The Ukrainians on the Kherson Front, on the most promising route near Andrejevka and Lozova, were today forced to retreat completely to Ingulec. They lost dozens of pieces of equipment, and on the entire Kherson front, surely over a hundred and who knows how many soldiers. So, considering the efforts invested, we can safely say that the Ukrainians experienced a difficult and complete debacle in that direction. Miraculously, Liman is holding, and if the weather forecast is correct, precipitation will begin in the south of Ukraine in 3 days, and around Oskol in 7 days, which will make offensive operations difficult. What is strange to me is that nothing seems to come of the announced Ukro attack below Zaporozhye, except for a couple of test attempts that went badly. It is possible that the Ukrainians really threw everything at Liman, or that the Russians interfered with their plans by calibrating that part, and it is probably a combination of both (provided that that direction remains calm). ....it is expected that due to the mobilization of the first unit, they will appear at the front in about twenty days, and that this is a realistic period in which the Ukrainians can still do something with this number of people at the front. So, the German stock market Dax is falling apart, and what is even more indicative of the state of the real German economy is that the two stock market indices MDAX and SDAX, which trade in the shares of medium-sized and smaller German companies, have lost almost 40% since the beginning of the year, which is the same decline as during the economic crisis of 2008 The real fall is yet to come. A note about the media's spin on the number of liberal pussies fleeing Russia. Up to 50,000 people pass through the Horgoš border crossing in the busiest period (weekends in July and August) and when all 6 terminals are working. 170 cars are enough for a kilometer of the column, and if there are 4 people in the car, that means 680 people per kilometer of the column. I'm watching that CNN they say 12 kilometers of columns towards Georgia. ..how many vehicles are there and how many people fit in those vehicles. If a million people leave Russia, and they get those 5.5 million from Novorussia (and they manage to keep those territories militarily), I see it as a mutual gain. Those liberal moronoids would certainly be eager to bring in a new Yeltsin, and this way they will get many times more true patriots instead! ….The situation in the Liman direction until the end of September 29, 2022 Ukrainian formations continue to surround Liman, developing an offensive towards the territorial borders of the Luhansk People's Republic. The Liman garrison is fighting in an operational environment with superior enemy forces. ▪On the outskirts of Liman ➖The enemy tried to attack the city from three directions: from the Dibro side, from the Brusino railway station and from the Old Caravan. The garrison is holding, all attacks are repulsed. ➖The Armed Forces of Ukraine are intensively shelling Liman with all available means of destruction, including HIMARS MLRS. ▪North of Liman ➖Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine occupied Kolodezi, Zelena Dolina and cut the road Svatovo - Makeyevka - Terni - Liman. ➖On the side of Kolodezi village, a platoon of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the support of armored vehicles, carried out combat reconnaissance in the direction of Zarechny (Kirovsk). After a fiery defeat by the LNR People's Militia artillery, the Ukrainian formations were forced to retreat. ➖Through Zarečnoe - Torskoe passes the last road that connects the Liman garrison with the territory controlled by the allied forces. Armed forces of Ukraine are attacking villages from the north from the side of Kolodezi village and from the south - from the bridgehead on the bank of the Seversky Donts. ▪West of Liman ➖UAF occupied Šandrigolovo and Novoselka. The western flank of Liman's defense in Drobishev is held by fighters of BARS-13 and 20 combined armies of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. At this stage, without the transfer of significant reinforcements and concentration of attention of the command of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the direction of Liman, there is a serious danger of the fall of Liman and the further collapse of the defensive order of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Forces on the western borders of the Luhansk People's Republic.

My unit experimented with 'light strike' decades ago, long before ATVs and Technicals were on the scene. The off-road training - crossing disused railway cutting and embankments, riding through deeply rutted mud, and trying to leap ditches was hilarious. The exercise enemy heard our ancient BSA motorcycles coming from miles away, but we realised that didn't matter - we decided that if the tactic was ever used in anger, a real 'enemy' would have died laughing at us before we ever got in range. So - it turns out that somebody at a higher level had their eyes on a bigger picture.
@mortenovergaard7397
@mortenovergaard7397 Рік тому
interesting.. would you say based on your experience that the tactic overall is useless? and what if we're talking about the ukraine war where the country is the size of texas, and small units in theory could drive many miles out of enemy sight and hearing, and still get around them and to their back? ..
@lindsayheyes925
@lindsayheyes925 Рік тому
@@mortenovergaard7397 It is not useless, especially if the enemy's front is etiolated. It was experimental in my time, so the equipment had not been developed at all. For example, light drones for unmanned recce did not exist, nor Technicals, and night vision equipment was very poor. However, something like it had been done by the SAS in Italy in WWII, where it was effective. The SAS were also able to penetrate the FEBA at many points during Desert Storm for sustained ops behind enemy lines, but that was more for LRRP and target attack than as part of a combined arms operation. Nothing upsets C2 as much as an attack from an unexpected direction. Imagine that you have all-round defence, with carefully set arcs of fire - and then you are attacked from within your perimeter. Do you - can you - fire outside your arcs, towards the middle of your own formation? Commanders become confused and indecisive, demand constant reports from soldiers in contact, and nobody knows who is enemy or friendly. It is worse for Officers i/c than Shock of Capture. IMO, the biggest problem in using these tactics would be to overcome the "big push" mindset of the General Staff, which could easily fall into disastrous misuse of these small units as infantry. The units need a very high degree of autonomy to act on initiative - and that requires a lot of training and very careful selection of individuals. A standing ("professional") army is unlikely to have enough people of the calibre needed, and would need a lot of trained reservists, which can also go against the grain within an army. Hats off to Ukraine, eh?

@MikeBenko
@MikeBenko Рік тому
Humvees are actual trash. They were never intended for frontline combat roles, despite being used in such a role. They are really not good at it. Even the most heavily armored Humvee can and will be trashed by the 12.7mm machine guns that are commonly available to the Russians (not to mention the 30mm auto cannons on BMPs). They are also very vulnerable to mines, rpgs etc. The armored spearhead of the Ukrainian attack relied on a small force of T72's (mostly seemed to have been modernized Polish T72M1 variants) and Australian Bushmasters. The Bushmasters are the types of vehicles Ukraine needs. They are fast, wheeled, more heavily armored and more heavily gunned infantry fighting vehicles. Depending on the variant the Bushmasters can be about as cheap as a couple of Humvees, but they are actually built to do the things the Humvee can't. There are similar vehicles from other NATO countries they could be supplied with, tho probably Bushmasters, Iveco LMVs and American Oshkosh variants are the easiest to supply as they are in continuous production.
@DanTube2010
@DanTube2010 Рік тому
@@MikeBenko For sure Humvees are pretty much obsolete. First produced in 1985 and so would be considered 1970s technology/design. The JLTV that replaces them is 3x the weight which gives a good indication of how much more protection the modern vehicle provides.

I think it depends on where Russia gets pushed back 1st from the 3 Ukraine pushes. Kherson - without the city, Russian local commanders and troops ignore high command and retreat on their own accord, other areas follow. Middle - Russian forces to the north retreat to Kherson on their own accord to avoid being cut off. North - Continuation of the current slow progress. I don't think there is a date that can be set.

Just one critique about this report. I highly doubt Ukraine is purposely opting to use civilian vehicles as this report implies.
