Review Pros :
Nice quality camping set
Good value for the money considering that smaller pots made from stainless can be just as much as the entire Stanley kit.
good for backpacking, truck camping and even overlanding
Durable
Easy to clean - speaking of which, I used this over a fire and was able to clean it up with barkeepers friend
Pot is of an excellent size - big enough to make meal a for 2 people
Or Plenty of coffee
Everything nests together -
You can remove what you don’t need and leave it behind or even replace it with a stove, fuel, wash cloth, lighter, and so on.
Good handle, easy to deploy and to stow
Locking system
Lifetime warranty
Easy to clean
Review Cons :
Fairly heavy if you carry the entire kit but it can be lessened if you leave components behind
The company says that the lids can be used as a cutting board; that’s a bit of a stretch. Why not say that the bottom of a bowl is a cutting board too, it’s flat and if that is all that you need to qualify as a cutting board….
Grab tab is plastic; not so much of a con but a warning; if you plan to use this over an open fire you will need to be careful to make sure that the grab tab doesn’t melt. You can of course replace the tab with a key ring or a piece of wire if needed.
Summary : For the money Stanley continues with their excellent offerings for outdoor enthusiasts. The kit offers a lot for money and provides the user or users multiple options for both backpacking and car camping.
Do you have any experience with this kit? If so please share your thoughts and experiences; how do you use the kit? Is it too heavy for backpacking? Perfect for overlanding?

I have this set plus the "cook and eat" set which has 2 small plates, 2 sporks, silicone pot holder/trivet, cutting board and plastic lid for the skillet. I would pair both sets together to make a complete kitchen set

I have the same set (with the plates) but I think it is called the Adventure "all-in-one fry pan set". I also have the "Nesting 2 cup cook set" & "All-in-one two bowl set" from the Adventure series. I combine all three sets when needed. Great stuff at an affordable price.
@DL-ij7tf

On the topic of combining stuff with this pot - I've found that you can fit the Optimus Polaris stove and pump inside this pot, which is nice since while the Optimus Polaris is probably the best stove in terms of fuel versatility and maybe durability, it's somewhat large, somewhat heavy (and very loud). It's not that easy to find a good way to carry the stove and this pot is perfect for transporting the stove and it's components (minus the fuel sources). Obviously you'd have to forgo the bowls and such that come in the pot.

Just used this last night with my son. We had Ribeye's and candied carrots. Used the pan ladle and bowls for the carrots and then found out we forgot the plates. Cut the steaks in half and used the "cutting boards" and it worked great! Love the set...Keith D

I've used this set for the last 3 years mostly for car camping. This thing is durable. I've removed the tab on the lid and replace with a metal ring and added a 5"x2" cake pan. Makes for the perfect baking oven. I make cornbread in this thing all the time. Just add mix, throw a couple small rocks in pot to keep the cake pan off the bottom, throw the covered pot into coals and place some extra coals on the lid. 15min later, perfect cornbread.

Hi Luke, I believe Stanley looked at building a kit that would hold items that usually don't fit well together/easily such as the utensils. Most of us can stuff a spoon/fork into a cook kit, so Stanley thought, "Let's make the utensils fit since most can get their sporks to work." Keep the great reviews coming!!!

I've had this for years. It's replaced my MSR Seagull which sits in the closet now. The Stanley handle is much more sturdy and I like larger pot. When it comes to cooksets Stanley hasn't let me down.

I love this entire kit and the utensils come in handy quite often for my cooking methods. Stanley kits are amazing and probably 60% of my kitchen set (overland camping) are Stanley products. I love the single wall canteens with double lids for coffee on the road. I place two koozies on the outside and that keeps my coffee or tea warm and the two lids keep spillage to a minimum, if any. For cold drinks, I put them filled with my favorite beverage, place them in my refrigerator and they stay ice cold for hours after removing them to enjoy.

I have this cookset and works well for my purposes. Unless I'm car-camping, I only take the pot and lid with me. I leave behind the bowls, cutting boards, and spatula. Without all that stuff, you can fit a large 220g propane fuel canister and washcloth inside the pot with the lid closed.
@shadomane
@shadomane Рік тому
Thanks for the thorough review Luke. As for the tab on the pot lid, it can be removed by pushing the pin out of it and then just replace the tab with a 32mmsplit ring or a #2 S-biner. There are mods that can be done to this system to increase it's functionality, James at Waypoint Survival has some nice hacks/mods for this cook set. All in all it's not a bad system, but I do believe it can be improved upon. One unfortunate thing is that the price has currently gone up US$5.00 for the set. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience with this cook set. Your review is spot on.

