This is an original composition by Igor Krutoy, the pianist, who came out of retirement to work with Dimash. Dimash swims daily, when he can, underwater, to expand his lung strength. Great reaction! Olimpico will give you the complete opposite of his range, showing off his operatic baritone. Also, as I mentioned in another post, Dimash's vocalization of Know is an absolute treat to both watch and listen too.

El Amor en Ti (a recent release that he wrote too) has quite a bit of his operatice baritone too, as well as his higher ranges--lovely and rich. I would recommend it over Olimpico because it is both newer and written by Dimash himself. It also has the benefit of being both studio recorded and performed live, in the same performance (you'll see what I mean when you watch it.) This is an original composition by Igor Krutoy (at the piano). The beginning of the piece seems to be an imitation of the sounds from Outer Space that were recorded by NASA, establishing an otherworldly atmosphere. Dimash intentionally uses only vocalization to make this a prayer/meditation for all people, regardless of their spiritual orientation. Words often divide us, but music has the power to unite. The purity of Dimash's voice, the genius of Igor Krutoy's composition, the choir, instrumentation, and staging all combine to transport the listener beyond this earthly existence into the heavenly worlds. The messa di voce on High C at the end is absolutely exquisite. Russian figure skater and gold medalist Anna Shcherbakova used Ave Maria for her performance at the European Figure Skating Championships on January 16, 2022. Dimash is just great, isn't it? He manages to lift people to heaven with just one vowel. He leaves me speechless every time I hear this song. And I love it when the drums come in. It's so unique. Igor Krutoy composed this version of the Ave Maria at Dimash's request. Usually, Ave Maria is a prayer to the Holy Virgin Mary. In this case, however, it is a prayer for all people, no matter what religion they belong to. Besides that Dimash is a Muslim and Igor Kurtoy, who often accompanies him on the piano, is Jewish. That is why this Ave Maria has no lyrics, since it is not only sung for Christians. He sang this song on the New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international contest for young performers founded by Igor Krutoy in 2002. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. You can see, now, why my daughter loves it! Having grown up performing in various choirs I have sung and heard many versions of the traditional "Ave Maria" and I can tell you that NONE of them have made me feel the way that this piece by Igor Krutoy and Dimash does. And he never even says a word. These two men truly understand how to unite people through music and I love that you continue to help us share him with the world! Thanks Nick!

This is a version created entirely by Igor and Dimash. Dimash called Igor and told him the music he would like and he made it to him in 1 week and Dimash liked it straight away. They both understand each other very well. Behind this song, a message as always. Igor Krutoy is Jewish, Dimash is Muslim and the song is Christian :)

Schubert is not the only one that composed an Avé Maria, many composers did, and this one is composed by Igor Krutoy on Dimash's request. I think it's really genius to compose it without words and keeping it as pure and simpel as possible. And my God, it couldn't have been more touching and profound as the way Dimash sang and performed it. 2 geniuses together created a timeless piece that will be remembered like the compositions from Mozart, Bach, Caccini, Gounod, Schubert, ....

