Playing your sisters games is often a reason you got into a series. I remember for the holidays one year I got Jak 3 and my sister got Kingdom Hearts. I remember one day being bored I just booted up Kingdom Hearts and really loving the game. Years later I've played most of the games. Same for Pokemon.

I could be wrong, but I came up with that number by: 1959 (year of Barbie's creation) + 100 years (a creation lifespan) + 70 (the posthumous duration that U.S. copyright holds for). But, if we're going by Ms. Handler's lifespan (somewhat unlikely), it could be sooner than 2129. Did I ruin the joke?

@@QJ89 That doesnt seem right, steamboat willie came out in 1928 and its now public domain so unless barbie's ip is diferent because it came out 20 years after i dont see this adding up. I also dont know the law so maybe im wrong too

​@@QJ89the rule for copyright held by individuals is life + 70 or something (I think that's Berne convention, but individual countries can be longer?), but it's just flat 95 years for when it's held by corporations.

Of course, that's just copyright, Barbie is obviously trademarked up the wazoo too, and that can go forever.!

I think we should normalize men and boys enjoying media that isn’t just edgy, angsty, or violent. Growing up is realizing how many guys actually enjoy cute stuff but never say it out loud. Girls and women can enjoy cute stuff and are praised when they enjoy “guy stuff” too but we don’t give men the same grace. It’s weird how that goes.

Pretty sure I can guess without watching, 50% sexism and 50% not understanding that they just want to play good games like anyone else, they don't need to be 'aimed' at. Girls liked Tomb Raider just as much as boys did. Without sexist social conditioning there wouldn't be any 'girls' or 'boys' anything, we're all just brains in a biomechanical suit that happen to have something different between the legs, there is zero biological basis for interests being aligned to gender, the obvious example being the colour pink, which for hundreds of years was considered masculine, in fact when baby clothing was first coloured and not just white, it was pink for boys and blue for girls, but marketing swapped it at some point and here we are a hundred years later