Good review, Luke. I like the things I’ve seen from Stanley, their other cook set, the thermos. If they would hit my wish list, they would make a pot with a skillet lid, filled with a stove, a long handle spoon, a spice kit/oil bottle in decent carry bag, for $35.00. Heh, heh... Texas

I’ve had this kit and have used it extensively for years. I pick and choose which parts I take with me when I use it. It’s been perfect, durable, and useful. I haven’t had any issue with the tab melting, and I’ve used the cutting boards for their intended use many times with no issue. The spatula also works very well, but can be hard to clean , especially with eggs.

" Nice, well made set. A couple tips: You should slide the little cross bar on the handle towards the pot, to lock it and keep the handle arms from moving inward, like when you're folding it for storage. Get a couple Dollar Tree, flexible cutting boards, and cut to fit inside the lids, so you have the stability of the lids, but without cutting into the actual plastic. A silicone pot holder fits well into the kit ( also Dollar Tree)."

These are great kits and well worth the money. The spoon/fork comes in the all-in-one fry pan kit with the 2 plates. The small 24oz pot comes with the 2 cups. I own all 3 kits (pot w/2 bowls, small pot with 2 cups, fry pan with 2 plates) and paid about $75 in total. I really like how a person can take what they need and leave what they don't depending on each situation. I call them the perfect affordable 2 person camp cook set.

I heard once that when you clean the pot, rub bar soap all around the outside but don’t rub it off. It’s supposed to keep it from getting as dirty and it’s easier to clean afterwards. It’s worth a try!

I have several of their products. The camp cook set, which comes with a backpacking style pot and 2 small cups. This set featured in the video. The frypan cookset. And the adventure bowl + spork compact cookset. Which is kinda a modernized version of the camp cookset. I love them all. I use the pot from the 2 bowl set all the time. I don't really care for the ladle and spatula. Although they are in my camping gear tub as they are too good to throw away.

Hey Luke, I ended up tossing the bowls and ladle pretty quickly. I like having a pot that can cook for two if I need it, and inside I nest an msr stove and fuel canister with the collapsible x bowl and x mug from Sea to Summit. All of that fits with the lid closed and handle locked. I think it’s a good start aimed mostly a car or trailer camping, but can be customized for other uses. I would like to see Stanley do a more complete kit with a fry pan that nested, more like the trangia kits.

Luke👍👍 Good review. Stanley products for the most part rock, been using them in one form or another for years. No failures or problems and service life is incredible. I mixed and matched several of their cook kit products, made a canvas bag, added a few extras and have a bomb proof kit. Stainless is always a bit heavier but survives every adventure I'm on, foot or other. This set has pros and cons like all other sets, YMMV. Thanks for the video.

Would like to see kit you put together. I have several Stanley sets and have been diapointed with each. The only parts of each set that I like is always the SS pot that the rest is to support which in my opinion is near useless. Of late I have been using tin cans of various sizes to build a one person kit. Light, nesting and compact. Just need to oil the inside of cans a bit to prohibit rust.

What impresses me so much about it is the hacks that can be added. The lid can become a skillet, there is a canvas bag for it that is designed as a water pre filter, it can be turned into an oven' or a toaster, there is a mod to hang it while keeping the lid free to be removed or replaced, it can be used as a solar cook pot, lots of gear can be stowed inside it, just lots of things.

