1) Fell in love with these curtains at first sight. I saw the idea in a cafe and made it for myself from leftover fabric.
For my work I used white cambric, colored satin and lace. My window is 70 centimeters wide, the curtain will be 1.15 m.
- I cut out a strip with roses, 15 cm wide, and stitched it to the white fabric. I overcast the edges and put a finishing stitch on the front side.
- I made narrow decorative tucks along the entire length of the product. To do this, I ironed the fabric and sewed 3 lines 1 mm from the edge.
- There is lace along the bottom.
- Hemmed the edges.
- The curtain will be placed on a wooden strip. To do this, I made a drawstring for it on top.
- Attaching such a bar to a plastic window is very simple. You need to take self-adhesive Velcro hooks and attach them to the frame. This design looks very neat, and you can peel it off at any time.
- We got small tabs and romantic gathers at the top. Also suitable for attaching rings with “crocodiles”, hooks, small eyelets, you can make a model with ties.
- I tried starch spray for the first time. I bought it in Lenta for 99 rubles. You spray it on the fabric and iron it.
After treatment, the fabric became smooth, silky, slightly starchy and smells good. I really liked it.
2) I took out an old tulle from the mezzanine and made a cute curtain out of it. An excellent solution for small windows.
Stages of work:
- I cut out 7 strips, measuring 14x23 cm for loops. I stitched, turned, stitched.
- I folded them in half and sewed them to the top. These loops will fit onto the cornice.
3) I cut out a strip of tulle, 8 cm wide for ruffles. The ratio of the length of the ruffle to the sewn part should be 1.5:1.
- I hemmed one side and gathered the other into an assembly. To do this, I laid two parallel lines and sewed it to colored fabric. This is the first part of the curtain.
- Now I’ve stitched tulle to it. I hemmed the sides.
- All lines must be smoothed.
- There is drapery at the bottom. At a distance of 50 cm from the bottom of the curtain, I made a drawstring and inserted a thin stick there. Then I removed this stick, it’s better without it.
In two places I sewed ribbons that tie into bows and hold the waves of the fabric. You can “play” with the drapery and make it larger or smaller.
If your curtains look boring, you can always change them and add new elements.
An excellent solution for small windows.
3) I don’t buy ready-made curtains. I’ll prove that it’s easier to sew yourself than many people think: I’ll share the important rules.
Inserting eyelets is not as difficult a task as it might seem at first glance. Any housewife can handle this if she has the desire. In my master class I will show you a simple way to sew curtains with eyelets with your own hands
How to do it?
1) There should be a hard edge where the eyelets are attached. To do this, you need to tuck the fabric and smooth the thick interlining or special eyelet tape. I bought this ribbon 10 cm wide.
2) After this, make a line.
3) Distribute how many eyelets there will be on one curtain. With a fabric width of 1.5 m, 8 pieces are enough. Measure how far apart the rings will be.
4) Now take the ring, put it in its place, circle it inside with a pencil. Use small scissors to cut out this circle. Cut half a millimeter beyond the pencil.
5) Place an even ring under the curtain and use scissors to press the edges of the fabric into the groove on the ring. Place the other ring on top and press down with your hand until it clicks. All! This takes one or two minutes. Once you practice with the first ring, the rest go like clockwork.
