I'm the same age as Dan (born in 1987) and I remember when the Super Mario Bros Super Show was airing on TV and just absolutely loving it as a kid because I had grown up on Super Mario Bros for the NES (it was the first video game I ever played and it was my father who introduced me to it and taught me how to play when I was 4 or 5), but what's super strange to me is that I only remember the live-action wraparound segments at the beginning, middle, and end of the episodes! For whatever reason, I don't remember watching the cartoon itself! I just remember watching the live-action segments and thinking that _they_ were the show itself, not that they were supposed to be telling a story relating to an episode of the cartoon. It wasn't until UKposts blew up the way it did and video game-related channels began bringing up the show and discussing its significance to the history of Mario that I even learned that the show had a cartoon! Perhaps it's just me, but I think I focused more on the live-action segments because some of the shows I watched back then had live-action segments tied into the cartoon, and I ended up more focused on. The DIC dub of Sailor Moon back in the early 90s had one, or it was the channel that aired the show that came up with the live-action segments (there would be a young woman dressed as Sailor Moon and at the end of the episodes she would come on and impart some kind of life lesson to the viewers that was supposed to tie back into the episode... which is strange because the DIC dub had already done this, where they had the English VA come on at the end of the episode post-credits, and she would relay some kind of moral that, again, related to the episode, kinda like what GI Joe and Captain Planet were doing - so it'd be this weird back-to-back _"Sailor Moon Says"_ thing), and very briefly, MTV kinda did this with Beavis and Butt-head where they'd have two women dressed kinda like Beavis and Butt-head but as 1950s housewives that sat around watching TV all day, kinda talking like the characters-- even laughing like them, and they were supposed to be Beavis and Butt-head's mothers or something. (It sounds too out there to have been real, but I swear it was!)

@1:17 Mario came out in 1981. Luigi came out in '83, and Mario went "Super" in '85

The way you turn around laughing and got scared a bit by that Mario picture behind and laugh even harder makes me wanna subscribe to your channel.

Between 2010 and 2020, things were big with Nintendo World, from what I remember. So events (and even events today) were really big things. For special occasions or just specific days, in Nintendo World New York, Mario or other characters would come out and you can do a meet and greet with them. I never was able to do so, but I remember being at Nintendo World for Mario's 25 anniversary. I still have my sack bag and my Mario moustache they gave everyone before they cut the cake and had Miyamoto come out to greet everyone.
