We have urchins for our saltwater tank and their spines are actually very fragile, we try to avoid touching them whenever we need to have our hands/tongs in the water because they seriously fall off at some of the most simplest of brushes When their spines fall off, it means they’re dying too!

If I recall with the one that has the tiny stuff on it, that’s a collector urchin, and they have tiny claws around themselves that they can sort of disperse into a cloud of little pinchers, normally the claws aren’t too spectacular since many urchin species have them, but with collectors they can just form this swarm of claws

When I was a kid, I dunked my head to see underwater and I got so surprised seeing these, I thought they were bombs so I panicked and I got poked by those lots of times, that night I had a high fever 😅

When you go to a diving school usually they teach you: "Do not touch anything, you are a guest" Best case scenario you bother the creature, worst case either you hurt it or its venomous and stings you. Go diving and enjoy it but don't touch/break anything.
