All the repair parts can be ordered quickly and cheaply from the factory in Shandong, China. They are very knowledgeable and helpful and can tell you what to anticipate as far as maintenance and even a few improvements! Thanks for a great video. That was a lot of fun and made me want to get a gun to make rugs for my grandkids and maybe try my hand at turning child’s crayon pictures into custom rugs for their room. I used to lay/repair carpet and there is a heavier pro gun that is not nearly so much fun to use. But at those shops you can find special carpet knap scissors that give perfectly level cuts when you find minor imperfections. Also, in the 70’s we used gunny sacks from the local feed store to make rug patches for professional carpet repairs. It holds up and stretches roughly the same as the jute backing on most carpets.

This was one of the best tutorials I have seen out so far.

I've had my tufting kit in the box for months and I've been daunted to start. The only thing I don't have are the sheep shearshehehehrworchestershire's so I was wondering if clippers would work as I've seen in other videos? I also don't have those either LOL but they'd be way cheaper as I'm completely new to this. anyways thank you again!!!!

Great video! I don't put my yarn on cones either. There's times I can't find the middle yarn or it gets stuck and I have to use the outside yarn. I just put the yarn in a container as I pull it. I didn't have any paper clips so I used the metal ties that came in the packaging. The rug turned out great💜. You kitty is too cute

protip...or rather, tip from personal experience. USE GLOVES AND WEAR A MASK when working with spray adhesives like gorilla and locktite. The VOCs in those can cause legit nerve damage. I have only regained partial feeling in the middle fingertip on my right hand and that was after a project I completed in may....of 2020. edit: in particular avoid any and all exposure (particularly skin and respiratory contact) to xylene compounds, trichloroethane, difluoroethane, and any resins in general. some resins will cause you to become allergic to them after only one exposure. I'm not one of those youtube commenters trying to say " YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG, AHH!" some of this is common sense and best practices stuff but this is a particularly insidious risk, because not a lot of people actually know how hazardous fixatives and spray adhesives can be.

Turns out the scissors on my tufting gun are not closing at all, my fabric isn't right and I am only using one strand of yarn in my tufting gun.. Thank you so much for this video! Ok, so the "embroidery fabric" you were looking at is called Aida, and it was created & is used specifically for cross-stitch. Hand-embroidery is traditionally done on linen (or any even-weave fabric). Traditional hooked rugs are also done on a variety of evenweave fabrics, including monk's cloth, linen, burlap, or rug warp. I assume a rug tufting gun would also work on those fabrics, typically at 12 or 13 thread count. Just don't try to use *aida* for anything but cross-stitch. It's a weird, stiff fabric!
