We’re officially in Alaska and back to finding local attractions and things to do in Fairbanks…excluding fireworks as it doesn’t get dark enough. With Fourth of July being Tricia’s favorite holiday, it prompted a conversation on where we might be next year and we have some ideas!
Let’s just say there is a large KYD Community there and it DOES get dark enough!
In this episode, we visit KYD Insider couple Mitch & Melody to install our Rock Tamers mud flaps, visit the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, tour the Fountain Antique Auto Museum (my kind of museum) and rode the Riverboat Discovery.

We visited Alaska many years ago, and marveled at its beauty from the balcony of our cruise ship. One day soon, we hope to experience it from the road. We've been so inspired by your family's courage to challenge the status quo and live out your dreams on your terms. We've always felt like there was so much more to life than just building wealth and acquiring more stuff, but that's the trap we have found ourselves in, so we're making some big changes. You're building such a beautiful legacy for your family, and there's a community of people who are cheering you on, and finding permission to live their own dreams. Thank you for your tips, your humor and for sharing your adventures with us. We truly appreciate you!

My husband and I just spent a month in Alaska from mid May to mid June. Absolutely loved it and we did close to your route (we started in Anchorage). In Seward we stayed at Waterfront Park; in Kenai stayed at Beluga Lookout; in Homer it was Heritage RV Park. When in Valdez make sure you go to Peter Pan Seaford Market - good prices for the seafood and make it yourself - better than the restaurants! There is SO much to see and do! Would do it again in a heartbeat! I could go on and on with places to see and things to do!

Keep Your Daydream , if you have time visit Exit Glacier. If you have a lot of time hike up to Harding Icefield. Sea kayaking is a lot of fun too. The whale sightings in the bay have slowed down, but there are a few here. Kayakers were up close and personal with a couple of humpbacks by Fox Island a few days ago. Seward Ocean Excursions is the best guy to go out with. Small boat, local, and just a great guy. If you enjoy hiking, Lost Lake, Mt. Marathon (Jeep trail access), and Mt. Alice are a few favorites. If you want to snag for Salmon from the shore, we (my husband) would be glad to show you where and how 😊. Safe travels.
@KeepYourDaydream
@KeepYourDaydream 5 років тому
Great info. I'm interested in running Mt. Marathon, but I heard the trail can be hard to follow at times. We snag'd some salmon at Wolverine Creek and the boys rods are rig'd for catching salmon from shore. If you're IG, dm us with info in Seward. We're all ears.
@amandaw3141
@amandaw3141 5 років тому
Keep your eyes and ears alert if hiking around the trail and glacier in Seward (the exit glacier) when I took my mom to Seward we decided to go check it out. We were walking up the paved pathway and a few people were walking back down. They said there was a few bears and Cubs up the way so we aired on the side of caution and turned around. The Columbia glacier in Valdez is awesome. We rented a helicopter and flew over it and then landed on it.
@happyhorsman6398

When hiking anywhere in Alaska always bring bear spray. It just goes with the territory....even in our own yard. Fortunately, they are far more interested in the salmon.