Another great reaction. Dimash's rendition of "Ave Maria" is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever listened to. This rendition touches the very core of my soul. I have watched this performance numerous times already since it premiered, and no matter how many times I have already watched it, I am still moved to tears the moment I hear the first note sung by Dimash's angelic voice. This was the final of three songs Dimash premiered in August 2021 during his appearance at the annual New Wave music competition in Sochi, Russia. He once again performed with Igor Krotoy on the piano. This is a vocalise interpretation of Schubert's "Ave Maria " 's opening vocals." Igor Krutoy composed this rendition for Dimash; it is not a cover. I read somewhere that the piece uses only three bars from the original composition and changes the fourth note to a higher note. Someone explained that Dimash called Igor Krutoy with an idea for a brand new interpretation of Ave Maria and asked him to compose the music. Dimash is said to love Gregorian choral music, which is where he got the inspiration. Igor composed the music, after which Dimash conceived these exquisite vocals. Someone else likened it to "a leap from "dark to light" which is the same contrast as Dimash's outfit (dark to light)!" Another “Dear” fittingly described Dimash’s performances like this: "Every time I hear this beautiful man sing, it feels like he punches a hole in my chest and holds my heart in his hands, holding it so gently, until he finishes singing. Then releases it and removes his hand from my chest, and I'm left with an empty, aching feeling which can only be filled by listening to him sing again! It's a beautifully tortured relationship with Dimash." The last note Diamsh sings is known as "Messa di Voce," the singing of a gradual crescendo and decrescendo on a long sustained note. It is considered one of the most challenging vocal exercises, and voice experts regard it as the ultimate test for any singer, a skill even the most experienced vocalists rarely ever master. There are at least 11 other compositions titled "Ave Maria" and over 40 different renditions of these versions. The version most people are likely familiar with is Schubert's 1825 composition or the 1853 Gounod composition, based on a famous Bach keyboard prelude written 137 years earlier. This premiere of "Ave Maria" took place at the annual international festival "New Wave", 2021 (Sochi, Russia). The vocalization of "Ave Maria" by Igor Krutoy (the author at the piano) was written specifically for Dimash, and was not based on the theme of Schubert, Bach/Gounod that you know. To a greater extent, it resembles the vocalization of "Ave Maria", written by the Russian lutenist V.Vavilov in 1970 and published by him under the name of the little-known Italian composer Giulio Caccini (1551-1618). Vavilov was a virtuoso musician, recorded two albums "Lute music of the XVI-XVII centuries". Only a few years later, music experts proved the authorship of Vladimir Vavilov (1925-1973, Leningrad, USSR) on his vocalization "Ave Maria". The composition of maestro Igor Krutoy has more structural similarities with "Ave Maria" by Vavilov (Caccini), which is still performed by many singers. Maestro Krutoy wrote many songs for Dimash, there are links on the singer's website.🎶❤️

New Wave is actually a competition for young singers. I was fortunate enough to attend the last one where this and Stranger premiered. Unfortunately, as a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, it seems that it hasn't taken place again since then.

Indeed! I've sung the Caccini, which I was introduced to by Vyatcheslav Kagan-Paley, also known as Slava ("Слава" Каган-Палей), a Russian born, Israeli countertenor and baritone. He released an entire album of covers of various versions of the "Ave Maria".

Nice reaction, as usual. There are countless versions of "Ave Maria", by many, many composers. This newest version is a composition written especially for Dimash, by Igor Krutoy. A song without lyrics (a "vocalise") is very difficult for a singer to do, while remaining on pitch, but nobody does it better than Dimash. The fact there are no lyrics may be because Dimash is Muslim and Igor's father was Jewish (so assuming Igor is, as well). Regardless of the reason, this performance is hauntingly beautiful, and will have a place in this 81yo heart until it ceases to beat.

Thank you. This is not Schubert's or any other's 'Ave Maria'. This was composed by Igor Krutoy at the piano at Dimash's request. Igor is Jewish and Dimash is Muslim and this is meant for ALL religions and people. It is just the voice of the angel. It is heavenly and leaves you speechless.

This is a gift to the world from two gifted men, Dimash and Igor. All people should be able to live in peace and as human beings we can. It's fantatic believing in politics, business, money and religion that causes hate and destruction. We should embrace one another and do our very best to understand others. Dimash's voice guided me to my darkest times and I'm so sure that his voice and beautiful music in general can unite people.

I missed you going this live, but this is just as good I'm sure. I love your reactions to all your Dimash videos. Igor Kruytoy arranged this song, especially for Dimash. There is a segment in one of the " Ultimate Guide to Dimash" videos in which an Asian vocal coach was teaching Dimash how to control his voice in that last note. How to push it out and then bring it back and fade away. There are no words left in any language to describe Dimashs' incredible talent. thank you so much for this video and looking forward to more.

