First time a tv show made me nostalgic for a game world. It was like I had lived in that place before and now it’s a series on my tv !!!

The way the ghoul fought in filly almost seemed like he was using VATS. With the way time slowed down and he was spot on with all his shots. I also think he didn't think maximus was much of a threat so he opted to see what he would do rather than kill him. He out right told him during their fight that he should read the instruction manual more cause he didn't know how to use the power armor.

The Goul literally holds up a different ammo type when fighting the Brotherhood. It's literally explained. It's the difference between improvisation (Maximus fight) and preparation (this fight)

Going Feral has always been a risk to sane ghouls(its part of why they're hated/feared), usually in years or decades, thats why Cooper is THE Ghoul, he's one of, if not THE oldest non-feral. 😁

I think the Ghoul mentioned that Titus's power armor had been reinforced, so I don't think the Ghoul forgot the armor had a weakness but just that Titus had removed that weakness in the armor by having it reinforced.

What i love that Fallout did that others do not is its not a adaptation, its it own unique story within the universe. I love i could watch it then go my own unique story in the games, i hate when its like Last of Us where its the same story just told slightly different where i could just go play the game. Last of Us was great but id rather play the game and Halo shouldnt have been about Chief if they want to show his face all the time and kept him as a cool here and there appearance, this show expands on the universe and excites me and this is an amazing addition to the Fallout universe

The first fight with the ghoul and Max, I think he didn't have armor piercing rounds. You'll notice when he is pointing out the weakness he was looking at a sabo round which is designed to pierce armor. He mentioned the issue in the power armor was with a weld that might be good enough to hold up to standard rounds but armor piercing would just cut through it like butter...

I think Lucy knew Maximus was just unconscious, but she felt she had to chose between staying there and waiting for the brotherhood, or going with The Ghoul and hopefully finding her dad. And The Ghoul wasn't going to stick around with the Brotherhood at the door. Id assume she just thought "Well his own people will look after him'. But yeah, what Maximus will make of all this we will have to wait and see.

Cooper did do something to Titus'/Maximus' armor. And another comment said he mentioned it having been reinforced. I'll have to rewatch. Not that I need much excuse to. Such a good show.

The Yao Guai vs. Titus fight that is shown around the 10 - 13 minute mark... The short clip that this video shows off really makes the bear seem like a man in a bear suit. VATS was actually hinted at with the special effects during the big fight in Philly with The Ghoul. The slow-motion portion of the bullet fire actually has the feel of a VATS shot a pointed out by a few other videos. Something that made absolutely no sense to me happened in Episode 6 or 7, whichever one has the dog featured in the video's thumbnail. Cooper / The Ghoul finds CX404 in the dumpster that Thaddeus placed him in at the end of the previous episode, he suddenly calls him "Dogmeat." Speaking of the dog, what happened to him after that? If memory serves he doesn't even appear for the rest of the season.

The weakness the ghoul exploited in the power armour was a defect in the welding to that specific model. Not all power armour had that weakness.

They kinda teased the background of how Moldaver survived for 200 years. The outro included a billboard with cryo suites hotel and she had the money for it. So it would have been possible tech-wise.

I think it makes more since if Vault Tec kicked off the end of the world. It shows that corporations have no remorse for making a quick buck and living to tell about it. Which makes sense in the Fallout universe.

They can't do a big anthology show that's all over the US as because the show is considered canon, they don't want them touching places they might use for games in the future. Plus they need to squeeze all the events in between now and Fallout 5 (which is likely a ways off as TeS 6 is still in the oven). I mean, I don't know for certain that is the reason but given how protective they are of that stuff, it seems reasonable.

Sentient ghouls can turn feral. Its not necessarily an inevitability, but a risk to all ghouls. The misconception most people have is that it can happen suddenly, when it is more a slow deterioration. Thhe one Ghoul said Cooper had been showing signs of going feral the longest.

I took the early fight as him being in chem withdrawal and just pulled from the coffin vs. the 2nd fight was that he was full chem'd up and having regained some sanity thought process after the grocery stop

The arrow in the timeline points forward, Bomb happened after 2277 and Tood Haward officially confirmed it happens after New Vegas.

The Goul not saying anything about the armor out loud early on is perfectly reasonable. They knew no one there to bother to tell that to. Unnecessary exposition is unnecessary. That said now i gotta rewatch the series to see if there was any indication of some difficulty or sympathetic reticence in taking the shot.

Was it the same power armour in both scenes mentioned? The ghoul was talking about the armour he used in Anchorage and how the BoS guy in last episode has a new model w/ the same weakness. But there are lots of different versions and types so not a complete given it was the same as Maximus', although easy to assume it is.

Well, Moldaver did create Cold Fusion...I wouldn't be at all surprised if she made her own cryo chamber or somehow hijacked one of Vault-Tec's. The fact some NCR survivors worship the flame mother may be related to the fact she's from Pre-war times and seems young and not a ghoul... so they may have decided it was some kind of miracle.

