothing or food, she always makes for her grandma as well. It makes my heart ache for my late great-grandma. I wish I had the chance to turn things back and treat her with even an ounce of the respect that she treats her grandmother with. Ziqi, your videos aren't just educational and entertaining... they show so many of us a world that we've ignored. I am touch for her lov & care for her granny. That her greatest asset & my salute to her. I know it is not easy to take care an old lady especially when she is weak & slow in future. What i love about her videos are how people in the old times do things from scratch.It is very informative. Young people nowadays doesn't even know how simple cloth are produced much less by hand.

Honestly what i find most impressive about these videos is the time dedication. Some of them take a year or two to put together and she's posting them every few weeks.

She taugh us that, staying home probably not the end of the world, it is a time to reconsider our choices in life. I watched both of the videos and at first I didn’t realized what she was doing but I when I saw the process she had to go trough to make the clothes my heart pulse increased and I had goosebumps all over my body. I don’t know how to express the feelings I had then but I must say, those clothes are priceless and I think that nothing on earth can be exchanged for them.