I have the same thing only with an additional larger pot nested. It is called the Stanley 2 Pot Prep and Cook set. The one in the video is a 1.58 qt pot . With mine it has that one and all the bowls nested in an additional 2.5 qt pot with lid. This allows me some versatility as I go with the bigger pot when camping with more people. As for the bowls and utensils they may come in handy depending on the menu but usually leave them home. The ladle is useful when making pasta though. I pair this up with the Stanley prep and cook set which is the 8" skillet, plates and utensils and find it handy as well

Hi Luke, I was in Menards the other day looking through the camp stuff and there stood all the Stanley stuff and I was quite impressed especially with the full set. I believe it went for $79 and it came with four plates frying pan Lids bowls all kinds of stuff I also saw that kit there I was quite impressed by all of it and the prices were not bad at all compared to a lot of other stuff. I myself am on a budget always being disabled so this means a lot to me. The stainless steel alone is a big deal oh, the cookware I have at home I use stainless steel it is the bomb. I can tell you I haven't used much Stanley camping stuff but I can tell you all the Stanley Tools that I have used building homes over the many many years has always been good. I have the Base Camp 4X pot, and it's a beast. Heavy, but has just about everything you'd want or need for four people. Plates, bowls, sporks, trivet, hot pad, "cutting board" (yeah, pretty small but functional), a skillet, spatula, and a proper stirring spoon that attaches like the ones in the 2-bowl cook set. Same kind of lid with a bungee-type cord to hold everything in place. In spite of the weight that these larger cook sets entail, they would be well worth their weight in functionality. If you were using it in a winter environment, or a bicycle/motorcycle/pull-behind small trailer/car camping situation, it would be ideal. BTW Barkeeper's Friend has been around since before I was a kid, and I've used it plenty. Great stuff, comparable to Comet (no product endorsement, just comparison). Thank you for what you do. S&H.

I have the small, medium, and large versions of the Stanley kits. By far some of the best pieces of equipment I have. Very versatile, packable, and reliable.

For the price the Stanley camp cookware line is an awesome value. I'm a trucker and I use this cookset while on the road.

I have the same kit and mostly use on my twig stove. Works great I don't use the utensils and the cutting board I use more as a small plate.

Thanks Luke! One of the kits thats been on my radar, this along with their frying pan set.

If you have this kit, you will get the same spatula in the fry pan kit. So I went with the pathfinders fry pan, since for the same price it comes with a lid.

@@mbarr1029 yeah thats the draw back. I love stanley and it being American made, but the no lid is the issue. Got to be something on the market that works as a lid

I have this kit also. I agree with you though, leave out those utensils and use the ones you want to put inside. I only use spatulas for fry pans and not pots. Have taken this kit on a few car camping trips and have only cooked over a propane stove with it, haven't used it over a fire yet. So far, so good. 👍

I actually like the spatula because I cook a 🍔 in the evening sometimes on cold backpacking trips.The ladle I can do with out. I can pour soup and even use the spatula for larger potatoes or veggies. I totally agree with you, I so wish it came with a foldable spork. But all in all I love the stainless steel and the bowl. I would rather have the lid with out the ladle hole. In other words complete coverage, it is windy and dusty in my area! Just my thoughts, for what it is worth.

Looks like a good buy to me. Especially the durability and support from Stanley.

Stanley always makes some great stuff. Not sure where i would use something like this i do more backpacking than camping but it would be great in a group camp or power outage

I agree with the fork and spoon idea. I somewhat understand the ladle although not necessarily needed, but the spatula is a stretch. It's a cook pot not a frying pan. Always love their quality and prices tend to be very good. Thanks for the review.

Picked one up at Walmart yesterday.... $25 is there everyday price, seemed like a no brainer. Big Stanley fan, great kit, may not use the utensils for this kit, but certainly spatula for my skillet and grilling and thinking I may try cutting / molding ladle into a sayte / kitchen spoon, better quality than most plastic kitchen utensils I've seen from other manufacturers and the beatings great. The "cutting boards", yeah, those are lids and only lids, but nice on buggy days, cover your food between bites!!! Another great review

I've been looking for a small pot for my RV and that I can also use on top of an open fire. This set was perfect, I replaced the plastic tab with a key ring no problems, and threw away the spatulas. I keep some steel wool, a little sponge, and a small bottle of Dr Bonners dish soap in it. Oh, and I have used the silly cutting boards. They do the job surprisingly.

I have the baby brother version, the Stanley Adventure Cup Set, I don't use it all that often as I switched to titanium mug and spirit stove, but I love my Stanley Kit. It's one of those bits of kit that just makes me smile when I see it in my gear shelf. Every stain, scratch and scorch mark is a scar from an adventure. I'll never part with it and it'll likely out live me... All that said... I don't feel the need to buy the pot set, it looks good, but I doubt I'd pick it over my titanium mugs.
