You can find brightness setting in advanced tab in options, I dont remember the console command for that

"inventorydrop 3" drops an item from 3rd slot from my inventory (which is pistol in this case) . And yes those are allowed along with inventoryuse and inventoryequip (although nobody really uses this one)

Would not doing it create a massive detour in the speedrun's route to get a G18 instead? And the community voted to opt to do it this way instead since it's more interesting and avoids a big inconvenience? :o

@@Proutbedaine yes, community votes are done to decide if something should be allowed. The reason we use those is because when you do something in the inventory you basically use a specific command. Of course there are many other commands but some of them wouldnt be considered to be legit

@@Alex_Magnum YEah I noticed mentions of votes in the past on SRC so I figured that one had to be voted in. Only makes sense. And yeah, of course, I figured stuff like sv_cheats 1 and noclip are obviously not allowed for even more obvious reasons haha! And even much less offensive ones in the scope of a speedrun. But this one you used is evidently not nearly as offensive and I can kinda see why the community would vote it in.

Saves are allowed in this game but only 2 saves and reloads at max. When you reload a save your time rewinds to the point where you saved and saving by itself costs 3-5 seconds. I'm not really a fan of this rule since I think runs should be single segmented, this is kinda dumb because you can litterally rewind time by this and fix all mistakes. The reason why I saved there is because doctor is very rng heavy boss, he is literally a coin toss. So if I get bad rng I can abuse this like anyone else. Still dislike this tho and probably shouldn't have saved at all.

@@Alex_Magnum Oh wow, yeah that one is indeed extremely surprising that the speedruning community for this game agreed upon it. Indeed it can lead to heavy abuse. But since it's allowed I definitely see the use it had there and I didn't realize how heavy the RNG was on that boss but it does really makes sense and does create a good safety net. You didn't end up needing it but still, I totally get why you did it. Especially with such an incredible pace, it would have been a decently big gamble to risk going without it even though it's allowed. Thanks for replying to all my questions to well, let alone so fast too! :D Really enjoyed the run! Was a really fun and impressive watch!

@@Proutbedaine thanks mate. There is actually two ways to fix saving problem: disallow saving completely or use mod that gldsrc runners use called BunnymodXT which adds some features like timer and speedometer and can unlock quicksaves so it will be like a hl1 speedrun. It actually got support for cof in January of this year but there is a problem: when you load quicksaves it rewinds timer since BXT timer is tied to in game time so there is a lot of work must be done before we can use it. But it definitely will make runs better

@@Alex_Magnum Ohhh I saw that name before but didn't make the connection that it was tied to the speedometer I kept seeing in HL1 runs and the HUD timer on the left too they had. Yeah ideally if they could make it work with CoF but without the IGT rewinding when loading a quickload it would be amazing. But yeah, the next best alternative would be indeed to vote out the use of saves/loads.

Yes, and it's called wallstrafing. In games like quake or half life you can hug a wall and press forward plus left/right while looking forward at a certain angle. In this game however you need to look at the wall and hold forward. The reason is because strafing speed is slower than walking forward therefore we use this alternative way of wallstrafing.
