As a half Romanian, half Russian brought up in French, I have a good piece of advice. When in Paris, ordering a coffee politely will make you a suspect one. Whereas one who's cynical and almost agresive will turn you into a French dude. But if you ever go to Belgium, or Canada or Switzerland, just be welcomed.

Thank you so much. Great video! I have 2 questions: (1) How do most French people order in a cafe? Do they use a sentence like, Je prends un _____? Or Je vais prendre ____? What would people in their 30’s typical say? I heard that Je voudrais ___ is too formal and used by older people. Is that true? Thank you for all your help and videos!

I just thought coffee just before you said, you would like one after this. I love the speed of your lessons. I hate those French lessons that go too slow they are so boring. After all if I do miss anything on your video lessons I can always watch it again. un café noisette s'il vous plaît? Non! Je préfère un café crème s'il vous plaît mademoiselle. (You can correct me if I make mistakes or there is a better way of saying something if you like)

Andressa Oliveira I think it would be more like a macchiato. It’s just a touch of milk. A flat white has a lot of milk.

Cafe creme is espresso with either cream or milk. But what if you want to specify milk not cream?

hi i have a little space in my head. so i woud like to learn but not espresso, double espresso ameriv=can bla bal. maybe better firs start with cappuchino or normal coffee. now i loos so much space with things i never juse

Noir, c'est la seul moyen pour moi. Je ne jamais boire du café ni avec sucre ni lait, ni crème. Aux États Unis je bois café noir fait par sous l'etiquette Peet's, mais seulement leur rôti français-c'est le plus comme café français en goût. En Europe c'est toujours un café (express ou espresso). Merci pour cette leçon fantastique!

Moi je ne sais jamais commander le bon café en France... Un espresso c'est trop petit, mais un café allongé c'est trop dilué comme café :/ je veux un café allongé mais plus concentré/fort. Comment je peux faire ça ?

Vous ne précisez pas que «expresso» avec un «x» est incorrect, même si on l’entend souvent. De plus, dans les pays francophones d’Europe, on ne commande jamais un café au lait ou un cappuccino pendant l’après-midi ou en soirée.

Notes to self: Black coffees > un café = un espresso = un express. (Also 'un déca' means it is a deca espresso). AT HOME > un café au lait (when in some cafes, means a latté) & un cafe noir.
