The 9 works for single digits if you include them as a decimal like 1.0 and move decimal when you add. So 1.0 would minus .1 to create .9. Which I find interesting when thinking about the E8 lattice and how its a fractal of triangles. The square root of 9 is 3, a triangle. Quarks breaks down in 3's, add up in 3s to make protons and neutrons. The Electron creates a fixed point forming a triangle from nucleus, etc. At the center of the E8 lattice is a hexagon (Most energy conserving shape) made up of 6 even triangles.

I've watched this video several times since it came out, and I have yet to understand the coffee thing at around 4:25. I don't see how it's not possible to have every molecule in a different spot after mixing.
@jakebrowning2373
@jakebrowning2373 2 роки тому
Technically you could, like if you had only 2 coffee molecules you could just spin them 180 degrees. But he mentions to a certain "error", so in theory there has to be an infinite number of points (so not discrete molecules)

@@jakebrowning2373 If you change the axis, every point moves. This can be done by changing the axis of flow. The crossing of the temperature reminds me of the fly hitting the windshield concept. If you map a fly’s speed on a graph with forward motion represented by a positive number and the speed in the opposite direction as a negative number, the line crosses 0 at some point. Meaning at some point the fly came to a complete stop when it hit the windshield before moving in the opposite direction. But for the fly to be able to come to a complete stop, that would suggest the windshield was at a complete stop at the same time.

I'm missing it. I don't know what the hell he was talking about. I know what you're saying, but I don't know what he's saying.
@edgarallenhoe3518
@edgarallenhoe3518 5 місяців тому
@sladewilson9741 the key is that if one place is 20° and another place is 30°, there must be an unbroken gradient in between that goes from 20-21-23-24-all the way to 30, and including every number in between those ofc. And that would still be true if the 20° place and the 30° place are right next to each other, it would just be more compressed. So, if you picked a point on earth's surface that was 20° and another on the exact opposite that was 30°, and you swapped those two points by sliding them at the same rate along an unbroken path so that they're always exactly opposite each other, then at some point the temperatures would intersect (one is going down and the other is going up) and be the exact same temperature. It doesn't matter what that in-between temperature is, the idea is just that we know it exists.

5:16 my mother taught me a neat trick when I was young. If you want to know if a number is divisible by 9 just add the numbers and it will always give you a total number added up that's divisible by 9 or adds up to a multiple of 9 that is of course, well, divisible by 9. Its a neat trick especially for quick math like what can divide the number 243. 2 + 4 + 3 = 9.

So in hexadecimal, this trick works for numbers divisible by 3, 5, and 15 (I encourage you to try it, it's pretty neat, assuming you know how to convert bases ofc).

All numbers will trickle down towards három (3) due to so many numbers having 3 letters: négy (4), hat (6), hét (7), tíz (10) ('gy' is one letter). Egy (1) is the only other number with 2 letters, which also joins the 2-5 loop. Hungarian does not have any end point.

You can apply the principle of the temperature around the globe to a table on uneven ground. If one of the 4 legs doesn't touch the ground, you can simply rotate the table slowly by 90°, keeping the 3 stable legs on the ground and you will find a point where all 4 legs touch the ground. This works because the one leg in the air will have a point on its path where it would have to go from overground to underground. That is your stable point. You can test this easily by taking a small table or a chair out on the street. The only important thing is, that the ground follows a continuous curve, so you usually can't do this on rocks, because the might be sudden drops in elevation on the edge of a rock due to it curving and creating an "overhang"

3:42 - resize it to the size of one of the original pixels, rotate it 180 degrees, align it with the pixel in the top left and move it down exactly one pixel (of the smaller one). The top row is now in the second row of the initial array, while all other rows are in the first row. No pixel is still in the place it used to be, without it ever leaving it's bounds. What am I missing?
@hedaurabesh
@hedaurabesh Рік тому
You are missing that there's no pixel grid. Fixed points only exist in continuous space, that is, it does not matter how small you make something, you can always find a new point "in-between". So there is no "pixel" you could shrink it to. The fields have sharp borders, but no matter how close you zoom in, it's always an infinte amount of points in-between. And since you can only transform the plane in a way that the distance between two points is an unbroken line of points that move closer together both before and after the transformation (i.e. no holes, no cuts) and you are not allowed to swap two points, you get at least one fixed point. Imagine shrinking the grid entirely into one colored field. Now you wish to move ALL points of the same colour out of that field without moving ANYother point outside of that field. Since there is a continuous line between the colored grids, no matter how you twist or bend it, you MUST find a point of another color that either touches a differently colored field, or touches the border. Since the border is infinitely sharp, touching the border means sharing points in common. Either way, you lose. You either can't move ALL the same-colored pixels out, or you MUST "bleed" other colored pixels into a differently colored field.

With the 5x5 pixel picture I think I found a way to have every pixel outside of it's original spot without having any pixels outside of the larger picture assuming you can have perfect precision. First shrink the picture to by 1/5 or smaller the original size and then rotate it by exactly 180 degrees then place the picture inside two pixels like lets say the orange and white two so as in the small orange and white are on the border or the large pair which means even though technically the small white borders large white it is not inside the large white pixel which is the same for the two orange pixels as well. Of course my method only works if you have literally perfect rotation and placement, but assuming you aren't bothered with the colors touching the border, it technically works as a way to have no pixels in their original spot.

The theorem states that there must not be holes. If there are holes then it is possible. What you are doing is effectively making the border between colors into a hole. If instead we imagine this colored square not as a collection of pixels but as continuous then the boarder itself becomes the fixed point in your example.

Fun fact about the 9 thing: you can clearly visualize how it works by starting at ten and going to nineteen. So, for ten it’s 10-(1+0)=9. For eleven, it’s 11-(1+1)=9. No matter what you do, the subtraction of the two numbers, as a consequence of our understanding of mathematics, will always get you to nine or a multiple thereof. Realistically there could be infinite fixed points if you declare your end goal to be any multiple of nine. Tl;dr, mathematics is weird but also super cool!

Further more, I’ve just discovered a cool quirk. If you take a large number that is just a string of the same number (for instance 1,111,111), add the digits together (to get 7) and subtract that from the original number, BUT then divide that answer by nine, the resulting answer will be 123,456. If you do it with seven twos it becomes 246,912. Now, if you were to do this with sixteen digits, like I did at first, this would be your result for all twos: 246,913,580,246,910. Somehow, the math works out that when doing that process with a string of just the same number, you get almost a perfectly sequential number after the fact. This is all so fascinating to me! I love this!
