As interesting and cool as this story is.... Freddy was inspired by events that happened to the creator of the character Wes craven.... There was a whole documentary on the character of Freddy that came out as promotional thing along side another documentary when Freddy Vs Jason came out. The one on Freddy is called "never sleep again" and the Jason one is called "his name was Jason" In never sleep, Wes explained the full inspiration of how he came up with Freddy from why the sweater to the idea of the dream killer

I wonder how/why he didn’t use his gift to STOP them from killing him….. 🤔
