Just a quick run through on how I run the tank. I use the kiss method. Simple easy to do.

It’s the best Fluval Evo 13.5 I’ve seen on UKposts to date, it’s a great setup you have, absolutely love the corals they’re so healthy with vibrant colours.

Thank you ! I've seen some impressive reefs in my years. It's about time my reef shows up. Much appreciated

@@MaineReef thanks man, I’m trying. Taking it slow. I have a small monti that’s doing well so I’m thinking of throwing in something easy like a digi or slimer. Fingers crossed!

I have a 25 gallon lagoon tank but I want to set up an Evo for my daughter. I already have the tank but can you run through how you have the back chamber set up? Your explanations are simple and easy to understand
@MaineReefМісяць тому
My back chambers are simple. I removed the stock sponge setup. First chamber has my pumped for my algae reactor. On top the pump is a bag of carbon and bag of gfo. On top the bags is filter floss. Second chamber has matrix media. My heater is in chamber two. As well as my ato. Chamber three return with wood air stone for bubble scrubbing.

what percentage are you running your blues and whites, and do they fluctuate at all through the day? Your tank is looking sweet my man, keep up that hard work im trying to get my tank looking this good.
@MaineReefМісяць тому
My blue are 100% whites peak at 10% blue ramp up from 8-9 am white ramps from 930 to 2 then ramp down. Blue ramp down 7-8. Lights out at 8

I have the same tank - running 2 years. Have tried 3-4 different wave makers and all were too strong for the tank. Looked at the Hygger site and I assume you must have the 1600 gph unit. Is that correct? But even at the lowest setting (40%) that still seems like a ton of flow for the 13.5 Fluval. How do you make it work? Also, the Hygger site states to mount it 6” below the water surface or you might get an error code. Ever seen this? Thanks
@MaineReefМісяць тому
I do run the 1600. I also run an upgraded return pump as well. I tend to use a lot of flow. It really depends on where your corals are with the flow. Also, what type of coral as well. My wave maker is maybe 3 inch below the surface, and I never get an error message. The error comes on when the wavemaker sucks air. Mine rarely pulls air.

what does the kalkwasser do for you? I mean im just trying to understand dosing what i should do for my tank. whats the benefit dosing kalkwasser over something like all for reef? i mean if i do my weekly water changes every week shouldnt that replace all of my trace elements? are your sps consuming more calcium then your water changes can keep up with? im just trying to understand how eevery coral i put in my tank melts but your reef looks insane something im trying to get to i guess the only difference i do is i dont dose kalkwasser
@MaineReefМісяць тому
I use kalkwasser for alk calcium and ph. Alk is consumed quickly. Enough that I would see swings with testing. So I started with kalkwasser. A small amount. To keep the alk from falling to far. The benefit of kalkwasser is calcium and ph buffer as well. I also use water changes weekly. That will replenish my trace with out dosing. KALKWASSER is not a fix all though. I highly recommend starting slow. Not going full saturation. You must test for alk calcium and ph. Kalkwasser also will not take care of all needs when coral gets to a certain size where it is using more than you are adding. You want to keep things relatively steady.

I can’t tell what light are you using?
@MaineReefМісяць тому
This light is a Nicrew hyperreef 50w with controller. It's on Amazon. Its a great light!
@jamesbroderick3660Місяць тому
@@MaineReef oh man thank you. I just set up a IM 15 AIO gallon and I need to get a light noa
@MaineReefМісяць тому
@jamesbroderick3660 price point on this light is exceptional. Comes with mounting. Controller is separate. I do recommend just for ease of getting a schedule with out a timer or smart strip.

Where are the fish? Tank looks nice but it's boring to just have coral and no fish
@MaineReefМісяць тому
Two clowns home one corner by the return. Been there since day one. Have three blue green chromis who live with in the rock and coral. One ora purple dotty. One green warpaint goby. Lives in the candy cane coral.
