NUCLEAR!! Output TIN CAN Waste Oil burner
Really Simple Tin Can Waste Oil burner can be made in seconds.
This is a great test bed for learning about waste oil burners and heaters.
Simply made from a sweet tin, a car brake disk and some flue this burner can get red hot in seconds and burn waste oil. Burning waste oil is dangerous so be careful if you are going to give this a try. I show exactly how it is made in the video.
Any one could make this Fantastic Output TIN CAN Waste Oil burner
Cheers Gerry

I love how you use the heat escaping the pipe to draw the fresh air in. Many others have to or choose to use a fan or forced air of some type and then adjust the fuel to meet that air. Your fires are automatic in a sense and perfect.

Belting idea Highly impressed with the amount of heat produced and not a lot of oil . I’ve dabbled with sawdust stove but found them to smokey but this one I’m all over 😀
@rronmar
@rronmar 6 років тому
This is a great learning example. To burn cleanly you need to match the vaporizer surface area to the airflow. The sputtering like a pulse jet says not enough airflow, with a tin that large as a gas generator, it needs a lot more air. That is also why you are getting flame and smoke out of the flue making way more gas than you have O2 to burn. A conical oil pan allows you to tune the oil vaporization surface to the airflow by simply varying the oil level in the pan. Designing it so the inlet air passes thru a pre-heater also makes it WAY more efficient and less susceptible to wind. Thanks for the video:)
@timtelemark907
@timtelemark907 6 років тому
Rronmar, very interesting comments. How small could the burner be if it had a flue pipe of only 40mm diameter? Or what diameter conical oil pan would you use for a stove with a 40mm flue?
@rronmar
@rronmar 6 років тому
Tim Telemark not sure for a 40mm, quite a few variables how tall is the flue, what fuel ect. I have been experimenting with a 3”/75mm flue(54” tall) and a 3” burner with a little over 1’ center airfeed pipe. 3” diameter area is about 7 sq/in minus the center leaves about 6sq/in of fuel area. With that much draft and motor oil it is way too much gas generated and it flares and sputters like this vid. Going to build another one with a 1 3/4” center air pipe( just under 4 sq/in fuel area) and see how that balances out. Also have an idea to simply regulate airflow to help tune it, but it is a fine balance also between air volume and velocity/turbulence. More air holes = more air volume but also = lower velocity and less turbulence which helps combustion efficiency and overall temp.

The sides are about 3 inches high. The propane bottle stands about 4 inches above the edges of the top of the pan. The holes are 13mm and spaced at about 1 inch apart start the first row 2 inches from the base of the pan so your oil can stay in the pan. Hope this helps. Cheers Gerry

Classic comedy, love it brother keep up the great work..and don't fret much about professionalism on vids, honestly having followed for years most of us Gerry followers know the hardworking, smart engineer with a propensity for pyromania! You be you; it's the other 80% of what makes the videos so damn good. Simple lines like, you see what I see, get used over here by me now on the regular. Stay classy bud

Hi Roy. These things are impressive in the amount of heat they can produce. Making a very temporary setup on camera can have awkward moments 😜 Thanks for commenting Much appreciated Cheers Gerry 👍👍