@@nickforellreacts You're welcome! You know, I've been listening to KPoP since 2017, which is amazing because their music, lyrics, videos live shows are spectacular. They put a lot of hard work into everything they do. I see nothing like that being done in U.S. But when I came across Dimash, well, I never heard anyone like him ever before. I have to listen to him just about every day. I think in my 62 years on this earth, he is the best singer I have ever heard. And I've heard many, because I love music, can't be without it. I've been into many different kinds; Rock, Heavy Metal, Punk Rock, Soul, then KPoP.

If I'm not mistaken, this “Ave Maria” by composer and conductor Igor Krutoy is a work in vocalize format, completely unpublished, although it seems to be a variation of the initial theme (not the introduction but the singing part) of the melody by Schubert adapted to Dimash's voice in order to explore just as three initial notes and changing the fourth note to a higher note (From B4, A4 D#4 C#4 and B4 to G#4, G4, G4, D#5): Like a leap from "dark to light" which is the same contrast as Dimash's outfit (from dark to light)! It also seems to refer to the Russian V. Vavilov's version of "Ave Maria" (wrongly credited to Caccine) and work by JS Bach - Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV 846, with arrangements by Gounod, which Maetro Igor Krutoy has a predilection for!

Dimash is completely into the song (into the prayer), he IS archangel Gabriel foretelling Maria she will be the mother of the son of God ... the song begins with the softness and tenderness to calm her down, not to be afraid of his amazing presence, then he proceeds to announce God's will (The Annunciation), that she will conceive his son, and unleashes all the power of his voice, and he goes to an overwhelming finale with the sadness of her child's destiny...

@Sawsan Yasen I'm sure you understand that there are Thousands of religions around the world, and they all have their own gods, prophets, and stories. Dimash is respectful to this song. It has been a Christian song for hundreds of years. Dimash sang it so all the world can enjoy it and feel the spirituality. This is Art. Relax, and let people be who they are. It mostly depends on where you were born.

Hola desde Nicaragua Nick. Te cuento como nació esta bella canción : Un día Dimash llamó a Igor y le dijo: Quiero cantar el Ave María, escríbela para mí. En esa misma semana Igor regresó de dar un concierto, se sentía inspirado y en esa misma noche se sentó a escribir y en poco tiempo terminó la canción, al dia sigiente se la envió a Dimash, este la vió y le dijo: así la imaginé, está perfecta. Luego Dimash escribió la vocalización y listo! Maravillosa canción. Dimash es musulmán así que no iba a cantar El Ave María tradicional, así que se hizo su propia canción para que sin importar la religión de cada uno nos pueda transmitir esa sensación espiritual. Dimash dijo que cuando la escribió, pensaba en los ángeles, es por eso esa sensación celestial que nos produce.

Can we appreciate HOW difficult it is to stand on stage, with no accompaniment, and begin a song a cappella this lightly, this delicately and not crack? And the vocal stamina and strength it takes to hit those last highest notes in a song with NO rests, high notes that are challenging for a Soprano to sing?....high notes with such delicacy showing absolutely no vocal fatigue? WHAT I REALLY LOVE about Dimash's version of AM is that this song has been sung a gazillion times, by a gazillion singers more or less the same way over and over and OVER AGAIN!! for EVER! It is SO WONDERFUL, to hear a singer create an ORIGINAL, REFRESHING NEW AND EXCITING take on an old song, who has chosen to sing it in a way that has NEVER BEEN SUNG BEFORE, and I seriously doubt that ANYONE will EVER be able to sing it AS GLORIOUSLY IN TERMS OF EMOTIONAL DELIVERY OR IN TERMS OF THE QUALITY AND PURITY OF VOCAL SOUND PRODUCTION as Dimash!! 💖

