Also, if someone says "I've gotta go, because I have to drive to _______.", they will be asked which route that they are planning to take and then, if that is not the best route in someone else's mind, they will then suggest an alternate route. It also occurs between people who have seniority in LA vs people who are new. In 2007 I had a friend call me via Skype from LA... I was living on another continent, but had lived in LA a number of years, and he was asking me for suggestions on which route to take to get to the meeting he was going to. It is soooooo LA/SoCal.

It’s a real thing in L.A. It’s like talking about the weather anywhere else. It’s just something to talk about. When you live and commute in L.A. and spend 2-5 hours of every day in traffic, it ends up being a big part of your life lol

@@Mandapanda. The 405 is only a regional interstate. It branches off from I-5 in centralish LA County, only to merge back like 100-150 miles later in southern Orange County. It sort of parallels I-5 and the Pacific Coast Highway (CA-1), running between them.
