I used to call Haaland the "anti-VanDijk", in terms of that he does what VVD does in being too strong and too quick, making opponents look like children, so I was fascinated when he was matched up against him. I think Haaland scored once when he attacked his defensive partner for Holland on the other side, not exactly VVD's fault, and overall VVD made Haaland look mediocre in terms of strength and pace. He remains the king of physicality in football.

Tbf, Dzeko is way past his prime and has almost no acceleration left. The Martinez one was better imo. Martinez didn't want to 1v1 Van Dijk at all because he knew he had no chance!

You switched from a stirker to defender because you probably were not that good as a striker. No top level natural striker purposely switches to defence because he wants to.

@@qnonbs or you just find it way more fun to control the space and take the ball instead of having to jostle it around in the hopes of not losing it. I basically was the fastest person on the field as a kid, but opted to become a defender as I feel way more at home at the back. Our defence was complete garbage (I was the goalie for a while as I was the tallest on the team. A bad defence is so infuriating) so I felt the need to give the new goalie a better time by demanding a defender role. Ive come to love it more than scoring goals. There is just some magic that you dont get as an attacker.
