The actor at the start of this ep doing the distressed voice about the boys that died was incredibly talented. It sounded like real grief. Good work on his part!!

I'm too familiar with all these locations, and grew up hearing Dark as a Dungeon, and Blue Tattoo of the No 9 Coal, 16 Tons, and Harlan County, so I was already crying 5 minutes in. This means a lot.

I'm totally immersed in this story line and channel. Amazing, haunting and so well written and the narrators, actors are talented. Well done. Rukhsana in England.

i.... feel a little bad for myrtle? like her family was "drunk and violent" and she was fucked up enough to kill her own brother when she was 12 over a sucker... actually, thinking about it, when i first listened to this, i thought the boy was something like a spirit of vengeance, and i think he might be, but i think he might also be a sort of survivor's guilt. myrtle is implied to have not wanted to KILL her brother, exactly, and earl might be a jerk but neither of the two fires we really see (avalon and barlo) seem to have been directly his fault (with avalon the narrator explicitly said that people assumed it was his fault but never confirmed it, and we already know barlo was cletus's fault, if any human's), and he clearly doesn't feel good about it. i think it's even more interesting that the boy seems to mostly target individuals who were physically present during the deaths rather than the larger structures behind his tragedies. it's like... idk it feels like a good representation of the way kids view the world, and i think it's neat that a haint that's whole shtick is being boys who died too young while doing men's work talks like a man but acts like a child.

Maybe my favorite episode so far, although I’m just now catching up. Bit of a Rod Serling vibe with the topics you cover, and I mean that in the best way.

Hold on, The Boy killed 51 other men and ended up killing dozens of other boys who had nothing to do with Earl, and unleashed...those things, just to get at one guy? Seems counter-intuitive to me...But what do I know about the thought processes of a spirit of vengeance...
@thestrongestjoestar8342
@thestrongestjoestar8342 10 місяців тому
Well that's the point of vengeance. The boy is an entity formed from the agonized souls of dead children, it's main goal is to punish those who don't care for the young and thus doesn't care if they are harming others in the process. That's basically what revenge is about in media.
