Another great tour Jarrod. The toe kick drawers are a nice touch. "whenever you have your heat running, you'll also have your tank heated as well". I have hydronic heat and hot water in my van. I'm glad I don't have to worry about constantly running the system, just so that my exterior water tank doesn't freeze in the winter. Not sure about that concept. I'm glad my water tank is inside the van.

THANK YOU! I knew I saw it years ago in a van way before this guy. I saw one of Advanced RV with hydronic heating at the Toronto RV show and they had excellent craftsmanship and used top notch products. Their team of engineers and fabricators are next level. Yes! Van culture dates back even before vans had engines with the gypsies. I love the builders show cases he does but often comes off as completely biased and often talks over the creators and makes it about himself. I think we live in a free market and most anyone has access to all the products used in this build and has all been used throughout the industry and there’s no way to be completely original so you need to give credit when credit is due when using a specific product or design not gate keeping or selling it as your own design. I think this builder has good craftsmanship and has chosen very good products but is very arrogant and ignorant and would not be someone I would deal with.

I love so much here. The only thing I’d want done differently, if possible… the control center is using up prime real estate for comfortable reaching in and sorting through for things. I’d want that stuff buried somewhere less convenient, since we hopefully won’t be in there much, and use the prime real estate for cooking supplies, or something. I know he explained why he wants the breakers there, but it seems like everything else could be away somewhere. Even the breakers… they could be accessible elsewhere in that area… a large area at that height is just sooo useful for daily stuff.

I get what you’re saying. I’m indifferent on the subject even though I’m his friend. I totally agree with you BUT I also see it from the point of view of the builder only because I see so many builders. He will be bringing this to market and wanting to sell it so if he shares all the research and development he spent a year doing then he makes zero money off that. Yes I understand there are a lot of diy people that would want to do something like that. It only takes one of the big builders to make their own and undercut him. This happens in every single industry no matter how you look at it. Regarding the fabric, that’s another “exclusive” part of what could set him apart from these other lazy builders that don’t want to do their own research to find that product. If someone is a diy person then I’m betting if you emailed him and ask to buy that fabric then he’d sell it to you. I see both sides and I hope others can see both too

I too feel that van design has excellerated rapidly and there are many great products being developed almost daily which is great to see but design and the innovation has mostly plataued at this point and it's great to see some still pushing higher - but at what cost? His products are truely top level+ and New Englanders are pretty frugal by nature and I think look more for basic, practical function and lower cost over highest tech and materials and the associated price tag. I understand that you are trying to be different in a world full of luxe vans at the peak of their popularity in this era but it really is hard to do. I would be fine with it if he made the product himself but it was another company who made it who has just as much of a right to the notoriety as him self promoting his van. Well built and executed and the R&D shows in his work and the use of high end products not dissing his craftsmanship. Was turned off my his arrogance and not the type I’d buy from. The Hydronic heating tanks and floors is not something that is original. Chuck Cassidy and Advanced RV and many people in Germany have been doing it for years. It’s silly to claim it as being the first. His van isn’t so original and him complaining about the guy making cabinets out of fancy wood to stand out is just hypocritical as him saying how original the hex pattern is. The hydronic heated outside water tank has never been done. Maybe you didn’t make it that far into the video. There are a lot of similarities from this van and many others but out of the thousands of vans people use as adventure vans there are roughly 300-400 that use hydronic radiant floor heating. Out of the many vans I’ve stepped into I’ve also never seen anyone use that fabric before. Is the style different? No, but the materials are among the other things I said. I’m not defending that person, I’m just replying to how you didn’t see anything “next level”

@@TocciTours I've seen hydronic exterior water tanks of many various forms before. If you want to show of truly next level you should travel to europe and take a look at Ladi & Margaret's van, In fact they would probably love that. search their youtube channel, they have a entire van build series. Another van to check out is Snow & Curt.. their van is super practical but has some unique features as well. The craftsmanship and look of this van is great.. but in my opinion is very plain jane.

It’s nearly the exact same van as the benchmark radiant beast. Right down to the electrical panel and light switches.

@@colinjohnson6785 lol.. I thought it looked familiar.. so this guy just basically copied that van and added some hexagons to it and is trying to pass it off as unique. I had another reply here about how un unique it is but I guess it got deleted lol. I have nothing at all against Jarrod or his van tours but, these independant van building companies need to stop charging so much for off the shelf parts that are thrown together, no real innovation, nothing custom built. This guy is trying to be cool by using different fabric and a different converter.. that no one cares about. And I still think it's a terrible layout.

Jarrod I like your content and I'm sure this guy was plenty nice in person! But this is not a 300k van. You know that. I know that. We all know that. We've seen luxury vans. No divider for the cabin. No built in cooktop (fine for custom! not for a selling), no slideout toilet, awkwardly high bed, exposed back doors, bench without cushions, poor solar (can easily get 600 watts up there). The fabric is nothing special, it's just fabric, can be found anywhere and is not expensive. The heating concepts are not new to vans despite what is claimed. In sure most of the cost is coming fun the vehicle itself and some of the functional features. It is nice looking! But it is priced poorly. We've all seen better vans for less.

I hear what you’re saying. If you look up Benchmark Vehicles you’ll see the same price point and same look. Johnson Custom Van Solutions, Outpost Vans, Earthship Customs, Outside Van, Overland Van Project, Tourig, Vanlife Customs, Momentum Vans, SoCal Customs. I just named 10 other companies that have the same price point that use the same components/materials/systems and offer same type layout. I’m starting another channel that called They Just Don’t Get It Podcast and I’m looking forward to truly educating those on understanding what van values are. The reason we don’t break down every little detail in a tour is because it would take 3 hours. Whether or not I would buy it is irrelevant but I can say I know the difference between a 150k build and 300k build

I hope I’m not coming off harsh either. I truly appreciate any feedback in the comments. I read them and it does dictate who I tour, trust me. Another good example I have, most people on my channel know I’m doing a collaboration build with Sandy Vans. Their prices are between 150k and 190k. If we were in person and I took a van like this and put a Sandy Vans next to you, then you’d understand why the 100k difference. Remember it’s not always about the aesthetics. I feel Sandy Vans aesthetics are great, and their vans are great! But the difference is heat, power, air conditioning, and exterior components like suspension etc. I hope this helps a little more
@ChoKwo
@ChoKwo 2 місяці тому
@@TocciTours Totally understand what you mean; but for 300k, it's doesnt have to be either-or, we can have sensical aesthetic decisions with high level functionality. I think that's the crux of some of the critical comments here.

Question for you. If you’re so smart in this industry then why don’t you get paid to speak at events, meet with van builders, consult with DIYers, ask to build a van couple times a week. Why don’t you get into this business? Ohhh I get it, because you watch all these videos about vans that makes you a pro right. I watch football so that must mean I know how to coach in the NFL. Btw you have the same insult over and over again just on different videos and threads so maybe try some new ones
@TocciTours

No I agree with you. I think both are essential. This look might not be for you and that’s ok. I think I was trying to say, for me, it’s more important to have systems at their best over decor
