Easier than I thought it would be. Before the clue I said to myself "The only African monarchs I know are Mansa Musa and a few Pharaohs. This could be a miss. But as soon as I saw it was the 20th century there was only one answer. Selassie.

Besides the Pharaohs there have been many African monarchs, including the current kings of Morocco, Lesotho and Eswatini, and the rulers of the many African empires that existed before the Europeans came. What made this one extremely easy was the word "emperor" and the year 1975 in particular (and or course "devotee" as well as his lineage, in other words, everything in the clue).

@@mikereiss4216 It makes me wonder if Josh will get a bye into the next TOC much like Emma did. Given how close he was to preventing Matt's streak from ever happening in the first place and that he was an overall effective champion, I feel as if though he deserves it.

@@NickTheEnlightened True. Josh is a really good player with real champion material. It's hard to say for sure, but he likely would've won many more games if not for facing Matt. But that's the way it goes sometimes.

@@masterdoge987 Josh's chances of going to TOC is now virtually gone because they just announced that 2022 TOC will be held this November. There are still few slots to fill in once Amy Schneider will end her stint in due time and the chances of National College Champion will get the slot at TOC.

If Josh had gotten that final $400 DJ! clue correct, he would have been in the lead going into final... ...Meaning Matt would have never became a Jeopardy! superchamp and millionaire. Josh missed that clue, and the rest was history.

I have just noticed that Robin Roberts has hosted when Matt's long streak began as the new Jeopardy champion and it was Mayim Bialik's turn to host when his streak came to an end.

I think these last three hosts will be the least likely to get the hosting job, Robin Roberts, Levar Burton, Joe Buck. Soon we will have a permanent host, and all these other people can go back to their day job. I hope we won't have to go through this again, for a long time.

Robin says this like it’s fact. It’s really just a bunch of religious nonsense. His devotees actually believe he is a god, and his relation to Melenik I is reflected in his title because it’s required under Ethiopian dynastic tradition.

It IS a fact that the late emperor and "some of his devotees" traced his ancestry back to Solomon and Sheba. Doesn't mean we have to. Menelik, by the way.
