I make French people pronounce difficult English words! It's simple, the rule is they have to be 100% French to participate. Then, I show them a series of hard English words and they have to attempt to say them out-loud. Thats it!

Well it’s like the word chat which means cat in French, and it’s pronounced as if an America person was saying “sha” their words that start with ch are pronounced shhh instead of ch. That’s why when they said choir they pronounced it like that if that makes any sense at all.

As a native English speaker who has studied French, I think “choir” looks like a French word, and I can’t blame them for pronouncing it the way they did. I’m surprised they didn’t all comment on how the spellings of English words often seem to have no relation to their pronunciation. By the way, the last word is spelled wrong, at least on the screen. There is only one “h” in the word “psychotomimetic.”

@CharlesNauck

Just remember, in most native English-speaking cultures, it is considered extremely rude and ignorant to judge someone for making mistakes in English. I've traveled a lot, and I really didn't like about 30% of French people I met in France as they would judge you harshly for not speaking French and extremely harshly for mispronouncing French. That being said, there were tons of kind/smart/friendly French people, many kinder/friendlier than most groups I have met. They just have a significantly large asshole population.

I have so much respect for the French people. As an American visiting overseas, I did my very best to learn, speak, and respect their beautiful language, but they would go above and beyond if I struggled (and genuinely politely, with no snarky backhandedness) usually help out by speaking with me in English afterwards, while still encouraging me in a positive way to continue learning French. I have nothing but nice things to say about the people I met there.🙂

@michaelweiske702
@michaelweiske702 4 роки тому
Tbf, the English R is quite different from what other languages use as R. Most languages form R using the tongue similar to L, while English uses the lips similar to a W. This is why languages with no R at all tend to default to L (see "Engrish") and why Elmer Fudd uses W instead of L (see "Waskiwwy Wabbit")

When someone was shy to try 'successful' it was a good strategy to have a few others to try to not put them on the spot. I think the facilitator can try and be more encouraging to those who have given it a try on camera, not only when they succeed. You can tell when certain ppl are discouraged, so I would love to see them more reassured :), esp since they are already being brave ❤ But yea I think he didn't want to give away the answer.