Schubert's Ave Maria is not the only one, Bach or Vavilon also wrote songs called Ave Maria (among many others). When he sang the song in Prague I kept my eyes closed and it was like flying...so beautiful! Great reaction as usual, Greetings from Catalonia!! PS. More Aurora or Tim Minchin soon? 😉

Dimash is truly angelic in this song. no words! Composed by a Jewish Russian composer, sung by Dimash (he is Muslim) and the reference and title of Christianity, a song which crosses all religious boundaries and with no language barrier, for all peoples! I don't know if anyone has recommended "The Story of One Sky", it is another masterpiece, a mini-movie, with so many layers of meanings, and many vocal techniques and styles. I pity anyone who ran into it as their first encounter with Dimash, they would have no idea what's going to hit them. (Then of course it is true of many of his other songs, but "The Story of One Sky" is EPIC)

Oh, oh, Nick: You are starting to sound like a Dear. I sure am. I've moved seeing Dimash in person to the top of my bucket list, African safari back to number two. Like a lot of people, I haver never been so emotionally moved and invested as I am with Dimash. Right now, I am still wiping my eyes and blowing my nose even though I've listened to Ave Maria at least 50 times. I enjpy watching and listening to your reactions. Dimash asked Igor to compose Ava Maria. Many famous composers compose a version. Schubert and Cassini seem to be the most familiar. What I found interesting is when the drums come in at the last chorus is the same drumbeats from the song of Led Zeppelin. WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS. Thank you for promoting Dimash

Dimash asked Igor Krutoy (composer, pianist) to write Ave Maria for him and he did (nothing to do with all you know). New Wave is a singer's competition in Russia, where Dimash was a juror. And one of the days all members of the jury performed. Dimash performed 3 songs: Ave Maria, Stranger, and Fly Away. All three were unbelievable and have by now millions of views on his YT.

I really appreciated your reaction and comments after Dimash had finished his performance but I think Dimashes rendering of this piece was so otherworldly that it was a pity to comment it interrupting the magic of this EXTRA ORDINARY moment suspended in time ❤

p.s. A while back Dimash participated in a Chinese show with many other male Chinese singers, a kind of "brothers" friendly competition - a group of male singers all famous in China. There was a very prominent musician/composer not sure if he also sang, but he said something along the lines that "if any of these singers were lost or stopped singing, they could be replaced. But Dimash's voice is so special and his talent is so great that he could not be replaced". That was quite the homage to Dimash

As I'm sure you know the music for Ave Maria was first composed in 1819. The lyrics were later added in 1825, to the words of Sir Walter Scott's epic poem The Lady of the Lake, after which it became known as Catholic prayer we are most familiar with today. There have been many arrangements over the centuries and this is yet another specifically composed and arranged for Dimash to debut at this performance by the great Igor Krutoy.

as a classically trained pianist who studied at Juliard, I can honestly say I cannot find the notes he's hitting on my piano. They simply DO NOT exist within what we currently know as our vocal registrar. I am a speechless published poet at the moment.. Thank you so much for reacting to Dimash. The only thing I can think of is that evolution is still turning its wheel. That's about it. Unreal.

Of you notice he never once closed his mouth nor stopped his ability to just keep producing beatiful.musoc and sustained every note during the whole performance. I'm not sure anyone else would have the stamina or breathe control to do this. Just amazing what he can do. I can't wait to see you reaction to Olimpico. It's one of my absolute favorites. An absolute Master Class from an absolute Master! As for his lung capacity and diaphragm control, I understand that Dimash works on the development of every element of his 'instrument', including Martial Arts Training for core body strength etc. He also swims as much as he can to both maintain and expand his lung capacity. Where to form here? Whenever we think he's reached a pinnacle of excellence, he takes it up yet another step! 🤩😍😊

Notice at the beginning when Dimash is getting ready to sing you hear the heartbeat slowing down before stopping then Dimash sings its like the passing of life to be greeted by the angels. To me this is the closest you will get to heaven without going there. Even though this isn't the Catholic Prayer version it still gets the message across beautifully
