Yeah, GT7 is the better game but the issue with motorsport isn't that it "tried being like Gran Turismo". That really doesn't make a lot of sense because there have been 7 motorsport games over the years and they were mostly excellent. The issue with the last Motorsport (8) is just that they weren't given enough time and money to cook in the oven. Less tracks, less cars, less features than the games that came before it in it's own series. So the game is underwhelming, because it's underwhelming, not because of some lack of identity.
