With Halloween fast approaching, we're about to experience one of Fall's spookiest trends - the Halloween Horror cash grab, as movie studies rush to make cheap scary movie sequels. Next up? Ouija. Fun fact: The second rule isn't as dumb as you think it is, supposedly if you contact someone through the board you have to say goodbye before stopping to basically "close the portal" so unwanted spirits can't get through after you're done! (This isn't from the movie I think, idk I haven't watched it, but it's for if you wanna ever contact spirits in real life, I'm not too into it but my mother is)

Yup, I heard time and time again that when you're trying to contact random spirits you're not sure who they are or where they came from, you have to say goodbye or some variation of this to make sure they don't stay or try to possess you or something.

To be honest, Jumanji wasnt just a simple board/video game. It had parts that made it stand out. It wasn't some boring board game like Ouija (the movies) It looks really cool and unique. AND they get to actually experience the stages that make it different. It wasn't all good but, it's better than this tbh.

Official Ouija boards are made by Hasbro. So unless you're trying to argue that the company that makes My Little Pony has some arcane magic powers that only occur in this one game, I'm skeptical.

You did watch Ouija: Origin of Evil right? The mom was the one who tried to contact her dead husband, by using the board alone. Of course, using the board alone, Doris got possessed by, not a demon, but a Polish guy named Marcus that was tortured during WW2. And despite Lina’s protests the mom kept using Doris as a medium to draw more people toward her fortune telling business.

Fun fact! In various accounts of “demon possessions”, hosts speaking multiple languages that they didn’t know before and levitating/sticking to the walls are considered normal signs of possession (These based on accounts of “true” possessions, like Ana Eukland). So neither of these are just an Exorcist thing like Mat suggested, both these movies just happened to use those signs.

You know that someone debunked the ouija board idea. They got a few strangers together and blindfolded them then asked questions. The board did respond, but the answers were jumbled and rarely brought anything of value. The idea basically saying that we move the piece unconsciously (or perhaps consciously). Oh and 'always say goodbye' is a legit rule when communicating with the dead. You never want to walk away without closing the connection or the deceased will not leave. And they say open ended questions like 'is anyone out there' is a bad idea. But I'm just a nerd.

The one thing that would suggest this not being true is that in The Exrocist 3 it establishes that the first Exorcist movie took place in 1975 where as the Ouija prequel takes place in the 60's

Actually the arch that should have broken the girls' backs is a common and quite simple move in gymnastics, called a bridge. It's a little harder to walk down the stairs with it, but possible.

Yeah, well, we're just pointing out that it is actually possible and not hard to do at all, it sure might be creepy, but it is still one of the most basic exercises for warming up your back and shoulders, so all that talk about defying human anatomy and breaking bones and joints was a liiittle stretched with this one.

As you said, this possible, even for younger girls. I remember being in like 1st grade and being able to do the bridge, though I was in ballet, not gymnastics, and even walk while doing so. There are also some other things that could have helped explain, 1 such is being double jointed to where you can do things others can’t do out of either sheer pain or impossibility because their skeletons and joints weren’t made for it. Walking down stairs in a bridge wouldn’t be TOO hard, depending on how steep the stairs are, the leg and arm strength, and how much the back is bent. All in all, the thing that MatPat said should’ve broken their backs, is actually being done by others even younger than them, ex 6 year old me. With practice, and maybe some paranormal help, one would be able to walk down stairs like shown, though unlikely at that speed.

the "always say goodbye" rule in Ouija is VERY important (if you actually believe in it, I'm not saying that any of this is real it's just how the game goes). the Ouija board opens a "portal" so that spirits are able to talk to you. saying goodbye closes the portal so that you dont get yourself haunted ;)

Actually... the upside down “e” in phonetic notation is pronounced essentially like “uh”. According to the dictionary entry shown, it’s pronounced wee-juh. This makes sense given the origin of the board’s name as oui and ja are both words for “yes” in two different languages.

Luckily it was a good spirit, but it could've been an evil spirit. Another thing, one time my dad's cousin visited him when my dad was a teen, and slept in my dad's room. But while my dad's cousin was sleeping there, every night he felt someone lift his legs off the bed but there was never anyone in the room with him. After he left, my dad returned to his room and no one ever lifted his legs. This is 100% true not one part of this is a lie.