I've got a theory on the reason Coup didn't kill Maximus in the armor. When Coup was fighting him, he commented on how unskilled and clumsy Maximus was in the power suit. He also saw that he was just trying to protect people, not just being a typical BOS jerk face. I think Coup didn't kill him because he didn't want to. Coup saw him as nonthreatening and well-intentioned

To be fair, in Philly when they are fighting maximus doesnt have a gun and the ghoul seems pretty confident about his chances. When theyre in shady sands, theyre all armed so may have been a reason. Also, i feel like he said something about being able to tell maximus was "green" in the armor. Could be misremembering on that though. Also, Maximus had main protag plot armor.

Vault 32 started killing eachother because of the famine im pretty sure, and then after most of them were dead they found out what they were there for and offed themselves. Titus had reinforced power armor, they mention it at one point. Oh and the end credits shows “cryo suites” in the tops casino.

'A Boy and His Dog' is a stated inspiration of the Fallout games for both Interplay and Bethesda. I found this series really overtly similar in tone. An interesting closing of a circle.

Some ghouls won't go feral, but the lore on them has been inconsistent since Bethesda took over the IP. When The Ghoul fights Maximus in Filly, look at his reaction. He's having fun and enjoying the fight. Later on when he deals with the BoS and exploits the weakness of the power armor, he's not there for fun. If the timeline had said 2277: Shady Sands declines instead, there would be no problem. Shady Sands was nuked after the events of Fallout: New Vegas.

Also, they fully see what the vault 32 dwellers wrote on the walls in the vault. They clearly knew what was in 31 which caused a civil war. Also pretty sure Moldavia is from 31 as well, since she knew rose well and had knowledge of how all three vaults worked

Shady sands wasn't bombed in 2277. Look at the timeline again, ncr fell in 2277 -> the bomb was dropped after. The date wasn't specified

Important to note that the 2277 day and the shady sands getting bombed aren't the same date.

I'm a jaded gamer in my late 30s. I had zero expectation for this show and it turned out to be my favourite show of the year. As close to perfect as possible. It actually gets the setting and themes of the universe better than several of the official games. I can't wait for season two.

I think we're going to get the Death Claws next season. Some unimportant character will be absolutely eviscerated by one one of the main characters will fight one and just barely survive so we can see how tough they are and that's about it. I think I'm more excited for is the Super Mutants. They're just so many more ways you can go with them. And I hope they explore that beyond tough looking creature that can speak.

I have a lore question for people in the comments (spoiler alert for the series in case that is needed) I found myself a bit bothered by an element of the show that I havent heard anyone else complain about, and I'm curious if anyone else agrees or disagrees. I found the major "twist" of the series, being that Vault-Tech in conjunction with various other powerful corporations like Rob-Co, at least planned to dictate the terms of the nuclear apocalypse themselves so that they could destroy their competition and rule over whatever is left after the fallout clears. Whether or not it was them who eventually dropped them bomb, or global super-powers did it on their own, I assume we will find out later. I don't believe this was ever even hinted at in the game lore (someone please correct me if im wrong). I'm not opposed to expanding lore, but I find this to be kind of ridiculous, even for this exaggerated fictional world. The idea that insanely rich and powerful people, who are bathed in luxury and comfort, would subject themselves to hundreds of years cramped in an underground vault, with the end goal being the ability to rule over a literal wasteland where all luxury and comfort has been destroyed. The way I always interpreted Vault-Tech in the games (and again please correct me if I'm wrong) was as a company that played on the publics FEAR of nuclear apocalypse to amass money and power, which they intended to use to shape America as the dominant global super-power. The idea (i thought) was to perpetually have the world teetering on the edge of annihilation, naively thinking it would never fall off the cliff. To me, this was a key element to the tragically comical vault scenarios in the games. It was the idea that Vault-Tech was running these cruel and bizarre social experiments from the comfort of their positions of power in America, but that with the end of civilization (including Vault-Tech) these experiments lost all purpose and meaning, and after decades past, became long pointless slogs into insanity, essentially madness screaming into the void. To ME, personally, that is a much more impactful sentiment than a corporation who wants to rule over an irradiated wasteland in a few hundred years. I'm curious if anyone agrees.... or if anyone was even patient enough to read all this lol. Let me know.

Great chat ya'all. I loved this show waaay more than I was expecting. It was so fun it's rewatchable. Not perfect though. I wanted to know how Moldaver survived so long and also seemed out of character for her to keep Lucy's mom alive so long. I know we didn't get a huge amount of characterization for Moldaver but it seemed like Lucy's mom was her friend. Why keep her in such a state? Seems weird.

I don't know if I would call it an adaptation... Generally, when you are adapting a video game or a book you are taking an existing story and adapting it for television or movie. This story is completely original, but ties in to the video games. For instance, anyone who watches The last of Us, who has played the game, knows exactly where the store is going to go and how it's going to end.. but nothing in the fallout franchise ties in directly to the story other than a few lore drops and set pieces. I would say it's closer to a spin-off.
