It was purely a footballing decision, I think we sometimes forget that most foreign players don't support Liverpool, Torres himself is an life long Atletico Madrid supporter. He won the Champions League with Chelsea so I can't really blame him for leaving, we didn't win anything while he was at Anfield and we never would have with Gillet and Hicks owning the club. Right player but probably wrong time springs to mind. I think we might have convinced him to stay if they'd showed him who we were buying from Ajax to play up front with him - Luis Suarez.