I think the biggest issues with this entire theory is that A) those rules are very well-known and common among those who believe and work with ouija boards, and B) it's a VERY common belief that using a ouija board opens you up to possession by malicious spirits and demons. And possessions (at least those in real world beliefs and not television and movies) are normally exhibited in the same ways that are shown in these specific movies.

Here’s a REAL don’t for ouiji boards: never play without a silver dollar. Playing a ouiji board with a silver dollar is said to keep you from becoming possessed. Ok, comment about Matpat's complaint about the "stupid" rule about saying goodbye to spirits. That's actually very important, as you have to say goodbye to the ghost to close the door to the spirit world. If you don't, the spirit world remains open, and can cause evil spirits to roam free.

Matpat if i may explain the rules of ouja boards to you : 1. "Never play in a Graveyard" : Its a place of heavy spiritual activity which causes making a connection to the RIGHT spirit fairly difficult . 2. "Always say goodbye" : This is actually pretty important. You dont have to literally say goodbye rather than close the spiritual portal you have created. Saying goodbye is just a easy way to do that. If you dont you allow spirits to trespass into our world without constraint. 3. "Never play alone" : This is because when you are alone you have no support around you to strengthen your mind and soul which makes you easier to possess. Also it makes it harder to focus your efforts on getting the right spirit harder if you are alone rather than a group. Also no i dont believe that this is actually true i just did some research.

Your intro reminds me of when I was little and trick or treating. Some guys were on a tall porch handing out candy and I went up there. From the bushes on the side, a guy dressed as a werewolf jumped onto the porch. My immediate reaction was to shoulder-bash his gut/groin (I was short) and he toppled off the ledge. I then shouted challenges and insults at him while his friends laughed themselves crazy. Then it occurred to me that this wasn’t a real monster. True story. I bought a Parker Brothers Ouija board when I was twelve. Me and two of my friends would play with it in my room at night, when they slept over several times that summer. Each time we played we the board would move, and answer questions. When we asked the spirits name it said it's name was Zod. We still kind of thought it was my friend Gina messing with us, though. The weird thing was, each time one of us would take a shower, the bathroom door would seem to unlock itself. It was a bolt lock, one of those ones with a sliding latch, so it could have been jimmied from the outside. But I never seen anyone jimmy it open when they where in there, and they swore they didn't open it when I was in there. But it happened to all of us. After a while we got bored of the Ouija board ( or maybe just scared, lol), and decided to hang out at the mall instead. That's my Ouija board story.

Pazuzu ONLY targets boys and girls with psychic abilities, because he needs a psychic to link all minds on Earth into one so he can corrupt the world all at once. Regan's powers were latent in the Exorcist film and fully active in Exorcist II. Doris gave no indication of being psychic. Also, in Exorcist II, Regan was living with a guardian named Sharon in NEW YORK, NY not Los Angeles. She was being home schooled as well.

I'd like to acknowledge from a Witchy background - the boards will act similarly because there are actually well followed rituals for connecting through the veil of the worlds. The rule "Always say goodbye" may sound silly when phrased as such. But the reason for it is that you DON'T want to invite something to your plane of existence and then NOT SEND IT BACK or give it a way back to it's resting place. That's how you get ANGRY spirits. I had a friend who's Aunt literally moved houses when they found d their dog dead in the backyard 6 months after using a board on a Halloween night. The problem is people assume they're always gonna summon dark things you could just be.talking to Grandpa Joe (your favorite Grandpa MatPat) but leave Grandpa Joe summoned and unable to go back and rest left to wander around the same hallways forever because you summoned him through the boars. He started sweet Grandpa Joe but after months...years....he can turn nasty.

the Problem with the Sub-theory of the little girl beeing possessed by pazuzu is, that the film made it pretty clear that the girl is not posessed by an old god; but by multiple, relatively young, evil ghosts. Therefore she was also able to speak their mothertongue and adapted some of their behaviours like consuming old media you would expect to be consumed by your grandparents. But I bet she wouldn't be able to read or speak latin. I don't know if it's important but the film is actually set in the conjuring-universe (due to the last scene) But hey - normally I love your videos, keep up the good work!
