Just because Rango is an animated movie, It doesn't mean it's for kids. I found the tone to be darker and more mature than most animated movies that Hollywood makes. This is why I love this movie. He does something different and in a great way!

It was produced by Nickelodeon and in the UK had a PG rated and, in the UK at least, was marketed towards kids. That said, this is not a kids movie. Chinatown town plot in a spaghetti western setting, I wonder what the early storyboards were like and how much had to get cut.

There is a theory that the sins are made to promote commenting about why the sin is that way. No movie is without them, but what they are can be debated. The irony isn't missed though, feels like it was on purpose.

That hawk screech is used in basically every movie for every bird of prey ever. But it's actually applicable in this movie because that hawk is a red tailed hawk, the bird that actually makes that noise irl. The real problem is when they use for shit like bald eagles which don't make noises anything like that irl.

The "Ride of the Valkyries" scene in Rango has to be one of the best animated sequences ever - from the banjo cover of the titular song to Rango swinging merrily whilst it's all going to shit behind him, and to the "planes" (bats) going down with smoke trails.

Oh come on CinemaSins, this movie deserves more than one sin off. 14:36 is a toad one-handed flipping a shotgun. Rattlesnake Jake! The owl electric guitar solo! And 'Where...where are we going?' scene. This film is a MASTERPIECE that we humans are scarcely worthy of. Although props the 22:48 outtake was freaking hilarious.

Man I remember when Cinema Sins was good. Now they just punish unique ideas and concepts in movies whilst also simultaneously pointing out the cliches. There used to be some sense of logic and comedy in their sins but now they just sin what they feel like without doing any research into what they’re sinning.

Now this brings back some memories I have a funny story about this movie. On the first day Rango was shown in my local cinema I bought tickets for the next day and fell and shattered my glasses on the way home. Because of this, I thought for a long time that the scenes with The Man with No Name and Fear and Loathing were filmed with live actors

The avian "Wilhelm scream" was actually used in the correct way this time. Metalbeak was a Red-Tailed Hawk, and the steam-whistle screech comes, indeed, from a Red-Tailed Hawk. It's just been used as a stand in for *eagles* screaming (they don't scream, they twitter and squeak - really!) That was the joke - a Red-Tailed Hawk villain making a hawk's scream. ^.^

4:57, Rango actually DOES sort of have a point. Priscilla isn't really dressed for the conditions of a dusty western town. Her clothes are the kind a fairly well off girl in an urban setting of the time would have, or, if they were in the West, would be their Sunday going to church clothes. I sort of like to think the reason in the movie she askes Rango if she can have his boots when he gets killed is because she has gotten tired of being yelled at due to her stockings continually needing to be washed and bleached (this is Wild West times, so that would be HAND washing and bleaching) since her Mary Janes aren't really designed to protect them from dirt and dust.

Rattlesnake Jake is my favorite character, he’s just so damn cool! Also, the reason he was afraid of the hawk, not the gun defend himself. It’s because of that base animalistic instinct. I have a wild theory about the shirt. A lizard changing it's color changes how it absorbs heat. Perhaps it's a shirt that can change with temperature. As for why that it is the only time it changes, I care about consistency as much as the average children's movie writer.

Well, it kind of depends. There are a lot of places in the human body where the veins are REALLY close to the surface, close enough that they CAN absorb things you drink, and several of those are in your mouth (that's why, contrary to movies, trying to suck the venom out of a snakebite is NOT a great idea, you're just as likely to get YOURSELF poisoned as well.) You MIGHT be able to get away with it, but you better hope you don't have any tiny cuts in your mouth.

Although the basic premise of the film is clearly from the "Chinatown" storyline, you also had a LOT of Depp playing as Don Knotts from his 1968 comedy classic, "The Shakiest Gun in the West". Then there is a hilariously well-done nod to "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", with Depp playing himself twice in the scene. Even with the clearly obvious flaws, it was still wonderfully animated and acted.

3:55 Assuming the hawk is supposed to be a red-tailed hawk, that _is_ where the generic bird of prey shriek sound effect comes from. So in this case, it's legit.

they didnt lie about rango dying though, in a sense he did, after rattle snake jake did him in and he left a part of him died on the other side of the road a part of him died, but when he came back he had truly become rango, and even if you dont wanna look at it like that remember there was another rango the one who killed the jenkins brothers, we can assume he died and was also by coincidence a lizard

I liked it. This told me to go back and watch it again, for I now find it highly attractive as a "deep" movie, and yet also a "shallow" movie. There is something about it that is metaphysical. Simple is never really simple. Depp is into this kind of movie. I compare it to "Dead Man." It's philosophical. No real need to conform to the Disney school of children's story (not a children's story). I think one could get an entire Ph.d. on Rango. (Somehow).

As for the “objects unrealistically small” like the Bible, it literally talks about like in the scene before how there are animals that make the small items and make Rango his sheriff uniform… but then you sin the apple and that is completely fair. That shouldn’t be possible.
