It’s time for an absolutely epic hypercar showdown! We’ve got the Ferrari SF90 going up against the all-new Rimac Nevera!
So, let’s take a look at how these two hypercars compare to each other. Starting with the Ferrari, it’s powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 along with some electric motors. Combined, the engine and motors can produce 1,000hp and 800Nm! It also weighs in at 1,770kg, and you can pick one up for around £376,000.
But trust us, that’s NOTHING compared to the Nevera! It’s an all electric hypercar powered by 4 electric motors, which combine to produce 1,914hp and an absolutely ridiculous 2,360Nm of torque!! It weighs in at 2,150kg, and as for the price, it’s a bit more than the SF90… Costing £2,000,000!!

I think what helped the Ferrari at first is the instant torque from its electric motors, but the Rimac being fully electric doesn’t take long to overpass.

@Nic Sauter nevera still has a better power to weight ratio. Also the faster a car is traveling, the less weight it has. One more thing to remember is once the Ferrari reaches 210 Km/h the front axle motors turn off so it’s not quite 1000 hp all the time

@Nic Sauter The weight difference really struck me too, but not during the drag races. Those are just mainly down to power and they weren't all that surprising. However, nobody seems to be talking about the brake-test and that's what really stood out to me as totally insane. About 400kg heavier, yet still about the same stopping distance? I'd like to know about the tyre difference...

@@19NJS71 I actually think it's still far... Even hyper EV cars weight more than 2 tons to be even able to achieve this amount of horsepower, but this will only be good in a straight line... The 2.3 tons of the rimac wont help when trying to achieve lap time records. Even the Ferrari with 1/10th of the price of the rimac would probably win a track race

Um, there were basically zero steering inputs and just plain releasing the break with foot pushing full throttle. Had notta to do with the driver and more to do with the reduction in weight from Matt to their test driver, the CEO often times, who weighs far more. That little bit makes that .05 to .1 difference they had from their best.

With some good pads and better discs and the difference to standard braking performance is HUGE, especially with better tires. I was racing a GT3 recently and every time we hit the brakes he'd go flying passed me. He couldnt believe an old car could out brake his 2020 Porsche

What’s surprising to me is that the Rimac isn’t actually “that” much heavier. Being a pure EV on that level of performance i’d assumed it was more than those 380ish Kilos. Matt and Rimac really managed something astonishing with that car, Record setting stats across the board, that combined, where previously thought to be impossible. But the Boss himself is out there proving that they didn’t settle for any compromises. What a time to be alive, right? (As if i’d ever even sit in one..)

Mate designed and built a bespoke rocket ship not using parts from other cars. It is a technical marvel with subassemblies we will never see finished and made beautiful because he understands that a great car is a rolling sculpture. Having said this there is talk of other ICE cars closing the gap should the race be lengthened to a mile or so. I could be confusing this with a comment about a Tesla Plaid as I think the Nevera motors up to a significant top speed. Thanks for making the video- it is always fun to watch Matt Watson set a world record even if they have to come back to do it officially…

@@Gellis12 hood the heck did they only beat Matt’s time by 0.04 seconds on a prepped track??? Do you know how much difference a prepped track gives you? It’s an INSANE advantage. The only thing that I can think of is that they designed the Rimac around accomplishing the fastest 0-60 time on an *unprepped* road, so therefor it cannot take much advantage of the prepped track. I am 100% positive if the engineers were to change the available torque at launch to meet the maximum allowable torque that a prepped track can give you then the car would absolutely go way faster. I just cannot overstate how much of a benefit a prepped track gives you. That is surely the case for what’s happening here.

@@sammybaraka5362 no dummy. It has nothing to do with what a company CAN DO. Any major company could make a car that obliterates the Rimac. Small tuning shops can modify a GTR that does 7 seconds in the quarter mile. Rimac is making a 2 million dollar hypercar, Ferrari isn’t competing with them. It has 2x the horsepower. That’s like Ferrari being proud it’s faster than a BMW M3 lmaoo. Besides, no one has tested the Rimac around a circuit. That’s where you see balance and the strength of the chassis, along with aerodynamics and mechanical grip. Ferrari would most likely obliterate this thing on a circuit-Rimac was made to go fast in a straight line. This video was essentially a paid promotion by Rimac. Even their CEO was there, LMAO.

If your argument was in support of a 992 Turbo S then I would be agreeing with you - however Ferrari pretty much coined the phrase of Hypercar with the Enzo and then La La...etc. Other people are successfully in the mix now and that's just fine. Rimacs and Koenig's cost more as they are very small companies - not owned by Fiat. By the same token the results of their development are even more admirable.

Great test and great surprise . With the RIMAC you run in the fastest time ever done on 1/4 mile . 8.62 sec unbelievible . The fastest cars on the 1/4 mile are the PORSCHE 911 Turbo S and the SF 90 . 10sec for the Porsche and a little bit less for the FERRARI. The RIMAC is a great event in the world of sports cars. Awesome MAT, you get a fabulous record that will not be beaten soon. Nevertheless, if i could i would bought a V8 or a V12 FERRARI. I cannot forget all the FERRARI History.
