The thing Quintin Tarantino said at the end of the video really stuck with me: “If you truly love cinema, you can’t help but make a good movie.” This is coming from a guy who never went to film school and who never even considered being a director when he grew up. He was just a normal guy who worked at a local movie store and just loved movies.

Martin Scorsese and Ridley Scott's advice were the best and they're applicable to game development also. First just look, only pay attention to the picture, then close your eyes and just listen to how nice the movie/game sounds. Two separate disciplines, patience or stamina and required to get both right. Steven Spielberg's advice to study old movies is also good, or paintings.

Getting the message or visual out there through the actual medium itself is what drives me as I know from an early age when I worked on a radio commercial (30’s) and it aired locally for one whole month. This taught me the value of the medium and the unlimited potential of what I could accomplish.
@alexusyoung629

The commercial was 30 seconds and it was for a local business who liked it. I was 13 years old when I did this which ultimately planted the seeds. A radio producer tweaked it on my last day (Life Skills Week) and cleaned it up but kept it as I created it.

This created for me a puzzling question. I was hugely inspired by this and would love to be a film maker at this level. But I wonder if somehow when you see success from the best, is that basically survivor bias? We want to emulate the successful and avoid the failures. But how can we predict, and avoid failure when all we see is success? I guess this turns out to be a recipe and not an improvise....but to me that is a paradox of creativity vs path.
