This particular committee meeting was the same, not much attendance during debate days, then people showed up late, and got butt-hurt that they couldn't delay the vote for THEIR convenience.

I am not a US citizen, but what I see here is very similar to what happens in other Western democracy parliaments, where the Right/Conservatives/Reps ... think that those in the other side plays nice with the same rules as them. Let’s say you were a teacher, and you had a student who refused to show up to class to learn the content, but when they came on the day of the test they claimed that the class shouldn’t take it because they didn’t know anything about topic. Would you say “Okay class forget the test, we’re gonna teach the same thing we already taught again because this guy wasn’t here,” or are you going to say, “Sucks to be you,” and make them take the test anyways. This is what the Republicans did. Like a teacher with lesson plans, the committee has a very strict schedule of things it needs to do on any given day. If the Republicans want to act like the stuck up idiots they are and boycott their chance to speak, they can do that, but just like in a classroom, everyone else is going to move on with or without them.

Easiest thing in the world is to just say NO. Anyone who has children knows this. Congress is in charge of OUR SAFETY, just as every parent is responsible for keeping their children out of harm’s way. We’re PAYING Congress to represent US, not their own self interest.

I actually agree with you on term limits. I think that should go for the Supreme court too.

No need for us to wait on these dorks to come up with rules that might restrict themselves. That would be an exercise of futility. We just have to not vote for any one that is an incumbent. We, the people, can perform that task easily. If you liked the person, let them go home to their families.If they were a poor politician, then they can leave. The main issue is that these goobers think that it is okay to stop doing their job for an entire year, just to campaign that they need to keep that job. At a minimum, that is a 16.6% loss (1year campaign/6year term for senators) of political work to help the people. Not to mention all the vacation time, holiday, and when things get real easy government shutdowns.
